《Mine.》Chapter 6

I groaned as my alarm was going off on my phone. I moved my arm around my bed trying to find it. Once I did I shut it off and sat up, my head was pounding.

What the hell happened last night?

Besides the incident with Jake I don't remember anything. How'd I even get home, I looked at my dresser and seen a glass of water and some ibuprofen, thank you mom.

"Honey are you up, remember you took the morning shift at the shop today."

Speak of the goddess.

My family owned a very cute thrift shop. It sold decorations, little knickknacks, clothes donated by different places and many other things.

"Yeah I'm up." I yelled down to her.

I had totally forgotten that I told my brother I'd take his shift, since he stood the night at his girlfriends house. Oh how I regret that now. I checked my phone and saw it was only eight thirty. So I got up to go to the bathroom.

Woah, I look like a hot mess.

I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed for work. Which just consisted of a pair of denim jeans, a plain black shirt and my old converse. After throwing my hair into a high ponytail, I made my way downstairs, going into the kitchen.

"How did you even know I was here, I was supposed to stay the night at Jake's." I said, while sitting at the kitchen counter, maybe I had called her to pick me up.

"Yet, here you are." She stated, while looking over her shoulder as she cooked some eggs on the stove.

I stayed quiet which caught her eye. "What happened?" she asked, placing a plate of breakfast down in front of me, or maybe she didn't pick me up.

"I don't wanna talk about it." I stated, she gave me a look that said will talk later.

"Alright honey, go on to the shop now before your late your dads there already." she said, once I finished my breakfast.

I put my plate in the sink and kissed my mom on the cheek, "Okay, bye mom." I quickly said and walked out of the door.

Luckily for me the thrift shop was just down the street so a little walking wouldn't hurt me. I got there with two minutes to spare. I went around to the back of the counter where people pay for the stuff. On this side of the counter there's also a door where I went through. This is where the employees usually hung out at.

"Hey bud." My dad greeted, looking up from his newspaper once I walked through the room.

He had always called me that since I was a little girl. Considering my brother turned me into a tomboy but, I still had my girly girl moments. He was currently sitting at the table we had in this room. It also had a fridge, with a counter along the wall that held the coffee machine and microwave. On the other side was a couch and a little coffee table with one black beanbag chair.

"Hey dad." I replied smiling, and walking over to him.

"Here, go open up." he handed me the keys to the shop and I simply nodded.

I went and opened up the door to the shop, flipping the closed sign to the open one.

It's now eleven and today wasn't as busy as I expected it to be.

"Octavia." My dads voice yelled and I quickly went over to him in the back. "Here." he says, handing me two boxes, one little and one big.

"The little one has knickknacks in it and the other one has clothes, could you put them up for me?"

"Of course." I said and turned around, going down one of the short aisles.

This is the aisle where all of the knickknacks go. Which usually range from one to ten dollars. I placed the big box down and opened up the little one to start putting the knickknacks up where they belong.

"Hey, I thought that was you." An oddly familiar voice said, I jumped a bit and turned around.

It was the guy from last night, crap. It was all coming back to me now, Ryder, the Lamborghini, throwing up. He was how I got home, only this time I wasn't so talkative I guess.

"Octavia right?" He asked, damn his voice.

Wait how did he remember my name?

"Yeah." I simply said.

He was wearing a fancy suit. Of course he was, he had to have a well paid job. The guy has a freaking Lamborghini. I thought I saw his eyes go to my lips for a second but, then he was looking at my eyes the next, I couldn't tell. His eyes shifted to the box in my hand and to the one on the ground, then to me.

"You work here?"

"Y-yeah..." Fuck, why am I stuttering.

Probably because, you threw up in front of the guy. Technically a tree but, ugh, that's besides the fact. This is an actually good looking guy, who makes me nervous.

"My family owns it." I said, turning around putting the rest of the stuff on the shelf.

"Well then maybe you could help me."

I breathe in, growing more nervous by the second.

"Sure." I put the last of the things on the shelf and turned around to him. "What do you need help with?" I asked nicely.

"Do you guys sell tool boxes?" He questioned, staring at me intensely.

Yes we do.

"Um..," I started to grow nervous as I started walking out of the aisle. "This way." He was quick to come and walk next to me.

As he did his hand brushed up against mine making me breathe in slightly. I turned the corner walking past one aisle and into the next going all the way down.

"Right there." I stated, pointing to the lower half of the shelf as I stood against the wall.

He bent down towards the lower shelf. Shit, he's really close. I watched him look at the tool boxes then he looked up for a second to me. We made eye contact as he slowly looked down my legs but, then he quickly grabbed a tool box coming back up again.

"How's this one?" he looked at me as if he was studying me again, it was nice I guess it was black and clear.

"Looks good"

"I'll get this one then"

We stared at each other for a second before I answered, "Is that all?" he looked me in the eyes for a quick second again.

"Yeah, I think I'm good."

"Okay." I mumbled, walking past him to make my way to the front counter, Ryder was not to far behind.

When I got to the other side of the counter behind the register, Ryder was already on the other side.

"Hey Octavia, thank you so much for taking my morning shift, I love you so much, I know I owe you big time." Jeremy, my older brother said, as he kisses my cheek and tries to give me a hug but, I stop him.

"Not big time, more like majorly big time."

"I know, promise." He says quickly and I watched him sit back down on the stool we had on this side of the counter.

I turned to look at Ryder who looked straight pissed. I wonder why, maybe he's late for something. I must have made him late, crap. I quickly scanned the tool box, while checking how much it costs.

"12.35." I say, which he doesn't seem to hear since he's just staring at Jeremy, "Ryder." I called his name, which got his attention.

"Sorry." he gave me the money, which in return I gave him his change and receipt, I watched as he looked at me one last time.

But, before he left, I stopped him, "Thanks for the ride by the way."

"No problem.....goodbye Octavia." I watched from the window as he left in his Lamborghini.

Which reminded me of last night. 'Goodnight Octavia'. I let out a breathe, I hadn't even know I'd been holding. Although one thing did dawn on me.

Why would a guy with a Lamborghini and a fancy suit come to a thrift shop?
