I scrunch up my nose with the fear that Mikasa is about to punch me in the face. Instead, all I receive is a cold laugh and a gentle hand placed on my left shoulder.

"(Y/N), I knew it," She says cooly, smirking.

"I'm sorry," I stutter, looking up into her eyes.

"Are you crying? Am I that scary? Oh, (Y/N), I just want Eren to be happy. I love him, and you're one of my best friends..."

"But...you and Eren are made for each other! Your love is unbreakable!" I mutter, tears falling into my lap.

"That is true. But I love Eren differently than you do, he's like my brother, and I have to protect him,"

"So...you're okay with me liking him?" Tears stop falling from my face.

"Of course, I wanted to let you know that," Mikasa smiles warmly, standing up.

"Mikasa please don't tell him...I don't want him to find out I have a crush on him! Our relationship is awkward enough..."

"I promise," She winks, taking her leave and shutting the wooden door.

I sit up in bed for a good half an hour with thoughts buzzing in my head. Mikasa is okay with me liking Eren? Does she know something that I don't?

I get out my other Scout cape and wrap it over my pyjamas, opening my bedroom door and walking out.

On my way to the door I pass Reiner and Bertholdt's bedroom, and hear their conversation.

"So, Bertholdt, who are you going to ask?" I can hear Reiner on the other side.

"I'm quite unsure...maybe we should just go together?" Bertholdt suggests.

"Yeah, but who are you going to dance with? I'm thinking of asking Christa,"

"That's surprising," I hear Bertholdt mutter sarcastically.

I then hear Reiner chuckle, "You could ask (Y/N)," My body freezes over. I should stop eavesdropping, but I have to hear what Bertholdt will reply with. I always thought he liked Annie, but she's not even in the Scouting Regimen...

"Why would I ask her? You know I like Annie, and well...Reiner answer me!" I can hear Reiner burst into laughter at the mention of my name, and the words 'Why would I ask her?' sting and burn my broken chest. Am I a joke? Am I so unlikeable the thought of going out with me is a JOKE?

Highly offended, I continue my journey outside the castle and down to the lake. It's quiet down there, and a lot of members of the Scouts like to have some down time...but probably not during the night. I pass the wet grounds from the rain, and a cool night air gently lifts my cape and blows through my (H/C) hair. I pass the forest and stumble down to the pond to find a lonely figure, sitting down quietly sobbing.

I walk down and stand next to them, and notice that they unlike me are still in uniform. Their sobbing is gentle and sad, and their tears drip into the lake and blend in with the cold water. They then look up at me, and to my surprise it is someone I would never have guessed.
