Jake laughed hysterically as he picked up Colby's candle and turned towards the staircase, still holding his knife. Jake had gone insane! He walked up the stairs, onto the second floor and stared down the dark hallway. It seemed to be endless. Jake walked slowly and silently down the long hallway until he reached the door next to Sam's room. He reached out to open it, but it was locked.
Jake screamed in frustration as he punched the door with rage.
"The candle. Use the candle..." A deep voice whispered in Jake's ear.
He turned around but saw no one. Jake looked down at the small candle in his hand and then looked back at the door.
"Fire is power, now use it!" The voice said again, just a little louder this time.
A huge smile spread across Jake's psychotic face, as he lifted the candle up and lit the door on fire. The fire spread quickly, eating everything in its path. The door was gone in no time, and fire now surrounded Jake. Big clouds of smoke filled the air, as the fire jumped from wall to wall. Jake walked into the burning room and picked up the piece of paper with Colby's name and blood on it.
Jake turned around and saw a tall shadow behind him. But this shadow was not his. This shadow was The Midnight Man; The evil demon that caused all of this chaos...

Yet it is through learning that the High Elves have taken a keen interest in the once magically-absent lands of Ranislava that Aurelius decides that action must be taken and thus he journeys south to learn more about what his distant kin are up to in such a backwater region of the world. Who he will meet and what he will do will turn the tides of fate, but in whose favor is something that only the Gods will know.
