The sound of the passing period bell rings and practically jump out of my desk. Why you ask?

Dance.

Dance is my passion. Dance and singing of course. Every day I look forward to dance but today I am especially excited because it's my best friend's birthday.

Wow. I sound like a little girl.

Anyways, the day seems pretty well and to be honest, I am way to excited for after school. I'm going over to Skye's house for dinner and movies and I'll probably just spend the night. I find myself spending most nights at either her house or Fia's ever since I came out to my parents. I'm not going to dive to much into the details but long story short my parents are super Christian and don't believe that guys can like guys romantically.

But Skye's parents are super cool with me sleeping over at her house. They are more my family than my real parents are.

Anyways, I go through my usual routine of getting shoved into lockers by homophobes and getting awed at by girls who don't understand that I'm not into them. I'm just turning the corner that leads to my second period class when a sound like the earth cracking, rings in the air. I duck thinking the sky is falling or something. Screams suffocate the air like an amplifier does at at a concert.

I quickly turn around to see a kid no older than me, pointing a gun at someone's chest.

Oh. My. God.

I just stand there like an idiot while the boy uses his skinny finger to pull the trigger.

BANG!

The kid who was face to face with the barrel of the gun falls to the ground with a crash. Blood flies everywhere; it paints the once white walls a bright red and the brown tile a dark maroon.

Four more shots ring out; three of them hit warm bodies. This snaps me out of my state of shock and I bolt out of the shooters path and hide in between a janitors cart and the stairwell. The screaming dies down as people enter classrooms and bathrooms.

I try to stay mute but my rapid breathing betrays me. I see the scrawny boy who just shot and maybe killed four people stride towards me towards me.

I slam my eyes shut. If I am going to die I don't want the last thing that I see to be the cold barrel of that fateful gun.

Step. Step. Step.

BANG!
