"Are you crazy!?" I yell . "This whole place is covered with monsters and you're ready to go out in the open like we aren't gonna die!"
"We'll need a plan first . We can't just go out there with our things . We'll be eaten if we do . So Carl Show Meghan to your room . And we'll think of a plan ." Lori said calmly .
I led her to my room like mom had told me to . It was weird to think we'll be leaving this all behind soon . Everything . My childhood, my friends, my....dad..... My thoughts were interrupted by Meghan's voice .
"Are you scared ?" She says quietly as she sits on my bed .
I have to make her believe it'll be okay . I'm scared to death but I lie . "No . I know we will be safe with mom and Shane ." I tell her trying not to make it obvious .
"I guess you're right, But I'm still frightened by these things running around... They got my parents... I just...I don't know . What if there was a way for them to get better ? What if shooting them means they're gone forever ?" She says all this with such sadness .
"Those things were not your parents . Trust me . If there was a way to bring them back maybe I wouldn't have done it . But they were gonna kill you . Maybe they will have a cure one day . But your parents were gone . They don't have any worries anymore . They're happy ." I tell her .
"Okay ." This is all she says before she gets up and leaves the room .
"Carl!" My mom yells .
I go out to see what she wants . She and Shane are sitting on the couch when they look at me .
"Carl, We have to go now . Gather what you can fit into the car and let's go . " My mom tells me .
*****
"Meghan, Carl! It's time to go!" Shane calls .
"Coming!" We say .
We put all of our things into the car . Of course mom grabs photo albums! Haha! It's the only thing that we have from our old lives . I get into the back seat next to Meghan and Shane starts the car . Goodbye house, goodbye childhood,goodbye....dad....and goodbye sanity .
