I pointed out once I'd caught up with Bucky and we walked side by side.

"Yeah." He bluntly nodded, taking the conversation no further.

Getting the impression he wasn't in the mood for talking, I kept quiet, keeping our walk silent. At least, for a short moment before Bucky spoke up again.

"Your hair used to be longer, it used to go down your back."

My head slowly turned up, looking up at him and then down at my hair which had been cut to my shoulders.

"Yes," I said, "It was Hayley's idea, she said it'd look nice."

"It does." He kept his head facing forward but stole a couple glances in my direction. I smiled to myself, happy to be with Bucky again.

Once on the plane, I sat myself down on the red seats opposite the ones that Sam lay on with Bucky sat on a box sort of between us. For a while, no one spoke. We just sat in silence.

Bucky looked as though he'd zoned out, deep in thought with his hands held in each other and his stare keeping to the floor sternly. He had taken his jacket off and now sat in an all black outfit with dog tags hanging from his neck.

"You alright?" Sam asked him, breaking the silence.

Bucky slowly nodded. "Let's take the shield, Sam." He said, not moving his gaze. "Let's take the shield and do this ourselves."

"We can't just run up on the man, beat him up and take it." Sam said before he sat up. "Do you remember what happened the last time we stole it?"

"Maybe."

"I'll help you in case you forgot. Sharon was branded enemy of the state, and Steve and I were on the run for two years."

Sam then nodded in my direction, making Bucky slightly turn his head to me, "Eris had to go back to Asgard, which she can't now. I don't know about you, but I don't wanna live the rest of my life la vida loca. We just got our ass handed to us by Super Soldiers, and we got nothing."

"Not entirely true." Bucky said. He then lifted himself off the box, sitting beside Sam. "There is someone...that...you should meet."

About 30 minutes later, Bucky had moved himself back onto the box and Sam had fallen asleep, light snores coming from him as he lay on the red seating. I stood up, making my way to the box and sitting in the space beside Bucky.

"You been holding up okay?" I asked him carefully, keeping my voice fairly quiet as not to wake Sam but also not to frighten Bucky.

He nodded a couple times, slowly. "Yeah, have you? How's Hayley?"

"Hayley's okay and I've been as well as I can." I slightly bobbed my head as I spoke, nodding.

"Good, that's good. I'm glad." Bucky said as I turned to look at him and he looked back at me. "You look good."

I smiled at him, "thank you. So do you. I like short hair on you." Bucky mustered up a small smile but turned his head to look forward. "I mean, I liked your long hair but short's also nice."

"I needed a change." He almost muttered in a whisper.

"Yeah," I responded, but I did so quietly that I'm not too sure he heard. "So do I."

Baltimore, Maryland

"Hey! It's black falcon!" A kid shouted from just down the path as he sat with another boy who was slightly older.

"It's just Falcon, kid." Sam responded, not seeming pleased.

"No,no. My daddy told me it's Black Falcon."

"Is it because I'm black and I'm the Falcon?" Sam queried as the three of us came to a stop in front of the two kids.

"Well, technically, I mean, yes."

"So, are you like, Black Kid?"

The older boy laughed as the younger one looked away and sighed in defeat.

Sam chuckled, giving the older boy a high five. "I got him, right?"

Bucky had walked ahead, walking up some stairs which lead to a little, two floor house.

"What is this place, Bucky?" I asked once I'd joined him and Sam on the porch.

Bucky didn't reply but knocked on the door which was soon answered by a boy.

"We're here to see Isaiah." Bucky told the boy.

"Nobody named Isaiah lives here." The boy responded.

Bucky swallowed, "look, we just want to talk to him."

"You must not hear what I just said. You ain't getting in this house. Y'all can leave now."

Bucky stayed silent for a split second. "Tell him the guy from the bar in Goyang is here. He's gonna know what that means."

"Alright, wait here."

Once the boy had shut the door again and gone back inside for a moment, Sam spoke. "Nice kid." He said, "how do you know this guy?"

"I used to." Bucky replied. "We had a skirmish during the Korean War."

The boy opened the door again, letting us in. "Today's your lucky day. He said he wanna see for himself."

I followed in after Bucky with Sam staying close behind me as we entered the house. I looked around the room a little bit before my eyes rested on an older black man that stood before us.

"Isaiah."Bucky greeted.

"Look at you." The man, Isaiah, said.

"This is, uh, Sam and Eris. Sam, Eris this is Isaiah. He was a hero. One of the ones that HYDRA feared the most. Like Steve. We met in '51."

"If by met you mean I whupped your ass, then, yeah. We heard whispers he was on the peninsula, but everyone they sent after him never came came back. So the U.S military dropped me behind the line to go deal with him. I took half that metal arm in that fight in Goyang, but I see he's managed to grow it back." Isaiah explained, "I just wanted to see if he got the arm back. Or if he'd come to kill me."

Bucky swallowed again, almost nervously this time, "I'm not a killer anymore." His voice was quiet and I could've sworn I saw his eyes nearly gloss over.

Isaiah looked at Bucky for a moment. "You think you can wake up one day and decide who you wanna be? It doesn't work like that. Well, maybe it does for folks like you."

"Isaiah the reason we're here is because there's more of you and me out there."

"You and me." Isaiah's tone was full of hate and disgust.

"And we need to know how."

"I'm not gonna talk about it anymore." Isaiah then picked up a metal tin, throwing it at the wall and it got stuck. The tin had become one with the wall and my eyes were wide as I looked at it. This was man was a super soldier, just like Steve, but I'd never heard of him.

Isaiah moved so he was now stood directly in front of Bucky. "You know what they did to me for being a hero? They put my ass in jail...for 30 years. People running tests," his voice was shaking, "taking my blood, coming into my cell. Even your people weren't done with me."

"Isaiah..." Sam said.

"Get out of my house!" He yelled, slightly making me jump at the outburst.

I stood for a second, feeling as though I couldn't move as I thought it all over. Everything Isaiah had said. I felt someone's hand gently wrap around my wrist, making me look up to see Bucky looking at me with sad eyes. I followed him and Sam as the boy ushered us out the house.
