《Mrs. All-American》Chapter 3: The Girl With the Questions

Luke invited us back to his house on the last day of hospital. Katie wasn’t sure if it was a good idea at first, but then he told us that he had all three Back to the Future movies on DVD, and she’s never been able to resist ole Michael J. Fox.
When we arrived at the house, I was amazed by its blueness (the house was blue). In fact, Luke told us the reason for its immense blueness is because one day two summers ago, a piece of sky fell onto the previously beige house and turned the entire thing bright blue. It all happened so quickly that Calum swore the whole thing was in the span of five seconds. And that’s how they got the name “5 Seconds of Summer.”
“That’s…beautiful,” I whispered at the close of the anecdote, holding back tears in my luscious green eyes that looked like a forest of lively deciduous trees.
“Like you,” he said. I blushed, until I realized he was talking to the house.
Luke pressed his face to the door for the sensors to scan until it opened in exactly five seconds (of summer…see what I did there?). Waiting inside were three males that I recognized instantly: Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, and Ashton Irwin.
“Hi,” Calum said. “I’m—”
“Oh, I know who you are,” I responded. “But the real question is, do you know who I am?”
“Ashley Tisdale?” he asked. We both chortled.
I noticed that Ashton was staring at me. “Are you staring at me?” I asked, even though I knew he was staring at me so the answer in fact would have to have been yes.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “You’re just very pretty.”
I told my blush to leave, so it ran away in terror. “Are you talking to the house?” I asked.

He smirked a smirky smirk. “Sure. Let’s go with that.”
Suddenly, a voice rang through the blue household. (I don’t mean for “blue” to be a metaphor for how the people in the house were feeling. If you recall, the color of the house is blue, but if you did in fact ask me to describe the color of the house’s aura I’d imagine it a lively yellow.) Anyway, yeah, there was a voice coming from down the hall.
“Where am I?” it screamed. The voice definitely belonged to a girl, unless there was a boy less than thirteen that they here hiding somewhere. The girl with the voice stomped into the room we were in, and I can assure you that she was, in fact, a female.
“You’re in our house!” Michael said. Wow, he sounded just like he did in his interviews, live performances, music videos, and radio shows.
“Why?” she demanded demandingly in a demanding-like tone of voice. “And who are you?”
“We’re 5 Seconds of Summer!” Calum introduced. The four of them stood in a line and gave her jazz hands.
“That’s wonderful, but why am I in your house?”
“You were lying unconscious right outside,” Ashton explained. “So we decided to take you in.”
Her eyes went wide. “No, no, no, no! You can’t just do that. You can’t just pluck me off the ground—wait, why was I unconscious?”
“We don’t know!” Michael said with much excitement.
The girl stared at them. “Are you British, or something?”
They all simultaneously let out three large chuckles. “No, you silly goose,” Luke humored while experiencing humor. “We’re Australian. We’re in Australia.”
“WHAT?” she shrieked. “But…but I live in Brooklyn!”
“Brooklyn? The one in the States?” Michael asked. “Man, you traveled far just to pass out.”

Her jaw was twitching. It was kinda funny to watch. “I didn’t come to Australia! How did you find me? Why did you take me back to your house?”
“What’s your name?” I asked her.
“Faith.”
“Doubt it,” Luke joked, giving Ashton a high-five to the face.
Faith’s eyes landed on each of us. “You know what? Y’all are insane. I’m going to find my way home.” She reached for the door handle, but her hand passed through it. “What the—?”
“It only appears if one of us scans our faces,” Ash explained.
“Scans your—you know what? Whatever. You wanna hold me hostage here? Just me and two other girls with four fine guys? I won’t object. Just try not to be too weird around me.”
“You got yourself a dealio!” Luke said, doing jazz hands by himself. “So what do you guys say we check out this awesome place that Kayla and Katie and I found? We call it: Hospital.”
Katie and I cheered like cheer-followers (on a personality quiz Katie and I took last month, it said we were both followers, not leaders, and I don’t want to give my adoring fans the wrong idea).
Faith backed up. “They’ve lost their minds. They’ve all…”
But unfortunately for Faith the scene changed before she could finish her sentence.

Child of the Ancients: An Apocalypse LitRPG
It all started in the middle of Dante's nap. He wanted to sleep his life away, but the system denied his request. Instead, it began to transform the Earth, integrating it into the multiverse by granting everyone stats and skills. He was talented, or so the system thought. And that meant he needed to be challenged. After being sent into a deadly cavern, Dante strives for the future he's always desired. But when he learns about the secrets hidden within him, he's shaken to his very core. He wishes for the nightmare to end until something goes wrong. [The world will end in one year.] Instead of everyone receiving a relatively gentle tutorial, the people of Earth are deemed redundant. Dante makes it his goal to save as many people as he can before the world ends, but with billions of lives at stake, he might have to turn into a monster before he can become a hero. Planned updates (2500+ words): M/W/F. 12pm AEST/ 9am EST. M-F during Writeathon. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: All system apocalypse novels seem to jump straight over the apocalypse itself, which I find very sad. I don't want this to turn into a typical fantasy novel in about ten chapters. Instead, I hope to explore the destruction of society and how things would look if superpowers suddenly appeared in the real world. Before the real apocalypse happens, of course. There will be base building, and likely romance once things settle down. Also dragons, because they are awesome :)
