《Nick Wilde X Reader | A New Partner》Ticket Scalping

A staticy voice came through the speaker, "Here you are... 50 tickets.". The glass wall wasn't very clean, but you could see it was a koala bear running the ticket booth.

"Thank you sir." Nick took the string of tickets and folded them up.

Turning around, you saw the line for the ticket booth stretch down to the sidewalk and off to the right. It wasn't moving very fast, which was good--for you two, anyways.

"So now what?"

"Well... first we need our permits." They were still in the van.

"Oh right right.."

"Heh, one time I got caught without my permit," He shook his head, "never again."

After collecting the permits and dividing the tickets, he explained how ticket scalping worked. It was... pretty obvious; the need to get in or past the line had to be worth spending extra. Shouldn't bother with anyone who looks like they wouldn't spend extra; they'll just get mad and might try to cause trouble.

Nick closed the door and pointed near the end of the line. "See that family of cats near the end, there?"

"The mom, dad, and four kittens, yeah?"

"Mhmm, watch and learn."

You strolled off towards the side to watch how Nick would approach them. As you got closer, you could discern the cats' conversations.

"How long is this line??" Came from one of the kittens; a brown tabby.

"It's not that long! We'll be in before you know it!" The dad, who was also a brown tabby, tried to reassure them.

You saw Nick casually approach them; He scooted close, but not too close. The two adult cats that continually tried to prevent the kittens from being too rowdy we're barely shorter than Nick.

"But it's sooo hot out here!" One of the other kittens, a fluffy grey one, was fanning herself dramatically.

Nick made his entrance: "Whew, it's pretty hot in Sahara Square, isn't it?" It was obviously directed at the fluffy-kitten's last remark.

The kitten immediately responded, "Yes! That's what I've been saying!"

Nick smirked and looked at the dad, who turned his attention to Nick, "Alright, what is it you need?"

He was straight to the point, but you were sure Nick could still get a sale from him.

"Well, I was going to offer some tickets to help you guys escape this awful heat."

He bent down a bit to get more on-level with the kittens who were happy to hear about getting past the line, "Maybe even get in to some of the rides early, or find some ice cream.." He winked.

"Aw cool!" The little kitties all seemed excited as they hopped around.

The mom injected, "Wait, not so fast."

"Please, mom!"

"C'mon, the line'll take forever!"

Seeing his kids like this, you knew the dad would have a hard time resisting. He crossed his arms, "So, how much are these tickets..?"

"For you and your family, just $30."

The dad exchanged a glance at the mom and she gave a shrug. "Alright, alright," The kittens beamed, "$30."

Nick leaned back slightly from the decisive victory. The dad thumbed out three $10 bills and Nick split off 6 tickets.

He waved at the kittens who ran off towards the entrance and called, "Pleasure doing business with you!"

Nick put away the $30 as you walked up. "See? Easy."

"Hmpt. I'm sure you just make it look that way.."

"Maybe.. but now it's your turn." He handed you the tickets.
