《We Could Rule The World || UnOrdinary [Isen x Reader]》Chapter 5

"We need to talk." Upon hearing those words, Isen's face visibly paled, "don't worry," you gave him a soft smile, "I'm not mad. Maybe we should go somewhere more," you jerked your head towards Blyke, "private."
"Be right back," he told Blyke before getting up and letting you lead the way out of the library. "What'd I do wrong?" he questioned fearfully when the door shut.
"Nothing! I'm just worried about you," you told him with concern in your (e/c) eyes. "You've skipped lunch three days in a row. Also, that John kid mentioned something about you?" you gently took hold of his hands and rubbed them gently, "what's happened?"
Isen carefully looked around, "Arlo sent me on a task. He wants me to investigate John, so I've been spending all of my time doing that."
"Oh," you nodded. "You could be a little more subtle," you smiled, "John's totally on to you."
Isen's eyes widened, "what happened?"
"Ah, I ran into him before I found you. He's scary!"
"What'd he do?" Isen asked in concern and grabbed your hands, "did he hurt you?"
"No, no! He just, uh, threatened me? Well, not specifically me, but," you shook your head, "kind of?"
"What'd he say?" Isen asked hurriedly.
"Uh," you looked up as you remembered the confrontation, "he turned all dark and threatening. Like a black aura seemed to appear around him. Said something about an interview that turned into an interrogation?"
"Oh," Isen nodded, "he didn't hurt you, right?"
"Nope, didn't even get close." You let out a sheepish laugh, "probably because I didn't let him, I ran."
"Good," Isen smiled and looked relieved.

"What's with that reaction?" you looked at him in confusion, "I just ran away from a cripple! That's not good."
"Arlo and I think there's more to him than he's letting up. That's why Arlo asked me to look into him." Isen explained.
You tapped your chin thoughtfully, "makes sense."
"I was doing some more research into it if you want to join me?" he questioned.
You nodded, "yeah. I'll help." Isen smiled before realization dawned on his face and his face paled again, "oh no, what now?" you asked in concern.
"This is a secret, okay? Arlo will kill me if he finds out I told someone," Isen nearly whimpered, "he threatened me with a fork."
"Don't worry," you gave him a reassuring wink, "secret is safe with me."
Isen smiled, "you're amazing."
"So are you," you grinned back, "now, let's finish that research, shall we?"
Isen led the way back into the library and sat down at the computer he was working at while you pulled up a chair next to him, "did you guys figure things out?" Blyke gazed over at the two of you.
"Yep," you smiled.
"Good," he nodded and turned back towards his computer.
"He said he was from New Bostin, so I'm looking at class photos to see if I can find him." Isen explained as he pulled up a page full of class photos, "let me know if you see him."
He only scrolled down a little bit before you noticed a kid with black hair, "wai-is that him?" you pointed to the small figure on the screen. Seeing someone without colored hair was rather unique.
Isen squinted and zoomed in before standing up suddenly, nearly causing you to fall backwards in shock, and causing Blyke to sputter out, "what the-?"

"I finally found you!" Isen shouted victoriously.
"Isen!" you let out a hushed scold.
Blyke on the other hand, went towards a more blunt route, "Isen, will you shut up? You're gonna get us kicked out of the library again!"
Isen paid no mind to what Blyke just said and grabbed Blyke's shoulder to pull him over, "yeah, whatever. Hey man, take a look at this!" he pointed to John on the screen.
Blyke didn't seem to get it as he just squinted at the screen, "you stalking girls from other schools again?" you nearly choked, "dude, we have an essay due tomorrow."
"Oh no!"
"(y/n)!" Blyke turned to scold you.
"I forgot!" you whisper-yelled to him.
"What?" Isen demanded, "no, you idiot! Are you blind? I'm pointing at the guy!"
"So you're going for guys too now?" Blyke looked at Isen unamusedly.
"That's John from two years ago!" Isen continued to point at said person.
Isen continued to look at the screen but there was no hint of recognition, "remind me why I care again? Why are you looking him up?"
"U-um," Isen faltered and the smug look on his face was replaced with fear, "actually, that's none of your business."
Real smooth Isen. Blyke didn't like that response and clenched his jaw in annoyance, "what the hell is your problem? You called me over first!"
"Hey, don't you have an essay to write or something?" Isen tried to wave Blyke away.
"Is your essay on Tetris?" you asked teasingly as you looked over his shoulder to see the game.
"Yes." Blyke replied too quickly as he scooted back over to his computer.
"Sure," you agreed sarcastically.
"Shut up," he grumbled under his breath and you let out a giggle.
"You two again?!" the three of you looked behind to see the librarian glaring at Isen and Blyke.
"Sorry?" you meekly tried, but that didn't help as she relentlessly kicked the three of you out.

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017].
