━︎━︎ IN WHICH SHE TELLS HIM HER NAME
Edith watched as the train rode away, past the bridge. They were safe, for now at least.
All of them were panting as they laid on the grass, taking a moment before they would have to stand up.
Tewksbury sat up and groaned as he swiped grass off of his beige trousers. Enola sat up, her hair a mess — Edith could only Imagine how messy her own hair was currently.
Edith sat up and immediately noticed the hole in her brown trousers on the knee. Through the hole you could see her skin was grazed by — what she guessed — the rock that lay beside her, she was just glad it wasn't her head suffering from the injury.
"You do make an awful lot of noise, don't you?" Enola asked as more of a statement than a question as she looked at the Marques of Basilwether.
The boy stopped removing grass from his clothes as he leaned back a bit. "Well, it turns out, being thrown off a train hurts considerably more than you might think" he retorted and continued to swipe grass off of his sleeves. "And I've lost a button" he added as Enola looked away.
Edith took in a deep breath as she searched her pockets for anything to cover the graze with. It was bleeding so she had to apply something to it, but she couldn't find anything.
"Does anyone have anything? Like a handkerchief or something" Edith asked as she pointlessly continued searching in her pockets.
Enola and Tewksbury both turned their heads to look at the girl who's brown trousers were soaking with blood, creating a dark rim around the hole of her trousers.
"You're bleeding!" Viscount exclaimed as he and Enola stood up.
"Really?! I didn't notice!" Edith retorted as the two quickly made their way towards her.

"I have a roll bandage in my pocket somewhere" Enola told the girl as she rummaged through her pockets.
"No time" said the boy as he quickly took off his blazer and knelt down next to Edith. "There" he said as he handed her the beige blazer.
"Are you sure?" Edith asked as she hesitantly took the blazer from him.
"Yes"
"It looks expen—" Edith started to say but was caught off guard when he ripped the blazer out of her hand and applied it to her knee himself. She winced in pain from the sudden pressure on her knee.
"You saved me, and you" he said and turned to look at Enola before looking back at Edith. "So I guess this is my thank you" he said as Edith held the beige material to her knee and he let go.
"Thank you" Edith said with a gentle smile as she watched Tewksbury grin down I at her and then stand up.
. . .
Once the graze had stopped bleeding and his beige sweater had red blood stains covering it the three set out to find their way out of the fields.
"You know you've entirely ruined phase three of our plan" Enola told Tewksbury who was walking behind the two girls, hands in his pockets. Enola supported Edith as they walked as she couldn't keep up with their pace by herself.
"What? The pirate treasure quest?" Tewksbury asked with a goofy grin and Enola scrunched up her face with confusion, looking at Edith from the side.
"Not the time to explain" Edith told her and she nodded.
"What even are your names?" Viscount suddenly asked after a moment of silence but got no response from neither of the girl. "Look, I believe our recent brush with death deserves me at least a name"
Enola took off her blazer and said "Enola Holmes".
"Holmes. . . like Sherlock?" He asked as he made his way to stand beside her.

"And I am undercover so forget I told you that piece of information" Enola told him as she picked up her pace, walking faster than before.
"Slow down, Holmes" Edith said.
"Oh, right. Sorry" she apologised and started to walking slightly slower.
"Undercover for him?"
"Undercover from him" Enola corrected as she put her jacket under her arm.
"Hence why you're both dressed as boys"
"Hence why you are to say nothing!" Enola said as she stopped walking and stuck an arm out to make him stop as well.
Enola grew annoyed by the boy and unwrapped her arm from Edith's waist, quickly walking away from the two, leaving Edith with her mouth agape.
Without question, the boy wrapped his arm around Edith's waist, making her jerk back slightly.
"And what do you think your doing?" Edith asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Helping you walk?"
"I can manage by myself, thank you" Edith said as she turned her body to start walking. Her walk included a limp and it hurt slightly when she bent her knee but she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of showing that she need help.
Tewksbury followed right beside Edith — who was trying to do everything to not make eye contact.
"And what about you, brownie?" Tewksbury asked.
"What?"
"You're name?"
"What about my name?" she said with false confidence and continued to walk without replying.
"Oh, come on" he wined. "It's just a name, I need to know who I'm walking with and if their not a murder" Viscount said, causing Edith to pause in her tracks and him to look at her with confusion. "You're not a murder, right?"
"O-of course not" she stuttered as she looked around, avoiding his eyes.
"Wait a minute"
"No"
"I know where I've seen you" he said as he pointed a finger at her.
"No, you don't"
"You were in that newspaper a few years ago" he said and realisation grew on his face. "Oh my, you are a murderer" he said as he took a step back in fear.
Edith looked away as she closed her eyes, after a moment she said "I do blame myself for Billy's death, but I am no murder"
She suddenly felt a hand gently moving her face to the left. She opened her red and puffy eyes to be met with his honey brown ones.
"Hey, it's okay" he assured as his hand dropped to his side.
She suddenly felt her heart warm up slightly as she looked down at her feet. "My name's Edith Ainsley and I didn't kill my brother, I was blamed"
He took in a breath before saying "I believe you, Edith"
Hello!
I literally just wrote one of the last chapters for this book on notes because I was afraid I'd forget my idea when it actually came to writing that chapter. But now I'm very motivated to write the rest of this book asap so that's good!
I had no idea what those big roll bandages were called so o just called it a roll bandage, forgive me if that's not the correct name.
I really wanted to write a scene with Tewksbury and Edith talking without Enola being with them. That's why she left Edith, not because she's a bad friend but because I made her.
Also I only started updating this book yesterday and it already has 700+ reads 😮 that amount of reads has never gone up so quickly on any of my books! Tysm :)
And I'm going to be putting gifs on this book later because my internet currently says no
Update 14/11/2020 - after 2/3 month I started putting gifs in, laziness said hello
I hope you enjoyed this chapter, love you guys

Domain of Man
Isolation is terrible. To feel isolated with your fellow man around you is worse. What if you were dumped in some backwards cave somewhere, completely nude, maybe with your family, or even completely alone? The age of pioneers, heroes, generals, and geniuses is long gone. Humankind has become numb to the world around it because of how paltry everything else is compared to the glory of its history, the sheer volume of their accomplishments, and the sum of its innovations. You can interact with people across the world, travel miles in mere hours, and never prepare your own food or shelter, and it's all accessible to even the normalest of individuals. Artificial intelligence is within arms reach in devices and computers and even houses, and neural interfaces aren't exclusive to the rich and powerful at this point. Someone far in the distance took notice of Earth, saw the multitude of hairless apes swarming its surface. That one went down the checklist to see if humanity had, in fact, beaten the 'game' of Life. Sure enough, they had gone above and beyond the requirements, but nobody had been watching. 'Why might that be?', that one wondered. Protocol was protocol, though, no matter how strange the situation was. They pulled the lever, they flipped the switch. It's time for New Game +. ??? Don't be afraid to leave critique or share your support! I really appreciate any feedback you can give. In any case, I sincerely hope you enjoy the story! It's going to be a wild ride. Necromancer's Knight: a Light in Death
It was dark, pitch black. Where am I? Where was I last? I died. Am I still dead? A light so dim, yet so blindingly bright to me appeared in a vertical line. The line grew wider and wider, all until the stone slab above my coffin was completely removed. I removed it, I lifted it, without even willing it. And my body continued to move until it was outside of the crypt. It was night, but there was a full moon. And a little girl in front of me. She clutched a black book to her chest as if it were the last thing she had left in this world. I've heard stories of this, I imagined the possibility, but I never thought it would happen to me. Tears streaked down her cheeks. She choked the words out. "Please, save my papa!"

Shrike
He wants to play the latest and greatest VRMMORPG game, but he can't muster up the cash for the fancy new proprietary hardware and membership license. After months of saving up cash and arduous work, he has built a behemoth of a machine relying almost entirely on seedy old technology and a DIY guide by some dude named "Jimmy Bob." This is the story of his entry into the game. This is also a story of intrigue, exploration, introspection, batshit crazy game design, and unintended but entirely predictable consequences. This is G.C.O. Undergoing a total re-write, mostly because I think things were too rushed rather than any content or direction changes. If you are one of the few who tried Shrike when it was briefly updating, consider giving it another shot. Of no relation to either The Great Crusade or the recent (in 2017 lol) Shrike book for Warhammer by Games Workshop. All similarities in these cases are superficial; please don't sue me. Feedback welcome and encouraged, never be afraid to review or comment. HQ/Kindle-Grade cover art. Book Cover 2.0: "From the Dark"
