《We Could Rule The World || UnOrdinary [Isen x Reader]》Chapter 4

You jumped when you heard the door unlock and someone come in. You were in your room doing your homework, but silently put your pen down and mentally prepared yourself to use your power. Someone tiredly passed by your door and you were about to attack, but you could recognize that pink hair and blue bow anywhere. "Remi!" you shouted and ran at her to envelop her in a hug.
She gasped, "you're still awake?"
"Don't mind me," you shook your head, "how are you?"
She sighed, "I've been better. Thank you for sending me your notes."
"Of course," you smiled, "I'll always have your back."
"Thank you (y/n)." She smiled at you gratefully, "I'll let you get back to your work."
"Do you need help?" you questioned as you followed her back to her room, ignoring what she said.
"I'm all right, thanks though." She answered and started to empty her suitcase.
You stayed at the doorway to your room, "if you ever need anything, Remi, know that I'm here. Same goes for Blyke and Isen."
She smiled, "thank you."
"Of course." You grinned, "shout if you need anything."
"Will do."
You headed back to your room and sat down at your desk to finish your work. You groaned as you saw what was left, always math.
☆☆☆
You and Isen were walking through the halls to your next class when someone ran up to Isen. "Come with me, Arlo's looking for you."
You glanced over at Isen, judging from his rapidly paling face, he was in so much trouble. "Rest in peace." You whispered mournfully and gave him a sad pat on the shoulder.
"Thanks a lot (y/n)," he nearly whimpered as he followed the other student to wherever Arlo was.
☆☆☆
You didn't see Isen until the next passing period, and as soon as you did, you practically pounced on him, "you're alive!"
"Ack," he cried out in shock. A couple of students gave you strange looks, so Isen grabbed your hand and pulled you down into a quieter hall.

"What'd he say?" you asked eagerly.
Isen looked around uncertainly, "I can't say."
You smiled, "but that's never stopped you before."
"This time it's different," Isen's face blanched, "he knows."
You felt a bit of fear wash over you, "oh."
Isen shuddered, "he knows I was the one who shared the news about Sera attacking him. I don't want to die!" he wailed.
"Shhh," you frantically shushed him and looked around to make sure nobody saw Isen's outburst. "It's going to be fine. I can come over to your place and you can tell me?"
Isen shook his head, "I'll come over to your place. Arlo has a stronger hold on the boys dorms."
You gently held Isen's face in your hands, "it's going to be fine. I can even help you if you want." You gave him a cheeky smile.
He sighed, "would you?"
"Of course," you grinned at him. You broke into laughter, "gotta keep the king happy."
Isen frowned, "ugh, don't remind me." That caused you to break into more laughter and Isen started smile.
"Thank you." He told you and wrapped his arms around you for a hug. You immediately returned the gesture and the two of you stayed like that for a moment. Resting in each other's arms, "thanks for making me smile."
You laughed and pulled away so you could boop his nose, "can't have a sad boyfriend."
He sighed happily, "what did I ever do to deserve you?"
"Well clearly you did something right," you teased, "now come on, if we don't hurry we'll be late to class."
☆☆☆
You tapped your fingers on the lunch table restlessly, your sandwich was laying forgotten in front of you.
"What's wrong with you?" Blyke questioned around his food. You didn't have the energy to scold him for it.
"Have you seen Isen?" you questioned and looked around for the orange-haired boy.
"In class," Blyke shrugged.
"It's not like him to ditch lunch three days in a row," you frowned and continued tapping the table, "and I barely see him during passing period."

"Maybe he's working on a story," Blyke shrugged, "you don't need to worry about it."
You bit your lip. You were so concerned because he seemed so rattled after his encounter with Arlo. What happened? Was he still in some sort of danger? Did Arlo put him up to something? Was he blackmailed? You were worried. "I'm going to go look for him," you declared, but then the bell rang and you looked around in shock. Blyke had long finished his sandwich and fruit cup. You groaned, "I did it again!"
"Got lost in your thoughts?" Blyke questioned with a raised eyebrow and you frustratedly nodded, "figured. You had that faraway look in your eyes. I figured you were thinking of something important."
"Yeah," you echoed.
☆☆☆
The moment school ended you sprinted to Isen's class, determined to catch him before he left. You hastily pushed past the crowd of students while yelling "sorry" over your shoulder. You skidded in front of his classroom door and slid it open, "Is-" you trailed off when you noticed the room was empty except for the teacher giving you a confused glance. "Sorry," you smiled sheepishly before closing the door. "Darn it!" you shouted, "missed him!"
"Who are you looking for?" you jumped when you heard someone's voice behind you and spun around to see who it was.
"Oh, uh, just a friend of mine," you answered cryptically as you looked at the black haired boy in front of you. You squinted your eyes at him as you tried to remember who he was, "oh!" you snapped your fingers in understanding. "You're John right?"
"Yeah," he smiled, "surprised you know who I am."
"Well, you're pretty unique here," you shrugged.
John winced, "yeah."
"Sorry, but I've got to go," you told him hastily and looked around the halls, you frowned when you noticed it was nearly empty.
"Right, you're looking for someone, who is it?" he questioned.
"Isen," you answered, "have you seen him?"
John started to glower and you hastily took a step back, he looked rather intimidating for a cripple. "Yeah I've seen him."
Your face brightened, "really? Where?"
"He pulled me out of class for an interview," John's gold eyes were narrowed and it was almost as if a black aura was forming around him. You took another step back. "He's supposedly writing a story on the life of a low-tier, but he ended up interrogating me about my life." He looked at you with a freezing glare, "you're his friend."
"Um, yeah." You faltered. As much as you shouldn't fear him, something about him seemed off, and it intimidated you.
"Tell him to mind his own business and to stop prying into other people's personal lives. Got it?" he nearly growled at you.
"Yep," you squeaked, "thanks for your help!" without a moment's hesitation, you sprinted down the hallway and turned around the corner, out of sight from him. You leaned against the cool wall and rested your head against it, "this is ridiculous." You told yourself, "running away from a cripple? What's gotten into you?" you demanded and held your head in your hands. You were broken out of your crisis by a ding from your phone.
Message from Blyke:
Message to (y/n):
Are you still looking for Isen?
Message from (y/n):
Message to Blyke:
YES!!
Message from Blyke:
Message to (y/n):
He's in the library with me.
Message from (y/n):
Message to Blyke:
Don't move! I'm coming right over!
You dashed around the school to the library, which was relatively easy considering how there weren't many students milling about in the halls, and practically burst into the library. However, you did feel sheepish when the librarian gave you a stern glare, "sorry!" you mouthed before searching the area for your two friends. It took a bit of searching, but you finally found a tuft of red hair sticking up above the desk dividers.
You walked over (just to make sure it actually was Blyke), and found Isen right next to him. "Hey," you whispered and leaned over the divider to look at said person. He jumped at the sound of your voice and looked up at you, "we need to talk."

Re: (Union//Incarnation)
Two years ago, a meteor fell and decimated the southeastern lands of Gaia, turning them into wastelands constantly shrouded in white fog. None of those who saw the blazing calamity with their own eyes lived to tell the tale, and those who attempted to venture in never came back. Since then, towers, caverns, and ruins have appeared and disappeared without a pattern. Those who were brave enough to venture in were rewarded with a partner capable of defying the natural laws as humanity knows it. People started to call them ‘Incarnation’, and before long, more and more Incarnation were gathered and sold as commodity, especially after a billionaire has sponsored a fighting tournament offering cash prizes to those possessing the strongest Incarnation, spurring the greedy and desperate to hunt for the fabled creatures at the cost of their lives. Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains. It was a chance, a chance to participate in the tournament and live without worrying about survival. Yet, something nagged in the back of her mind. Why did she look so familiar? Planned release schedule: One chapter every day for Mon-Fri, and a break on Sat-Sun. The release will slow down at some point, but most likely won't go under 3 chapters a week.
