《Human Race (Boyxboy) #1》Chapter Fourteen: Power

My body was rigid, unable to move from my spot. The comforts of the bed molded perfectly into my back, lulling me back to a tranquil sleep. The bed never creaked, and had to be made from the softest of material. The best sleep I had in years!

Sam would be jealous.

"Sir! Sir, please wake up!" The voice sounded like it was far away, high pitch and yet manly. Did time even matter anymore?

He presented himself in all blue, but was swallowed in by that distracting piece of metal. Human.

"Your bath is at eight-thirty. Your seamstress will be here around nine-fortyfive. Your tutor will be here at ten, then you will have your next meal at eleven. Then the doctor will see you at eleven-fifteen. After that, you will go back to tutoring. Mr. Copernicus will visit you sometime in the day most likely, but I do not know when. Your tutoring ends at three and then you will be shown around the palace. Please do not try to escape, I am allowed to punish you if necessary. Oh and nice to meet you Sketch, my name is Cal."

I just nodded my head slightly, not knowing what to say. Would I say thanks? No I don't think so. I was taken away from my family only to be kept a human slave.

He just simply smiled at me and turned to go into a door on my left. This was the time I should probably check my surroundings, maybe plan on an escape? I didn't know, Vampires were fast, and he could easily find me. Plus we could be inside the dome and I couldn't go anywhere from here. I would be stuck here, because those walls were impossible to infiltrate.

These walls however, were tan with little white designs on the top of the wall paper that reminded me of some sort of flower. The drapes were a very cloudy color that allowed sun rays to graze the window.

There was a brief knock on the door in front of me, pulling me from examining the rest of the room. On the other side was a girl dressed in a maid outfit, rolling in a cart. The cart had a small red bag, which I knew was a blood bag, two small glasses, a small bottle full of the same red liquid, then a small teapot, and some napkins. I subconsciously scooted back, as I watched her come closer. She smiled at me and I noticed that this girl also had a metal collar that blinked red too.

She came closer to the side of the bed but still nonetheless never wiped that smile off her face. The maid opened the bag of blood and started pouring it into one of the glasses, the thick liquid filling the cup with ease. Cal had come back out with fresh clothes and a smile that meant "do not try me". He placed the clothes on the chair and walked over to the other side of the bed in an attempt to cut me off. Maybe so I couldn't run?

The maid neared me but I didn't move. She looked to Cal for an answer but he only nodded.

"Sketch, I need you to drink this. It will make you feel better."

I just shook my head no. He frowned and stepped closer to me. "Don't make me bring down Ori- I mean Mr. Blackwell—."

"Too bad I'm not drinking it."

"Sketch—"

"Absolutely not!"

"Fine. I'll grab Mr. Blackwell!"

"Do it!"

"As you wish!"

I paced around the room bitter about this whole situation. I wasn't going to end up like that weirdo, but I needed a plan.

"Why have you brought me here?" I asked to no one in particular but was shocked when I received a response.

"You entranced me."

I spun around to face the demon but nearly shuddered once meeting its eyes. The most powerful vampire in all existence. Orion Blackwell.

If only I listened to those stories Sam or Alice told me. Then I would know what to do in such a situation.

"Me? You're the one who dragged me here." I pointed an accusatory finger at the man, but he merely crossed his arms and leaned on the bed post.

"Your power attracted me." he chuckled, "maybe your beauty too."

"What? You're blaming me...and what power? I have no power."

"You do and enough to attract an ancient vampire! You are just a mystery aren't you?"

I scowled, "Well what does this mean? Tell me then!

"I don't know everything, but I can help you." The vampire suggested. "you can stay here with me until we do."

"As if I have a choice!" I then remembered everything about the farm and how it seemed so far away. "I don't even know where to start."

"That's why you need a teacher, someone who can teach you everything about the world." he said seriously. "in time you will learn to read, multiply, and learn all the other school subjects as well as hidden ones. Magic can lurk in any being." he sauntered over toward the bags of blood.

"That's not necessary." I laughed nervously. "I haven't done anything like that in years..."

"Tell me, can you read?"

"Yes...well maybe. I've never needed to. It has never mattered since we were too busy running away from..." you. "...from monsters."

"It matters now." he smirked. "Don't you want to know? To possibly save your family?"

"...yes." I answered truthfully but I couldn't contain me fear. I had to do this to save them, and finally do something worthwhile for my race. But working with Orion seemed like a terrible idea and Sam would disapprove.

But to hell with the rules.

"Then I'll find you a tutor."

I can learn all I can and then one day I can become powerful enough to save us all.
