*BRIAN*
“But don’t worry, I’ll take care of her.” Aubrey said in an evil voice that made my blood run cold.
I held Kate tighter, to show Aubrey that I wasn’t going to let anything happen to Kate and she shook her head.
“Huh huh. Bitch, get away from him.” She said, pointing to Kate.
Kate shook her head and Aubrey laughed darkly. She slid the French door shut and put her hands behind her back. When she brought them around to the front, she was holding a giant knife in her hands. It looked like the ones Michael Myers used in the Halloween movies.
“I’m not playing, get away from him.” She said again.
Kate just held me tighter. Aubrey stomped over to us and grabbed Kate hair and pulled hard. Kate shrieked and her hands flew to the back of her head and Aubrey dragged her away from me. Aubrey picked up a bundle of rope from the ground and threw it to Kate.
“Now, tie him up.” She ordered. Kate shook her head.
Aubrey glared and walked over to Kate and held the knife to her throat.
“Do it, or I’ll slit your throat wide open.” She whispered harshly.
My heart dropped to my stomach.
“Kate just do it!” I shouted to her.
A tear slipped from her eye as she walked over to me.
“Tie his hands up over his head on the beam, and make them tight. I don’t want him to get loose.” Aubrey told Kate.
I put my arms up and Kate started wrapping the rope around my wrists. She left me a lot of slack and I shook my head.
“Kate, don’t. Make it tight.” I whispered to her.
I didn’t want to give Aubrey any reason to hurt her if I could help it. Kate’s eyes locked with mine for a moment before she yanked hard on the rope. I winced as I felt the rope cut into my flesh. She mouthed ‘sorry’ to me before Aubrey pulled her away from me.
“You look so sexy tied up like that Synyster. We’ll have to play later.” Aubrey said with a wink.
I led out a groan of disgust and looked away. Aubrey just laughed and circled Kate like a shark in the water about to devour its prey.
“I still don’t know what he saw in you. You’re just so, so plain. I mean, you were a photographer for God’s sake. You never even worked with bands before and they just scoop you up and take you on tour. You didn’t have to try or anything and they all loved you. What makes you so God dammed special!” She shouted as she walked around Kate.

“That’s exactly why we loved her. She didn’t try to be anything she wasn’t.” I spat at Aubrey. Her head whipped around so she was looking at me.
I saw Kate reached behind her and grab an empty beer bottle. I nodded slowly as Aubrey walked closer to me.
“But she will never be able to handle your lifestyle. I mean come on, she texted you every day, she called you twice a day, then called your band mates to try and get in touch with you. She just couldn’t understand that that’s what happens when you’re a famous rockstar. You go on tour and fuck other girls, she’ll never be able to deal with that.” Aubrey ranted.
Kate crept up behind her and just as she was about to say something else, Kate smashed it over her head. Aubrey screamed and staggered back. Blood ran down her face and she glared at Kate.
“You bitch.” She said as she wiped the blood away.
“Kate, run!” I shouted to her as I tried to get free. I regret telling her to tie me tight.
Kate started running to the French doors when Aubrey grabbed her by the back of the head again and threw her back into a table. She screamed and fell to the floor.
“Kate, get up baby.” I said to her.
Slowly Kate pulled herself up and Aubrey was running at her. Kate pulled her arm back and punched her square in the nose. Blood came spurting out of it and onto her shirt. Aubrey let out an angry yell and punched Kate back. She waivered and shook her head and Aubrey grabbed a chair and hit Kate hard with it.
“No!” I shouted as Kate fell down.
She didn’t move right away. My breath got quicker and I struggled to free my wrists.
“Kate! Please Kate get up.” I shouted to her.
I saw her move her arm and try to push herself up. Before she could, Aubrey kicked her hard in the side.
“AHH!” Kate screamed and drew herself into a fetal position.
Over and over Aubrey kicked and stomped Kate. Each time I swear I could feel every blow. Kate stopped screaming after a while and just took the beatings. Her white shirt became stained with blood and her face was streaked with tears.
Finally, when Aubrey stopped kicking her, she walked over to the bar where she’s put the knife and picked it up.

“I’ve never been good with competition Kate.” Aubrey said. Kate struggled to pick her head up and look at me.
I held my breath and stood perfectly still. Aubrey bent down so that she was close to Kate’s ear.
“I’ll see you in hell.” She whispered before she thrust the knife into Kate’s stomach.
“NOO!” I shouted. Kate’s eyes just grew wide and she kept them fixed on me.
I could see the pain and fear in them as Aubrey pushed the knife deeper in. With a sick smile, Aubrey pulled it out quick. Blood poured from Kate’s stomach and she lied still.
“Kate! KATE! Baby, open your eyes for me please!” I begged her. She didn’t move.
I knew when she didn’t move she was gone. I felt my legs go weak and I let myself be held up by my wrists. My heart was burning and I couldn’t stop myself from crying. Aubrey walked over and wrapped her arms around me.
“Awe baby, don’t cry. I’m here. We can be together now.” She said softly.
My anger boiled inside of me and I thrashed against my bonds.
“You crazy bitch! Do you honestly think that I would want to be with you after you killed the love of my life? You’re out of your mind! As soon as I can I’ll calling the cops and you’re going to jail for the rest of your life.” I shouted at her.
Aubrey gave me a look of confusion. She stepped back from me and backed up against the bar. She was still holding the bloody knife and she put her fists to her temples.
“I’m not going to jail. We’re going to be together.” She mumbled.
“Over my dead body.” I told her.
Her hands started to shake and she shook her head.
“No, no NO!” She shouted and hit herself in the head.
I heard the French door open and saw Chase slowly walk through it, he was holding a gun.
“Aubrey, what did you do?” He asked.
I looked up at Chase and wrinkled my eyebrows together. Chase walked over to Kate and put his fingers to her neck. His head snapped up and he looked at me.
“She’s alive! But barely.” He told me.
I felt like the wind was knocked out of me. Kate was still alive.
“Aubrey, sweetie put the knife down okay?” Chase said to her slowly.
Aubrey shook her head and put the knife to her throat.
“Why doesn’t he love me Chase? I’ve done everything, I even changed my hair color so I look like her but he still doesn’t love me.” She said. Tears were running down her face and she was shaking.
Chase shook his head and took a step closer to her.
“Honey, it doesn’t matter if you change your hair or clothes, Brian just isn’t in love with you. He’s in love with Kate. Did you really think that he’d fall for you after you killed his girlfriend?” He asked her.
Aubrey looked down in embarrassment and pressed the knife harder to her neck.
“Then I don’t want to live. Not if he won’t love me.” She said.
“Aubrey, no!” Chase shouted.
Before she could pulled the blade across her neck, a pop came from the door and Aubrey went down. Chase and I were still. A second later, Aubrey was moaning in pain and an army of police officers were coming through the door.
“I called them on my way over, just in case.” Chase said as he came over to untie me.
“Kate, please check on Kate.” I told him after he got one arm free.
Chase ran over and put his hand back on Kate’s neck and sighed.
“She’s still breathing.” He said. I closed my eyes and sighed in relief.
By the time I was free, the paramedics were loading Kate up onto the stretcher.
“Multiple injuries, one deep stab wound to the stomach, excessive blood loss. Let’s get her to the hospital asap!” A paramedic shouted.
“I’m coming with you.” I told them.
They looked at each other and nodded and I got into the ambulance with Kate. I put my hand on her face and just caressed it.
“It’ll be okay baby, everything will be okay.” I whispered softly in her ear.
One of the paramedics gave me a sympathetic glance and started putting and I.V. into Kate’s arm.

This quest will either see von Bolstedt's shaken faith in his own god reforged into an intolerant blade, or shattered like ice. Word from the AuthorGreetings! Witch Hunt plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This is the second part of the adventures of Adebar von Bolstedt, as such I recommend reading part one, titled "The Hand of Sigmar" first. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.
