"Yeah, of course, bud." Ethan said and invited him in. Grayson walked into the living room and placed his bag by the couch.
Ethan closed the door and I turned to him.
"I told you!" I whispered so Grayson wouldn't hear. "She had an affair."
"Okay, we don't know that." He held onto my arms are looked down the hallway to Grayson. "Maybe he just needs time away from everything."
"You know that's not true." I looked up at him and began to walk towards Grayson.
Grayson was sitting on the couch with his hood over his head and he looked down at his lap.
Ethan and I sat down on the other side of the couch. I didn't know whether it was the right time to ask what happened or to just let him be for a few moments.
"I-uh-" I stuttered and looked at Ethan.
"Grayson-" Ethan said as well.
Grayson let out a loud sigh. He wiped his right eye and pulled his hood off of his head.
"She cheated on me." He said with no facial expression. "She's having a baby with another man."
I looked over to Ethan and he looked right back at me. We both didn't really know what to say, it was never an easy thing to talk about.
"Gra-" Ethan started to say.
"I just can't wrap my head around this." Grayson stood up and started to pace the living room. "It's happening all over again and I can't take it anymore." He threw his hands up.
"No, no, don't say that Grayson." I stood up and walked over to him. I put my hand on his arm to try and calm him down. "This is not like Willow."
"How is it not?" He took a step back. "They both cheated and left me in the fucking dust!" He raised his voice.
"Grayson, calm down." Ethan stood in front of me and put his hand in front of his brother's chest.
"I am calm!" He yelled back.
"Okay, you're clearly not. Let's just take a second to calm down and we can talk about this, alright?"

"I'm fine!" He continued to yell, startling me a little bit. "It's just my fucking wife is having a baby with another man! Clearly isn't nothing to be upset about!" He paced over to the dining room table and sat down in the chair.
"Grayson." Ethan and I walked over. He put his hand on Grayson's back.
"And she told my fucking kid." He put his hands over his face. "I had to hear this from my little girl." He was breathing heavily, his hands covered his face and his voice was extremely shaky.
I looked up to Ethan because I didn't know what to do or say. He was so caught up in his emotions and that resulted in his lashing out actions. There was no saying if he was going to snap at someone or just cry it out.
"I need some air." He stood up quickly and walked out to the backyard.
"What do we do?" I turned to Ethan and whispered since Grayson left the door wide open.
"I don't know if we can do anything. You remember what happened to Willow, right? He was stuck on her for years."
"We can't let him crawl back to her like he did with Willow. That's just toxic."
"I know, but what else can we do? He's an adult, we can't just control his life whenever he has a girl issue. This is much more serious than some teenage love drama. This is his family, this could tear his family apart."
"I just don't want him to go through this alone, you know?" I put my hand on his arm.
"I know, I don't either." He pulled me into his chest and Grayson walked back in the house. He wiped some tears off of his cheek.
He walked over to the couch and sat down without saying a word. He let out a stressed sigh and I walked over to him. I sat down on the coffee table that was in front of him.
"Grayson." I said and he didn't look up from him lap. "Grayson." I said again and a tear fell from his cheek. "Look at me Grayson." I placed my hand on his arm and he lifted up his head.

Multiple tears slowly slid down his two cheeks.
"You don't know how sorry I am." I grabbed his hand and Ethan walked over to my side. "We both love you so, so much and we never wanted this to ever happen to you."
"And we want to do everything we can to help you." Ethan said.
"Are you gonna ban me to see Vivian like you did with Willow?" He rolled his eyes.
"Grayson." Ethan said and sat down next to me on the coffee table. "We're adults. We're not going to force you to do anything. We're here to cheer you up and support you."
Grayson leaned back on the couch with his arms crossed. He didn't say anything for a couple of moments, but he finally did speak up eventually.
"Thanks." He looked up at Ethan and I. We both smiled and nodded back his direction. "Sorry for yelling earlier." He directly looked at me.
"It's okay." I nodded.
Ethan placed his hand on my lower back to give me some comfort.
"We have an extra bed upstairs that you can sleep in." Ethan stood up.
"No, it's okay, I'll sleep on the couch." Grayson patted the grey couch.
"We can put some new sheets on it in five minutes." I said, trying to get him to be as comfortable as possible.
"I'm already barging in on you guys, I don't want to take too much room. I'll sleep on the couch." He repeated.
I looked to Ethan and he just shrugged his shoulders.
"Am I allowed to give you a blanket?" I stood up and lightly joked.
"That, I would really like." Grayson smiled as well. I walked over to a bin of all of our blankets and handed him the comfiest one. "Thank you."
"Is there anything else we can get for you?" Ethan asked from the kitchen as I was walking in that direction.
"No, I don't want to be a bother. I'll find it myself when I need something." He turned to us and smiled.
I felt bad.
"We'll be upstairs if you need us, okay?" I said lightly. Grayson nodded and laid his head on the couch arm rest.
Ethan and I turned the lights off downstairs and we walked up the stairs to our bedroom.
I closed the door since I was the last one in. Ethan sat on the foot of the bed and just looked up at me.
"What do we do?" I whispered just in case.
"I-" Ethan shrugged his shoulders. "I don't think we can do anything? This is his family business, we can't get involved."
"But it's Grayson." I walked over and stood right in front of Ethan. "He's our family."
"I know. He's my brother, he's my best friend, but nothing I do or say is going to help him in this." He grabbed a hold of my waist and pulled me closer to him.
"You know I can't just sit and let this play out." I sat in his lap and he pulled my legs on the bed. I rested my head on his chest as well.
"I know." He kissed my head.
He sway us back and forth for a few moments before stopping. He placed me fully on the bed, so my head was on the pillows and he leaned over me.
"Look, we aren't going to let this take over our emotions because we're have our baby party tomorrow." He smiled. "Everyone's going to have a good time, especially us, alright?"
I nodded and a light smile emerged from my lips. Ethan leaned down and lightly pressed his lips onto mine for a few seconds.
"Let me take care of everything and you just relax." He placed his hand on my belly.
"Okay.." I said lightly. "I'll try."
Ethan rested his head on my chest and lightly rubbed his thumb on my light baby bump.
I ran my fingers through his soft hair as we were both silent. It was a really sweet moment.

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
