imessage
so i guess you never got my message,
which explains why you never responded....
i just wanted to apologize for the first time we met,
when i didn't say anything about your voice. i just
didn't want to draw attention to something that i
assumed bothered you. i'm sorry if i offended you.
oh it's madison by the way
yeah, my dm doesn't work. idk why.
it's really no big deal. honestly, they only
say anything about it for the meme. i wasn't
offended. you wouldn't believe how many
compilations there are of new streamers
responding to my voice. that's why they made a big
deal about it.
Madison hesitated to say anything more. Was she supposed to continue to carry on a conversation with him? He didn't seem the type to want to talk to her.
She decided to leave it at that, but her brain was begging for more from him. Over the past few weeks of them playing together, Madison had developed a bit of an obsession and now that he would actually talk to her, she had so many questions.
She had watched all of his old videos, and his old livestreams. She knew it was crazy but his voice soothed her when she was anxious, so she might as well enjoy it while she can, right? She would never bring up anything about it to him; she planned to wait until he was comfortable to tell her about his life, if he told her at all.
She ignored her impulses to text him again, though, and got ready to go to Rae's instead. They had plans of a movie night and a sleepover, but both of them needed pictures for Instagram as well, so she had to get somewhat ready.
After her shower, she blowdried her hair straight and put on a little makeup. As she finished her mascara, she received a call.

"Hey?"
The screen in front of her was black, which she assumed would happen. For her own comfort, she continued to stare at the blackness, hoping that maybe one day he would comfortable enough to show her his face. Madison didn't get her hopes up about that.
"Corpse? Did you mean to call?"
"
"Are you okay?"
She could hear in his breathing that he was having a panic attack. Madison was all too familiar with the feeling of intrusive thoughts. She was honored Corpse would call her at all, but didn't get too excited. She had been called by default. She set up her phone in front of her, trying to add some finishing touches to her makeup while talking.
"Today, I'm actually leaving
my house for the first time in a
long while... I've been avoiding my
friends and all.. It's just what I do
I guess. But I'm going to Rae's
later. Did you know Rae, Imane,
and Janet live together? I feel like
you would know that.... I'm taking
Instagram pictures while I'm there.
Hopefully they come out good, because
I'm tired of getting comments about how
much of a slut I am for embracing
my own cleavage-"
"No, I wouldn't say I am,
but if that's what the fans want,
it's what they get."
Madison wasn't the most confident with talking to someone for this long, and this one-sided. She wasn't very social, even if social media made people think otherwise. She tried to think of something else to say, but all of the things she wanted to talk about were questions, and Corpse already said he didn't want to talk.
The only thing she could do was test the waters. Maybe talking about his problems would help him come back to reality. She pulled out some black nail polish to paint her nails, trying to distract herself from overthinking this.

"Corpse?"
"Are you playing Among Us anytime soon?"
"Are you streaming it tomorrow?"
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to."
Madison tried hard not to get offended. She knew he was just frustrated; he wasn't talking about her to be offensive, he was providing perspective. The worst part was that he was right. No matter what he did, people were never going to understand him not wanting to show his face. They weren't going to stop sexualizing him, and they would always care more about the mystery over the music.
"Corpse... I wish I could say
something that would prove you
wrong. But you're right. And I'm
sorry."
"I can accept that it's not
my fault, and also be sorry that
you're going through it in the
first place."
They sat in silence for awhile. Eventually, Corpse's screen wasn't black anymore, instead showing a ceiling fan. Madison turned her head away, trying to be respectful just in case he accidentally came into the frame.
"Corpse. Your camera."
Madison ended up being late to Rae's house, trying to stay on the phone with Corpse as long as she could. She wanted to make sure he was okay. After being there before, just needing someone to talk to her and bring her back to reality, she gave Corpse all the time he could need.
They talked for three hours.

OUTLIERS
30 years ago brought the first superhumans, regular people given great power seemingly at random. 15 years ago brought the paranormals, stranger and often weaker in their abilities, but far more numerous. Today, the world holds its breath . . . Or at least, it should. Most people, though, are just trying to get on with their lives; some successfully, some less so. It's a sensible goal, but it can be hard when shadowy conspiracies and worldwide N.G.O.s are turning your city into a proxy battleground over world-shattering secrets. It’s bad enough when you’ve just woken up with superpowers and terrorists are holding your school hostage. It’s even worse if you’re an illegal vigilante stuck in the middle of the whole Charlie Foxtrot after a supervillain raid drops vital information in your lap. For Hannah Eiling-Kingsford and Flint Perez, life is about to get a lot harder to get on with. ----- Outliers is a superhero story. Okay, so not so much superhero as vaguely superhero-ish. It's about two teenagers dealing with, among other things, new powers, psycho exes, mysterious datapads and a giant, secret war between the foremost powers-that-be, over information that could forever change the world. Again. You know, normal teenage stuff. Outliers contains some foul language and mild sexual references. It is a complete story, and can also be read on its own website. If you enjoy the story, please consider writing a review, either here or on WebFictionGuide, or just drop a vote for it on Topwebfiction. Any and all support is appreciated, and comments, questions and critiques are all expected and encouraged.

Until, that all changes with one mistake. Once again, the world has been thrown into turmoil. Will Dean make it out alive? —— Warning this Web novel has minor usage of strong language and some strong depictions of gore. REAL
An ancient hunchback named Finnel is the principal of a school where students’ special abilities might be called magical, supernatural powers. Or, maybe those students’ heightened attributes are more like honed talents any ordinary person could discover and dedicate to developing. Either way, at Finnel's school, even the most otherworldly of traits always finds its source in something REAL . . . in actual human capacities, like intuition, empathy, awareness, strength... REAL is a series of ongoing tales, each centered around an individual student at Finnel's school. Framing slice-of-life authenticity with cool powers and uplifting humor, REAL maintains a light, fun tone while never shying away from digging down deep into weighty themes like identity, connection, and meaning.
