"Where are we?" Audrey asked as she trailed behind Damon and her sister. They were all walking down a grimy hallway in a beat down apartment building.

"Stefan's old apartment building," Damon snickered.

"Stefan could live anywhere in Chicago and he chose this?" Audrey asked in shock. This place was not what she would imagine Stefan residing in.

"There used to be an all girls high school around the corner, but it shut down for attendance issues. Weird," Damon explained, eyeing Elena as he talked. She rolled her eyes at him.

"If you're trying to scare me into giving up and going back, it's not going to work," She huffed. Damon stopped walking once they reached a door. He placed his finger to his lips indicating to the girls that they needed to be quiet. The atmosphere grew tense as he broke the lock on the door and busting through the door.

"Here we are. Stefan's second personality home," He announced sarcastically. The two girls followed him into the apartment taking a quick notice at the mildew smell. It was obvious that no one had lived here for a long time.

"He obviously hasn't been here," Elena pointed out.

"Tour is not over yet," Damon snapped. He walked toward a wall next to the refrigerator in which by that point Audrey zoned out looking around. She jumped when a door opened and she spun around to see a secret room the Damon had opened up. He pulled on the light cord illuminating the dark room. The Gilbert sisters looked inside to see shelves on the back wall filled with alcohol.

"Stefan hid his alcohol. What a monster," Elena said rolling her eyes.

"Look harder," Damon told her. She steps forward and sees a list of names on the wall. Audrey stepped beside her sister to see what she was looking at. The list started with Giuseppe Salvatore, Damon and Stefan's father.

"Stefan killed your dad?" Audrey asked turning around to look at Damon. He looked away and nodded.

"So, it's a list of names?" Elena asked, already knowing the answer.

"Mmhmm," Damon hummed.

"These are all his victims," She gasped. Audrey observed the wall once more and noticed how there were hundreds of names. Elena whipped around to look at Damon angrily. "What were you doing in the 1920s? Paving the way for women's liberation?"

"I was around. Chicago's a big city. Stefan was a cocky ripper douche. But I could avoid him and still indulge in a few Daisy Buchanans of my own," Damon smirked as Elena's face morphed into a look of disgust. He chuckled before turning around and walking towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Audrey asked.

"His old stomping ground," Damon answered.

"I'm coming with you," Elena said moving to go after him. He stopped her before she could reach the door.

"No. You and Audrey are going to stay here and whip up an actual plan. I'll come back when I find him," Before either of the girls could say anything else Damon left. Elena groaned angrily and walked into Stefan's bedroom while Audrey stayed back to look at the hidden room once more. She couldn't believe that Stefan Salvatore actually killed all of those people. After looking inside the room for another 10 minutes she finally joined her sister in Stefan's old room. Elena was laying on his bed reading his diary when Audrey joined her.

"So what are you going to say to him. You know if we find him?" Audrey asked her sister.

"I'm going to tell him to come home. That I love him so much and all I want is for him to come with us," Elena sighed. Audrey smiled sadly at her sister and leaned her head against her shoulder. "And if he says no, I'll stab him with a vervain dart," Both girls laughed.

It had been at least an hour since Damon left the two girls in the apartment. Elena was still reading Stefan's journal while Audrey slept peacefully next to her. Elena had just gotten to the part in Stefan's life when he finally pushed down his craving for human blood when she heard voices coming down the hall. It was Stefan and Klaus. Her heart began to drum wildly in her chest as she woke Audrey up and pulled her into the secret room. Together they held their breaths and tried keeping their heartbeat low. When the door was kicked open they jumped and held each other.

"What a charming little homestead. Do you feel that? Is anybody here?" Klaus asked. A smell so sweet drifted into his nose as he looked around.

"It's been vacant for decades. People must break in all the time. Why'd you bring me here?" Stefan asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Your friend, Liam Grant, the one who drank his wife's blood. I never could figure out why you wanted his name. And then you told me your little secret. It was all part of your special little ritual," Klaus chuckled. The girls hidden inside the secret room looked at the list of names on the door to see Liam Grant on there.

"To write it down," Stefan answered.

"And relive the kill over and over again," Klaus added stepping towards the door to the secret room. He opened it without looking inside. "You believe me now?" Stefan walked into the room slowly to look at the list. When he turned to the side he nearly jumped. Audrey was standing in front of Elena, trying to hide her but Stefan could still smell her. Audrey gave Stefan a look of hope but he only stared back with a blank expression. Klaus had stepped away by now, looking around the apartment. The scent he smelt earlier had gotten stronger.

"Look what I found," Stefan announced still looking at the girls. Audrey began to panic thinking he was going to sell them out. "1918. Single Malt," He grabbed the bottle and walked out of the room.

"My favorite. Let's go and find someone to pair it with," Klaus laughed. Stefan nodded before closing the door. Neither of the girls knew how long they stayed in the closet before coming out. They searched all over the apartment until they were certain it was safe. Elena called Damon immediately and told him to get there now. She explained what had just happened and he made it sound like he'd be right there. An hour later Audrey and Elena stood behind a wall with vervain darts in their hands. They heard footsteps approaching and when someone entered the apartment they went to attack. When they saw it was only Damon they stopped and sighed with relief.

"Finally! I called you an hour ago!" Elena shouted. Damon ignored her and tossed her a bag.

"Make yourselves presentable. I know where Stefan's going to be tonight," Damon replied before taking a seat on an empty chair.

"I told you that I was practically discovered-that we were practically discovered by Klaus and you're worried about what we're wearing?!" Elena yelled in disbelief.

"I had an hour to realize what a bad idea it was to leave you two here alone, process it, and, move on. Are you guys okay?" He asked looking between the two girls.

"Yeah," They answered together.

"Okay, good. Get dressed. You both are all road-trippy and gross," He laughed.

"So you know where he's going to be?" Audrey asked as she pulled out her outfit from the bag.

"Yes, with Klaus. So I'll distract Klaus while you two deal with Stefan," Damon answered. Audrey glanced at her sister before narrowing her eyes at Damon.

"No. This is how it's going to go down tonight. I go with you to distract Klaus while Elena deals with Stefan," Audrey stated in a demanding way. "Don't argue with me either Damon. Klaus won't be as hostile if I'm with you,"

"What do you mean?" Damon asked.

"He'll be shocked at first. It will give Elena more time with Stefan," Audrey explained. "Besides. We both know he'll enjoy my company way more than yours," She smirked and winked before leaving to get dressed.

"These shorts are way too short," Audrey complained as her and Damon walked towards a bar. Damon had picked out a white camisole, dark wash daisy dukes, and a leather jacket as Audrey's outfit. She looked beyond gorgeous but she also felt slightly slutty. She never wore clothes like this.

"You look hot babe. I know for a fact that every guy in the bar including Klaus won't be able to take their eyes off you," Damon snickered. "This was your plan remember?" She nodded and silently cursed herself for it. They stepped into the bar and spotted Stefan and Klaus instantly. Damon pushed Audrey behind him as he waited for Stefan to look their way. When he finally did Damon motioned for him to come over. Stefan excused himself from Klaus and made his way over to the door. Damon pushed Audrey behind a wall as he stepped outside. Stefan followed him without even noticing Audrey. The young human girl gathered her courage before walking towards the hybrid. She took Stefan's place beside Klaus and ordered a drink. Klaus smirked as he turned towards the girl. The smell from earlier hit his nose and he finally understood why. It was her.

"As much as I hate being tracked I'm glad it's by someone as pretty as you," He flirted leaning close to her. It was that moment that Audrey knew this was a mistake. A hidden pull made her lean towards Klaus as well. There was an unspoken attraction between them that she was now noticing. She felt it when she first met him months earlier, but now it was stronger.

"Who says I'm tracking you Klaus?" She said clearing her throat. She picked up her drink and took a long swig. "I'm just a girl in a bar,"

"And I'm just a guy in a bar," He smiled taking a drink as well. She smiled back but hid it when she saw he was staring at her.

"No, you're just an immortal hybrid in a bar," She laughed trying to ease the tension. Klaus smirked at the girl. He knew if she was here than so was the other Salvatore brother. As if Damon had read his mind he appeared beside Audrey.

"Last call! Drink em up!" The bartender shouted. Audrey downed her drink before ordering another one.

"I see they've opened the doors to the riff-raff now," Klaus stated as he drank the rest of his drink.

"Oh honey, I've been called worse," Damon chuckled.

"You don't give up, do you?" Klaus asked already knowing the answer. Damon had become a gnat to him lately. An annoying gnat that never knew when to quit.

"Give me my brother back and you'll never have to see me again. Either of us actually," Damon replied motioning to Audrey. Klaus eyed the human girl who was busy drowning in her drink and a thought popped into his head. His arm came around her shoulders as he pulled her to him.

"Well, I am torn. You see, I promised Stefan I wouldn't let you die, but how many freebies did I really sign up for? And clearly you want to die, otherwise you wouldn't be here. As for Audrey, I actually like her company," Klaus snickered pulling Audrey closer to him. He inhaled her delectable scent once more before standing up and walking towards Damon.

"What can I say? I'm a thrill-seeker," Damon remarked. Before either of them could blink, Klaus had Damon by the throat. Audrey stood up quickly but the liquor was getting to her now. She had to hold her head to keep from puking. Klaus lifted Damon off the ground effortlessly.

"Oh dear, what was that? I'm boozy, so you'll have to forgive me if I miss your heart the first few tries," He chuckled sarcastically. Klaus grabbed a toothpick and stabbed Damon's stomach. "Oh! No, that's not it. Hmm," As Klaus was raising his arm back to stab Damon again Audrey grabbed his hand.

"Klaus! Please don't do this!" She was panicking now. The adrenaline was pushing aside the liquor. "You don't have to do this, so please don't," Klaus looked into her pleading brown eyes and for a second he wanted to stop for her. For one single moment he thought he felt his dead heart jumping. The feelings subsided quickly when he realized what he was doing. He removed his hand from her grip and turned back to Damon. He stabbed the toothpick into his chest, but missed his heart.

"Oooh, almost," He taunted. Audrey was crying now. She knew that he'd kill Damon and there was nothing she could do about it.

"You want a partner in crime? Forget Stefan. I'm so much more fun," Damon struggled out. Klaus rolled his eyes and threw him backwards. Damon crashed into a table and landed on the ground. Klaus walked over to him, ripped a piece of the table off and crouched over Damon.

"You won't be any fun after you're dead," Klaus growled. He held Damon down with one hand and raised the stake in the other. Audrey looked at the bartender who was glaring at the men. She raised her hand at them, setting the stake on fire. Klaus looked up at the witch and raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Not in my bar," She spat out. "Take it outside," Klaus looked back down at Damon and snarled.

"You don't have to negotiate your brother's freedom. When I'm done with him, he won't want to go back," Klaus growled, finally letting go of Damon. Audrey rushed to be at his side but Klaus stopped her just before she reached him. "Having this gorgeous girl here with us has sparked an idea you know," Klaus looked at Audrey and smiled softly at her. "Besides, Stefan and I could use a female around. All that male testosterone is suffocating,"

"What are you saying?" Damon asked.

"I'm saying, if you keep insisting on tracking Stefan and I there will be consequences," Klaus growled. "The first one being having the lovely Miss Gilbert join us on the rest of our hunt," Audrey's eyes widened and she looked at Damon.

"Damon," She said trying to walk towards him. "Klaus don't do this-DAMON!" Klaus picked the girl up and hauled her over his shoulder. "DAMON! DAMON!" Damon couldn't move, he couldn't do anything but watch as the hybrid asshole carried his innocent little bird away from him.
