Lights.

All that I saw were bright lights fading in and out across the ceiling.

Am I moving? I thought.

The lights were not a comfortable light, like laying in a field and staring at the clouds on a summer day. These lights, however, felt cold, and scary.

Wanting to escape these persistent lights, Sap closed his eyes, eventually drifting off to sleep.

I had gained conscious by the time they were loading me on to the ambulance. Once the medics saw Dream's case, they decided he was in the most need of helicopter transportation.

Sapnap had been taken away on the first ambulance to arrive, so I assumed that my state couldn't be too bad.

Even though I had blacked out for a few minutes, Sap and Dream had never left my mind.

As they loaded me onto the ambulance, I tried to grab the medic's arm and ask her where my friends were. The woman ignored my incoherent mutterings and began to stick an IV into my forearm.

When I arrived at the hospital, I was given some pain killers and told that I should be able to go home the next day. I, however, had no intention of leaving my friends here.

I slept restlessly in the hospital that night, still not knowing anything about my friends.

After running some tests and checking some levels, the doctors decided that I was clear to be discharged.

After filling out some paperwork, I took a seat in the waiting room. I didn't care how long it took, I was going to check on my friends.

I spent most of that day flipping through magazines on the table beside me, playing on my phone, and occasionally falling asleep for a few minutes.

After a while, I realized I hadn't eaten anything all day. I looked at my phone, and the time was 7:36. I decided that I had better go get some food before the cafeteria closes.

I walked into the cafeteria, and immediately began to make my way towards the lunch line. I settled for a turkey sandwich, a bag of crisps (chips), and a glass of water.

Even though the meal was nothing extraordinary, it tasted like the best thing I had eaten in my entire life.

When the cafeteria started to close at 8:00, I made my way back to the waiting room.

About 45 minutes later, I was approached by an older gentleman dressed in scrubs.

"Are you Mr. NotFound?" he asked.

"Yes sir," I replied, immediately feeling full of energy.

"Your friend Sapnap is waking up," said the nurse, a small smile on his face.

"Can I see him?" I asked, wishing to check on my friend.

"Yes sir. Right this way."

I followed the nurse down a hallway, up a flight of stairs, and around a corner to a room that looked nothing different than the rest.

As soon as I walked in, I felt a weight lifted off of my shoulders. My friend was alive and conscious!

As I approached his bed, Sapnap began to laugh a little bit.

"What's so funny?" I asked, trying my best not to laugh with him.

"Your head...(wheeze)... it's... it's.... PURPLE!" he yelled before falling into another fit of giggles.

"Ha ha ha. You don't look too great yourself, Sap," I said, trying not to smile at my still giggling friend.

"Please, I can make even a hospital gown look good," Sap said with a prideful grin.

"I'm just glad to see you're okay," I said.

"Awwww, poor Georgie missed Sapnap. Hey, speaking of missed Sapnap, where's Dream?"

I glanced at the doctor, hoping that he could give Sapnap the answers I did not have.

"Since the accident," the doctor began. "Dream has been in... well... a state of comatose. We are not completely sure about how he will be when he wakes up, but we can have hope," he said, giving Sap and I a sympathetic smile.

My heart dropped. All that had happened was my fault. I shouldn't have distracted Dream from driving. I should have warned him sooner. I shouldn't have come to Florida in the first place.

Sap most have seen the guilt written all over my face.

"George," he started. "This isn't your fault. None of us knew that the driver would fall asleep and cross over the lane of traffic. None of us knew any of this would happen," he said, gesturing to the room around him.

Tears filling my eyes, I walked over to the chair beside Sapnap's bed, sat down, buried my face in Sap's sheets, and cried.

I felt Sapnap rubbing my back and muttering,

"It's okay, it's okay," to try and sooth me and help me calm down.

After a while, I fell asleep.
