I heard the door close and knew she was gone. I sighed and got up. When I got to the living room, I saw her pink key on the table. It really was over. I don't know why I had to choose the right thing, but I did. I had to break up with her. It kills me to know that no matter what I do, she kept choosing someone over me. Maybe she didn't do it intentionally, but she did. I don't like being second to the person that I put first every time. I went to bed, and slept for what felt like 10 minutes, but was really 7 hours. I looked at the clock, and didn't feel like getting up or doing anything. I didn't have work until tomorrow, so I went back to sleep. Hopefully I won't be as sad when I get up the next time.

After wallowing in self pity for the past day and two nights, it was time to get up and go to work. Work was the last place I want to be right now. Bill will be there, and I can't stand to see the hurt look on his face when he sees me. Mr. Wright will be there, and he'll be happy with his model. Worst of all, Trinity will be there. Trinity is my best friend ever. I love her so much, and the thought of her being mad at me kills me. She is basically my sister, and she's always my support system. Without her, I really do have no one. Bill and Mr. Wright could never talk to me again and I'd live, but with no Trinity, I don't really have anything. I sat at my desk, doing my work and moping, when lunch break came. I would normally eat with Trinity and Bill, but anyone can see why that would be a bad idea. I sat still working, because to tell the truth, I wasn't even hungry. Mr. Wright came out of his office and stopped when he saw me.

"Olivia, everyone else is at lunch. Why aren't you?"

"I'm not hungry."

"At least sit with Bill and Trinity and take a break from work."

"I don't think so. I'm okay with working. There's a lot of stuff to do."

"This is our slow season. What's wrong?"

"If you must know, Bill dumped me and Trinity is pretty mad at me right now."

"Oh Olivia, I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault. It's all my own."

"Nope. I refuse to believe you could've done something so horrible that they both don't want to see you."

"Well thank you."

"I was just going out to lunch with Lily. How would you like to join us?"

"I don't necessarily want to third wheel. I'm fine by myself."

"No. You're coming with us."

"Are you sure she wouldn't mind? You're a really busy guy, so I'm sure any time you have together she wants to take advantage of."

"Well too bad. You're coming and that's it."

"I hope you don't negotiate all your deals like that."

We laughed and headed down to the lobby where Lily was waiting. Trinity was sitting with Bill eating lunch. When they saw me and Mr. Wright, Bill looked down and Trinity glared. I looked at my feet and shuffled closer to Mr. Wright and Lily. We went to a restaurant nearby, and sat down. Lunch with Bill and Trinity would be horrible, but I don't know how well this is gonna go either. Lily looked across the table and smiled at me. I smiled back, and looked at the menu.

"So Olivia, how is working for Aiden? I hope he's not too much of a hard ass."

"Oh no. Mr. Wright is a very nice boss. I mean he invited me to lunch with you guys. I really hope you don't mind."

"Not at all. He's told me a lot about you. Apparently you're one of the best employees he has."

"I would hardly say that. I do my job and that's it really. Of course that's what works is, I just wish I would get along better with the rest of the staff."

"They don't like you?"

I was about to answer, but Mr. Wright interjected.

"No. The girls are all jealous of Olivia, and the men were very unhappy because she wasn't single or even interested for that matter."

"Oh. Well then it's their own problem, dear. Don't worry about what they think, they probably hardly think at all."

"Thank you. That's very nice of you."

"So from that I take it you have a boyfriend?"

I looked up from my fidgety hands to see Mr. Wright put his hand on her arm and shake his head no. Lily felt so bad, but she didn't know.

"Oh dear! I'm so sorry. I just thought since Aiden said you weren't single then you must have a boyfriend. If you're interested in women, that's wonderful too. I love everyone the same."

Mr. Wright almost spit out his water from laughing so hard. Lily was confused, and I had the biggest grin on my face. I never thought that out of all people, Lily would make me smile again, but hey.

"No. I definitely am interested in men. I had a boyfriend until Saturday night."

"Oh! Gosh I just keep putting my foot in my mouth today huh? I'm so sorry. I'm just gonna stop talking."

"No. It's fine. It's actually very endearing. I was pretty sad before we came here, but you certainly turned that around."

"A break up can be tough, but at least you're getting out. I'll tell you what, Saturday I have a photoshoot and I was thinking you could stop by and we could go shopping, get our nails done and have a girls day. As great as Aiden is, he's not all that feminine. I don't have many friends either."

"I don't know. Wouldn't you wanna spend that time with Mr. Wright?"

"No. He's busy Saturday. He has this huge business weekend so I'll be pretty lonely."

"I know how sucky loneliness can be. I'd love that."

"Wonderful! Here's my number. I'll text you the time and address."

Mr. Wright just sat there and I thought he might be uncomfortable with us hanging out, but he just smiled. After lunch and listening to Lily's hysterical stories, it was time to go back to the office. Lily hugged me goodbye and went over to Mr. Wright. I headed back to my desk and started working. I saw Bill walk back to his office. He looked at me, and immediately turned away. I sighed and looked to floor. Mr. Wright came back up, and saw me moping. He called me into his office, so I went.

"Olivia, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Thank you for inviting me to lunch. It was very nice of you, and I really like Lily. She's very sweet. I think you guys make a great couple."

"Thank you. I don't think you're okay. There's nothing to do around here, so why don't you just go home?"

"No way. My hours are my hours. There's still plenty of work to do."

"Like what?"

"If someone calls you, I have t answer it. You get a lot of phone calls."

"I think I'm perfectly capable of answering my own phone. Go home."

"But answering your phone is my job. Working is the only thing I have. Without work I'm just gonna lay in bed and cry."

"Well maybe that's what you need to do. Go home, and sleep. When you wake up, maybe try calling Trinity and fixing things. You're really depressing when you're sad."

"Thanks, Mr. Wright. You're not as much of a hard ass as I thought."

"Oh haha. If you're still sad by tomorrow morning, don't bother coming in."

"Yes, sir."
