《Lombardi - Finn Shelby》Visiting Aunt Pol

I pushed the black pram through the rocky street when I heard someone call my name. Me and Finn turned around to see... Milo.
"Hello Rosie, Finn," he nodded to me and Finn. God what a horrible nickname.
"Hi Milo, what are you doing running around?" I asked trying desperately to act normal.
"Oh just running some errands, you know for my new job." Milo smiled towards us.
"Where do you work again?" Finn asked squinting his eyes.
"In a pub, it's great," he responded grinning again.
"What pub is it, what do you do you do there?" I asked hoping to catch him out again.
"Make drinks, you know the usual." He replied.
He didn't answer my first question.
"Oh well have fun Milo, we're going to go now." Finn said taking my arm gently.
"Bye guys." He told us running off again.
"Where does he work again?" I joked sarcastically.
"No idea," Finn laughed.
We finally got to the betting shop and we walked through looking for Polly. We found her smoking in her office.
"Hey Polly," I said pushing the pram into the bard office.
"Hello Rose, how have you been?" She asked putting the cigarette out.
"Good, but in here to ask if you have any of my parents telephone numbers, or addresses?"
"Why?" He asked putting the newspaper she just picked up back down.
"I desperately need to contact them," I told her desperately.
"Alright, fine. I have their address, let me go write it down." She told me strutting out the room quickly.
"Thanks Pol!" I shouted after her.
I took John out of his pram and kissed his small head.
"I really hope he becomes ginger," I randomly blurted and Finn laughed at me.

"What?" He asked still chucking.
"I want him to be ginger." I resumed cradling the crying baby.
"Here we go, do you know where this is?" Polly asked shocking the paper and I nodded.
It was in London, the house I lived in up until I was eleven.
"Looks like we're going on a holiday Finn," I said standing up.
"What why?" He asked standing up as well taking the pram.
"We're going to London, thank you Polly, Bye" I stared waving at Polly smiling at Finn reassuringly.
—
We were getting ready to go to London for a few day when there was a couple knocks on the door. I traveled over to see Milo. Why is he always around:
"Sorry Milo, can't talk right now, why don't you come back next week maybe." I suggested and his smile fell.
"Oh okay, but you better be ready. I want to go on a siblings trip, you can bring John." Milo said smiling once again. He ran off and looked around worriedly.
I closed the door quickly and sighed with relief. Thank God he was gone.
"Who was it?" I heard Finn yell from our room.
"It was Milo, but he's gone now!" I shouted back.
"Okay," he replied.
I walked into our bedroom to see him packing a few things for us and then for John.
"Milo wants to go on a siblings trip with me and John," I told him and he snapped his head towards me.
"Yeah that's not happening," he said protectively.
"I know don't worry. Are you ready?"
"Ready for what?" He asked stupidly.
"London," I responded.
"Uh, Yeah. I've never been before," he told me.
"Are we going by the canal?" I asked him and he nodded.

"It's easier." He told me and I nodded.
We went to Charlie's yard and he let us take a boat. There wasn't a cover, it was just a boat.
Let's just hope it doesn't rain.
—
It had been ages and we had finally got into London. It luckily didn't rain, thank God.
Polly told us that when we got there, there would be a car waiting for us. And there was. Finn placed our things inside whilst I held John.
Throughout the boring car journey I told Finn the directions.
"Finn go left," I instructed but he went right. "Fucks sake Finn do you not know your left from right?" I asked irritated with him.
"Calm down, it was a mistake." He told me and I glared at him my blue eye becoming darker:
"Stop here, this is it!" I screamed.
"Alright, alright. You don't have to scream down my ear hole." Finn told me stopping the car.
I got out of the car and slammed it shut with all the force I had with my one arm. Finn took John as I had been holding most of the time. I hesitated knocking slowly on the door.
The door opened and my mum peeked her head through the small gap.
"Rose?" She asked, she saw Finn and John and put her hand across her mouth in shock. She opened the door wider and looked at John. "He's beautiful," she cried smiling.
"Mum, I came here to ask you and dad some questions. Do you mind if we come in?" I asked her sheepishly.
"You can stay for however long you want, I'm sure we have your old cot somewhere," My mum answered letting us in.
"Gabriele, Rose And Finn Are here!" My mum yelled up the stairs.
"I'm coming!" My dad shouted back down.
He came down smiling "Roseline, how have you been?" He asked hugging me. We parted and I saw him give Finn a snarky look whilst my um glared at him for being rude, I guess she finally accepted us.
"Is this my grandson?" He asked and I looked at him confused.
"How did you know it's a boy?"
"I can predict things Rose, and I guessed." He laughed.
Finn passed John to my mum, she cradled the baby showing my father as well.
"You know Finn, you guys look like twins. He's gonna be a looker," my mum smiled making him blush.
"Well the John we named him after was a bugger but a looker as well." I stated and Finn laughed nodding. "Sorry Finn it's the truth," I chuckled as well.
"So who's the John he was named after?" My dad asked and I felt myself become emotional.
"Well, He is named after John Shelby, Finns brother. He was a good friend of mine. He helped me find my way to Easton's house after school." I said crying slightly.
Finn hugged me and kissed my head.
"Now mum, dad? I have some questions to ask you so can you sit down please." I told them changing the subject.
Right here we go...

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
