《Alpha Human》The Final Chapter Part 1

"You're scared?" my father asked randomly as he looked at me as we sat alone in the living room. I don't know how he guessed it, I had tried my best to conceal my fear from everyone else. To be strong they needed to see strength.
I sat up from my gaze, "No" I lied.
"It's alright to be" he said to me. "I can't imagine what the weight on your shoulders must feel like. You're only a boy You know I never wanted this to you"
"What did you think was going to happen, then. Sooner or later my abilities would've been activated." I said to him.
"I guess I just never thought that it would come to something like this."
Grant came in stopping our conversation. "God that felt good" he said coming in looking more clean. He had shaved his beard off, and put on some fresh clothes that Jacob had given him.
Harry walked in and looked him up and down, "Thank god you took a shower, I don't think I could've taken that stench any longer" he spoke rudely.
"You must be Harry, the ass hole that no one likes" Grant said to him with a smirk. I couldn't help but laugh, no one could've given a better explanation.
Harry looked angry, but didn't have a comeback. Grant took a seat down beside me. "What is my brother doing here?" he asked me.
"He's here to help." i answered. "He happens to be one of the brilliant minds of New York City" I said recognizing in the two years I was away hed graduated top of his class at MIT and was a top researcher.
"Brilliant?" Grant repeated. "He could barely stand up for himself in high school, brilliant is an over statement"

I could see now where Chris got his attitude from. "Maybe if you'd put the faith in him that you put in me. Then he wouldn't be such an attention seeking brat"
"Yeah, our parents gave him enough of that" he answered.
Jacob stepped in front of me, and gave Grant a dirty look. "Get up" he said to him rudely.
Grant sat up to face him better, "Am I bothering you?" he asked.
"I don't want you near Samuel. You might come up with another way to betray him" he said.
"He's right" Harry said to Grant. "How are we supposed to trust a convict who in fact started all of this?"
I stood up tired of the arguing. "We don't have time to pick teams" I said, "There's a powerful man out there trying to destroy the freedom that we have fought to protect. If we don't find a way to fight together, then we might not be able to fight at all."
Chris put his wait against the wall of the living room, and spoke up. "I hate to admit it, but he's right" he spoke, "In the past two years he has taken more and more freedom. If we let him continue, there won't be any more to take. "
I nodded towards him a thanks, then grabbed the suit I had left on the coffee table. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm willing to fight to my last breath to make sure this guy never reaches full power." With that I walked off into the bathroom to change.
Once I came back everything had calmed down, and everyone seemed more subtle. "Wow" Harry said to me looking me up and down in the suit. "As if I didn't think that you were the biggest dork before"

I let out a chuckle, good to know he still had a sense of humor even after what was about to happen. "Don't listen to your cousin" my father encouraged, "You look great"
I faced grant, "I will need a few gadgets, and an interior map of the white house" he nodded agreeing.
"And what am I useful for?" Harry asked.
"That's the million-dollar question" Grant said.
"Harry will join me in the fields" I said to him.
Jacob stood quickly objecting. "He is not going anywhere" he protested. "He's got no abilities, and he's not smart either, he'd get killed."
"Wow, dad you have so much faith in me" Harry said.
"He was varsity captain in baseball, soccer, and football. Besides. I only need him on the outside. I'm not taking him inside the white house with me" I explained. "He will be safe with me, Jacob. I won't let anything happen to him."
Jacob calmed down and sat back down. "I just feel a bit anxious about him going out there"
"It's alright, fathers aren't usually chipper about sending their sons to fight a war." I said, "Unless you have my father"
My father took the blow, but didn't respond. Instead he stood up, and walked out of the back door. "Ouch" Harry commented.
"We leave tonight, and attack on the element of surprise"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa" Grant said. "Do you even have a plan?"
"Harry will drive us into the driveway, and my father, and I will be on the front lines"
"And me?" Jacob asked. "I'm pretty handy with a gun"
"Fine, then. You can come too" I agreed. "After we get in we'll be able to take out his security, and kill the president."
"That's it?" Harry asked.
"What'd you expect?" I asked.
"I don't know, you're a superhero right?"
"A superhero?" I repeated, "The president of the United States wants my head on a platter, so that he may start world war three. I think were way past the stereotypes by now"
Harry smiled, "You are one depressing superhero"
I looked at my watch. It was six thirty-nine. "It's time" I said.
My father walked in shortly afterwards, which I guessed was because he heard me. "Samuel, can I speak to you for a bit" Jacob asked me.
I nodded in approval, and we both went out onto the porch. "Is everything okay?" I asked him.
"Yeah" he answered. "I just wanted you to know that your father is stupid, and at times he doesn't make the right decisions. He looks for the easy way out, not the best way."
"Is there a point to all of this?"
"He's a good guy, and all he's ever wanted to do was make sure that you had the best life that he could give to you"
"By making me into this?" I asked.
"I know his motives seem unclear at times, but you should cut the guy some slack. He's been through so much, and I know it may be hard to see since he is so hard to read. But he does mean well, and someday, and I'm not saying today or tomorrow. You're going to have to forgive him."
I nodded.
The door opened slowly, revealing Harry. "Everyone's ready" he said.
"Alright then, let's get this show on the road" I said with a smile.
