《Call Of Death》Chapter 6 : The Lady In Red

As soon as the three arrived at the place where someone screamed, they saw the body of a lady lying down on the floor while her terrified face was lying sideways. She's bathing in her own blood oozing from her neck. Detective Lee immediately went near to make a clearer view of the crime scene. The girl has a gunshot wound in the middle of her eyebrows and her neck was also slit open. Her eyes was still wide open. Her expression was really terrifying. Even some blood are coming out of her mouth and ears. Aside from her injury on her head and neck, causing her immediate death, no trace of anything can be seen.
There isn't a single trace that she fought back or if she even have the time to do so. There's no wound caused by struggling. The gunshot wound could have been shot from afar but the wound on her neck was clearly done face to face.
'How the hell can someone do this when there's tons of people in here?' Cameron thought with a serious face.
"Oh my God! Is she dead?" A girl wearing a glittery jacket and black leather skirt asked, covering her mouth.
"Her head was shot and her neck is slit open, who could live after such wound, lady?" A man sarcastically answered.
"Oh my God!" A girl covered her mouth, trembling.
Officer Devius Chad looked at the girl. She must be the one who shouted from earlier. She must also be the first one to see the corpse. Detective Lee knelt down and checked the pulse of the victim and it was gone. Of course, she's already dead after being shot but it's been a routine to check for the pulse. Detective Lee sighed and stood up. He looked around, looking for a possible space to where the culprit could be hiding but the place isn't that covered and not much spot can be a good hiding place.
The girl was killed by a bullet and a sharp object but no one heard a gunshot sound, the culprit must have put a silencer to reduce the sound of the gun as he shoot his target.
"But what about the wound on her neck?' Cameron held his chin. It must have been a sudden attack that the girl didn't have a time to react, that's why no one heard her asking for help. "Or, is it possible that she's already slit in the neck when she was shot?"

Officer Devius Chad went to the girl and helped her get away from the scene. Officer Isaac Chase helped in asking the guests to step away from the crime scene. Everyone was in shocked but most people still wanted to see the girl's corpse.
"Really, nosy." Devius thought.
"Is she really dead?" The girl asked again. Her body is shivering and tears are flowing down her face. She's really shocked.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine." Officer Chad could only give her a comforting smile.
Before the girl and Officer Chad can get far, Detective Lee stopped them. "Did you see what happened?" Detective Lee seriously asked, the girl was so shocked that she can't even say a word.
The detective studied her appearance. By looking at her height and face, she must be between fifteen to eighteen years old. She looked really scared and is impossible to answer if being asked.
"Senior Lee, Devius," Officer Chase approached them.
"Isaac, can you take care of her for me?" Officer Chad asked.
"Huh? Y-Yeah, sure." His friend nodded.
Officer Chad then walked towards the crowd who're busy peeking. "Stay away from the crime scene. Move your way. Move! Move!" He commanded them. "No one's allowed to leave the perimeter. Everyone is considered a prime suspect for this crime. You can call your lawyers but no one is leaving until we say so." He added as he carefully push the guests away.
Detective Lee stared at the victim's dead body, that's when he noticed that she's holding her phone. He quickly took his handkerchief out and picked up the phone. A number is still flashed on the screen but a second later, the call was cut.
"Who are you talking to before you were killed?" He quietly asked the corpse.
He covered the phone with the handkerchief as it can be used as an evidence in the case. He then took out his own phone and dialed his commanding officer's number. On the other hand, Officer Chad went to lock the door so no one could escape the place.
"Hello, Cameron? What's up?" She picked up after some time.
Detective Lee glanced at the body. "Chief Simon, someone died at the party. Can you go here and bring some of our colleagues to help me handle it?" He reported.
Chief Simon remained silent for a while before saying, "We're on our way there, keep an eye on everyone, bye."
The crowd started going crazy with what is happening. They're scared and alarmed but they also wanted to know about what happened. Curiosity and fear are mixed up. But most of them just wanted to leave the place because of the fear that someone might shoot them too.

"Everyone, calm down. Please cooperate with us." Officer Chase pleaded the crowd who won't stop gossiping and arguing.
"What? Are you going to lock us all here and get us killed too like that lady?" An arrogant looking man, the one who sarcastically spoke earlier, probably at his forties, angrily asked.
"Yeah! What if someone dies again because you're holding us here?" Another man in his thirties, seconded.
A lady also started crying. "Please let us out. I don't want to die here. I want to go home." She begged.
Officer Isaac Chase sighed. "No one is going to die, we are here to protect you." He assured.
"Protect us? A person already died and you're telling us now that you'll fucking protect us when you can't even sense that someone will die!?" A man wearing a pure black outfit angrily walked in front and confronted Officer Chase. "You're locking us up here to die!" He shouted.
"Sir, we are not going to let that happen. I just need you all to cooperate." Officer Chase calmly explained.
But the man seemed to not mind at all. "I don't care if you want to stay here and die, I'm leaving!" He turned his way to the door.
Officer Chase couldn't do anything but watch the man as he walk towards the door. He just looked at Officer Chad who's at the door and waiting for him to talk to the man. But looking at his determined expression, he surely won't listen to Officer Chad either.
"Move out of the way." The furious man commanded the officer.
"Sir, you need to calm down and cooperated with us." Officer Chad politely said.
The man just glared at him. "I'm getting out and there's nothing you can do."
"Sir, please." Officer Chad said again.
"I SAID...MOVE." He firmly said.
"If someone is really going to die next, that should have happened earlier after the first victim." Detective Lee interrupted.
The furious man turned to him. "What?"
"That means, she's the only target."
"How could you say?" The man asked.
Cameron sighed. "The culprit used a gun and probably something sharp to end the victim's life. If he wanted to hurt anyone except for that lady," he pointed at the corpse. "He would have shot everyone he can."
"I don't care, I'm still leaving this place and no one can stop me!" He said as he push Officer Devius Chad out of the way.
"Mister, is there a reason why you so badly wanted to leave?" Detective Lee calmly walk towards their direction.
"What?"
He can't stand seeing an arrogant person taking advantage of someone's kindness and patience. Yes, when they're in this field, they needed to be patient and professional but they are often taken advantage because of that. And with his presence, he won't let that happen—even if he's annoyed at the other party.
"Why are you such in a hurry to leave? Are you running away from something?" He crossed his arms and looked at the man with no expression.
The other furiously walked to his direction. "Are you accusing me? I am a well-known businessman and you're accusing me of killing someone?"
Detective Lee looked at him straight in the eye and said, "I didn't accuse you of anything but it seemed like you're already confessing. Are you guilty?" He smirked.
The truth is, Cameron knows he didn't do anything. He isn't the one who killed the victim but he just wanted to provoke the man so he won't leave.
"You, bastard!" The man said angrily and threatened to punch him.
Detective Lee smirked. "Go on, why didn't you go all the way?"
Officer Chad quickly went in between them. "If you guys want to fight, do it some other day. This is a crime scene and there are other things that we need to focus on. Sir, no one is leaving the place," he said to the man before turning to Detective Lee, "and you, act like a professional, please just, stay calm."
"Tss." Cameron hissed.
"Fine, I'm not leaving and I'm going to embarrassed you once I'm proven innocent." The man firmly said as he marched away angrly.
Detective Lee just shrugged his shoulder. After about twenty minutes, Chief Simon and the other detectives and police officers finally arrived at the scene and helped them control the situation. Most of them went to question and assist the guests before letting them to go home. Other officers went to search the area for any possible evidence and traces of the culprit. While Detective Lee, Officer Chase, Officer Chad and Chief Simon went to check on the body.

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
