《The Lost Princess (Peter Pan OUAT Fanfic)》'Chapter 6 - Changing

I awoke to the sound of children laughing, well actually crying. That happened pretty much every single morning.
I got up and opened my lock box.
Panicking, I looked through it hastily as I searched for the picture of Salina and me.
Finally, I sighed in relief when I saw it and grabbed it.
She was so, different. Not like any other girl I'd met.
While I was still smiling at the picture I remembered what Felix told me.
I need to be more harsh. I can't let my guard down.
After what seemed like forever the crying stopped and I stepped outside.
There was Salina at the fire making something.
I really didn't want to do this, but I had too.
I stomped over to her and demanded,"What do you think you're doing?"
She looked up at me with a confused look and answered, "I'm making breakfast?"
"Dang, that's sweet." I thought.
Although instead I shouted, "I don't think I told you to do that, did I?"
Salina looked startled and stated, "I just thought it would be nice."
"Well this is my place and these are my rules!"
Her expression changed from startled to angered and she stood up in order to appear more fierce. Although we both knew I was a good foot taller than her.
"Look, I don't know what's gotten into you, but I'm just being friendly and your not helping." She said through gritted teeth.
I grabbed her arm and tugged her closer to me.
I looked her in the eye as she scowled at me.
"Do you think you know me!" I asked.
She just stared at me with fire in her eyes.
"I'm not what you think! You've never been in pain like I have!" I shouted.

She continued to stare until she finally whispered, "You think you know pain? Well then YOU, Pan, don't know ME."
"When are you gonna wake up and realize this isn't a dream." I whispered back getting closer to her face.
She looked at me with watering eyes and breathed, "I. Can't."
We were centimeters apart from each other at this point.
I slipped my hands around her waist and she leaned in even closer.
I continued looking her in the eyes. Her expression was unreadable.
That's when I realized what I was doing.
I pulled away and looked around at the huts.
Felix was peering outside looking at me and I knew he saw everything.
I looked back at Salina who was staring at me in total shock. It might just be me, but I feel like I saw a flash of disappointment in her eyes.
"Look Salina, that was-" I stared to say when she cut me off.
"I get it Pan. You didn't know what took over you. It didn't mean anything. I've heard it before so save it." She said with a tinge of anger.
"What do you mean? Why are you mad?"
"This crap has happened to me before and I'd appreciate it if you didn't play with my feelings like Aaron." She answered.
"Aaron?" I thought, but didn't say aloud.
It seemed like a touchy subject.
"I'm sorry." I apologized.
"Wow that must be the first time you've ever apologized to someone!" She exclaimed sarcastically.
My cheeks lit up in embarrassment as I said, "Well actually.."
She looked like she couldn't belive me and shouted, "Oh my god, It actually is!"
I was speechless and she turned back to making breakfast shaking her head.
I teleported into Felix's room and he looked up at me.

"What is wrong with you?" He asked in disbelief.
"I don't know!" I practically screamed.
"It's that girl! You need to get rid of her!" He announced.
I stared at him, shocked.
"No way! Nothing in this world could make me give her up!"
Not being able to look at him, I turned around and put my hands behind my head.
He sighed and said, "Look, this is different. You're going too easy on her. You're not the normal, smug, leader that we all know and love. You're a softie!"
I took a deep breath, gritted my teeth, turned around, and shouted, "Well maybe I'm changing Felix! Maybe it's not a bad thing!"
He said nothing just studied me for a moment and walked outside.
I followed him and saw that all of the boys were outside.
"Lost boys!" I announced.
They all turned towards me with little wooden plates piled with eggs and toasted bread.
"It's time I change!"
They stood silent with confused looks on their faces.
I continued to shout, "I'm not the person I was! I've changed! From now on I'm going to care more about others!"
I looked at Oliver, "I'll be less scary!"
I looked at Jack and Hunter, "I'll be happier!"
I looked at Connor, "I'll be smarter!"
I looked at Colt and Drake, "I'll be more loving!"
I looked at Brayden and Mitchell, "I'll be sillier!"
I looked at Ben, "I'll be more exciting!"
I looked at Felix, "I'm NOT going to be the same I was!"
Finally I looked at Salina and said, "And maybe, just maybe, I'll become capable of love."
She looked away, still angry.
"Thank you."
I left the camp and decided that I needed to take a walk.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
