《STRAWBERRY WINE -corpse husband-》FACETIME BUT SLEEPY (5)
Madison had made it back to her apartment only 20 minutes before she was supposed to start her stream. She got the final details from Felix before starting to set up her desk, iced coffee and a smoothie helping her stay awake.
The night before, at Rae's, had taken a turn. Maddie really didn't plan on drinking, but after talking to Rae for hours about Corpse and what she felt, she needed wine. Then she needed liquor. And somehow she was two glasses of wine, and six shots deep, posting delusional snapchat videos. Thankfully, she hadn't said anything too embarrassing but the events of the night before did cause quite a stir on social media. She had woken up to text messages from friends, asking if she was okay, and twitter notifications shaming her for being such a bad influence on a young generation. She considered saying something in response, but decided against it.
She was 22 and owed nothing to anyone. She had a fun night with friends and posted about it. It wasn't a big deal.
She didn't understand why she was always so involved in so many scandals, but she knew she didn't like it. Online, she could play it off like it just wasn't worth her time, but on the inside she was incredibly worried that eventually she would be canceled and the entire internet would hate her.
She tried to ignore those feelings though, trying to stay positive as she posted the obligatory post to her instagram story and started the stream.
"Good morning, everyone! I have a few minutes before I have to join the call with everyone so I thought I could just hang out with you guys for a few..."
"The fact that she thinks any of us are here to see anyone but Corpse is hilarious."

She usually tried not to read negative messages, but the message was surrounded by emojis, and hard not to see. She took a deep breath and smiled lightly, trying to remind herself that not everyone thought that way. It was fine.
"So today we're playing with lots of new people. Actually I don't think I know anyone except for Rae, Toast, and Corpse... Yeah so looks like we have Rae, Corpse, Jacksepticeye, Pewdiepie, Courage, Dave, GreaseBall, Toast, and me! I think we're one short, but it's okay."
She typed in the game code, making sure to not accidentally leak it, and un-deafened discord. "Hello!"
"AHHH! The woman of the hour! THE Madison Blair," Felix used an over dramatic announcer voice, making everyone laugh. She laughed softly, realizing quickly, based on all the voices, she had no idea who these people were.
"I don't think I know everyone.. I'm Madison. Uh..."
After learning everyone's names, they discussed how proximity chat worked for the newer people, and they started the game. Madison wasn't the imposter this round, and decided to hang around with Corpse and Rae.
"Hey friends!" Rae announced.
"Rae, how was your night last night?" Madison could hear Corpse's smile behind his words, laughing quietly. "Did you...uh... did you have fun?"
Rae and Madison laughed, "yeah, yeah, we had fun!"
"Alright.. alright. Well, I guess we should do our tasks now." Corpse ran from them, out of admin, leaving Rae and Madison alone.
"Rae," Madison whispered, "are you an imposter?"
"No..." she whispers back, right as her tongue goes through Madison's eye.

"Hey."
"How was your day? Did you stream?"
"I see..."
"I had fun! We didn't plan on drinking but-"
"... I called you?"
"..."
"Did I embarrass myself?"
"Not much, clearly."
Madison could tell he was trying to divert attention now, and for her own sake, she was partially grateful, however, she was also incredibly curious. She let it go for now, deciding it wasn't worth it to cause an issue. If it was actually important, he would've told her.
Right?
They talked for awhile, then, the black screen eventually turning into a ceiling fan, just like the call before. Madison was incredibly tired and hungry, but too unmotivated to move. They had streamed for nearly six hours, rotating thorough many different friend groups before they called it quits, and now, after talking to Corpse for so long, it was nearly two in the morning.
"Corpse, I'm starving."
"No, I suppose not."
She didn't make any plans to move, sitting in silence now with him. She could see the lighting change frequently, assuming that she was in Corpse's filming room, and he was on his computer.
"Where am I?"
"Oh my gosh, duh! I mean, where is your phone?
Like what room am I looking at."
"Can I see your apartment?"
She was getting quite delirious now, only awake with the intention of speaking to Corpse. She wouldn't have asked at all if she was completely aware of what she was saying, and he knew that.
She was cozy in bed, phone propped against a pillow so he could still see her, but she was snuggled deep in the comforter, blanket pulled up to her chin.
Hereyes were fluttering shut every few moments. She hummed out a response, not awake enough to speak.

Cultivating Earth [Hiatus]
[This fiction is on indefinite hiatus. I'm currently acting as a 24-hour caregiver for my step-father who had a massive heart attack. I apologize for disappearing so quickly, but sometimes that's just life. I'll return as soon as possible. Sorry everyone!] Zhao Gang, after hundreds of thousands of years cultivating, has finally reached the penultimate threshold. He is ready to ascend to the level of True Immortal. Driven by the need for a place his enemies won't find him, Zhao Gang puts together an audacious plan. He has developed a revolutionary new formation which will allow him to ascend while on even the lowest planes. To avoid drawing attention, he has to choose a plane that is relatively desolate, however. He chooses Earth. Fast forward three thousand years. Zhao Gang discovers what his work has wrought - a cultivation-free culture that has delved the deep mysteries of creation - he can't help but think how this tiny little planet devoid of natural energy could affect the course of all creation. There's only one problem. For that to happen, he has to succeed in cultivating Earth. Notes: Chinese names should be ignored in the social context - they don't mean anything. Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
