《Call Of Death》Chapter 5 : A Misunderstanding
Advertisement
Both men stared knives and bullets at each other. If you know war, that's what they're doing but with their eyes. No one is coward enough to dare look away. It's as if two lions are standing face to face.
Gun still aimed at his forehead, Detective Lee asked the stranger. "What do you want?"
The stranger took out something from the pocket behind his pants. "Police Officer Devius Wayne Chad of Sienna Metropolitan Police Agency, you look suspicious and I don't trust your actions." He showed him his badge.
'What? This jerk is a police officer? He doesn't look one.'
Detective Lee furrowed after seeing that this playful jerk in front of him is also a police officer. From his first impression, he thought he's some kind of rich spoiled brat kid who spends their parents' money on not so important things like alcohol and other drugs. He doesn't look a tiny bit of a man in service.
Detective Lee then raised on of his eyebrows. "A police officer, indeed but if you hold your gun like that, it'll be easy to snatch it away from you." He gestured Officer Chad's hand.
"Tss! I don't—"
"Detective Cameron Caiseus Lee? Senior, is that you?" Officer Isaac Chase cut Officer Devius Chad's statement.
"Do you know him, Isaac?" Officer Chad shifted his gaze to his friend with confusion.
Officer Chase nodded. "Hell yeah! He's my senior, my inspiration."
"That's cringe but, is he really a detective?"
"Man, he isn't just a detective. He's the best."
"Hey, enough with the flattery. That's a simple yes or no question, my friend." Officer Chad cringed.
He looked at Detective Lee again, furrowing his eyebrows. He still doesn't want to believe because the man in front of him looks younger than his friend to be his senior. Detective Lee then sighed and took out his badge lazily, showing it to the Officer.
"Detective Cameron Caiseus Lee of Korean National Police Agency." He introduced himself.
"Well, that's in Korea but I serve at Doughan Detective Agency."
Officer Chad stared at Detective Lee for a moment before turning to look at his badge. He doesn't want to believe at first because he knew that this kind of things could be faked, even if his friend told him he's a senior but he lowered his gun. He sighed and looked at Detective Lee.

"Are you...really a detective?" Half of him is still hesitant.
Officer Chase held his friend's arm. "Devius Wayne, why are you asking him like that. I'm telling you, he's my senior. He's our senior."
Officer Chad looked at Officer Chase and sighed. "How can he be our senior, he looks so young. Also, he looked like a prince." He whispered.
Detective Lee sighed and put his badge back to his pocket. "If you don't believe me, call your superior and ask for my name."
"Why would I do that?" Devius asked.
"Why else? So you will believe that I am a detective and I'm here for a mission."
"Tss. I don't easily believe anyone, you know? Names can be taken from anyone. A detective's name can be faked too."
"What?"
"You don't look like one. You look expensive, more like a mafia son or some high end criminals." Officer Chad whispered but Detective Lee, being a high trained detective, still manage to hear it.
"Looks can be deceiving. You can't just base on looks in order to judge someone, especially of what they do." Cameron said.
"Tss. Now, you don't sound like a detective too. You look like a mafia son, you sound like a mafia son."
"Devius Wayne Chad! Are you drunk already or have you gone nuts?" Officer Chase whisper-shouted.
Cameron looked sharply at Officer Chad. "At least I don't look like a playful jerk like you."
"What did you say?" Devius glared at him.
"I don't want to argue with you anymore. I'm here for a mission, unlike you who's only here for fun."
"You—" Isaac Chase covered his mouth and faced Detective Lee.
"I apologise, senior. He's just like this because he's kind of drunk a lot. Please forgive him." Officer Chase apologized.
"Nevermind. Tell your friend to be cautious because there might be something odd about this party." After saying that, he casually walked back to the bar.
After that, Officer Chase faced Devius. "How come you don't know Detective Cameron Lee?" He asked his friend.
Devius just shrugged. "Is it necessary for me to know him? He's so arrogant. I don't like him." He said like a child.

"He's a good man, Devius." Officer Chase patted his friend's shoulder and sat down. "He's been in service for so long but he doesn't want to get promoted for some reason." He continued.
"Maybe he's just bad at his profession, that's why he never gets promoted." He sat down too.
Officer Chase shook his head. "He's the greatest detective I've ever met. The reason why I'm so inspired is him, he's a good person. He just don't act really friendly but trust me, he's a good guy." He assured.
'Good guy, my ass.' Devius pouted.
"I met him when I went to Korea to train. He is really admired there because he's a great guy. He just doesn't seem one but he is."
"Fine. Fine. If he's really admirable, then he is."
After hearing that, someone from not so far who has been watching them smirked. He stood at the darkest part of the place as he watched the two stayed silent for a while, looking at the sky and admiring the stars.
After sitting with Isaac Chase he did nothing but praised the guy he called arrogant, Devius begun wondering what kind of person Cameron Caiseus Lee really is because his friend doesn't praise anyone just like that. He also seemed to admire the guy so much that his eyes even twinkles while talking about how great a person he is.
'Was it really a misunderstanding? Did I misunderstand the guy?' He thought.
They stayed like that for a while. He doesn't feel good about Cameron Lee but he also doesn't feel bad about him. He's a kind of person that is mysterious and will make anyone confused just by looking at him. He doesn't look like a bad guy but he surely can't be considered looking as a good guy. It's not good to judge a book by its cover, but when he look at Cameron Lee he can't do anything but wonder, what kind of person he is?
"Do you want to go home now, Devius?" After some time, Officer Chase asked.
Officer Chad shook his head. "Let's stay for a while. I'm so sick at our headquarters' smell." He joked.
"Then, let's get back in and enjoy the rest of the night." Isaac stood up and offered his hand to Officer Chad.
"You look like you're talking to your date." Officer Chad chuckled.
"Well, didn't you say that you're waiting for your date who's a man?"
They both laughed. Officer Chad accepted his friend's hand and stood up.
"Let's go then, my date." He joked.
Both men went back inside the bar and started partying again. When Detective Lee saw them again, he just shook his head and begun observing again. He thinks that something was off but he just couldn't figure out what that is. The night is getting late and late and some of the guests are already leaving, wasted and passed out. He's been spending a pretty long hour to this noisy place but still didn't see anything suspicious.
He still didn't manage to finish his martini because he doesn't want to get drunk. He's also not fond of alcohol. And it's not the purpose of his presence here.
He was about to get convinced that Chief Simon just wanted him to go to this party and there is nothing wrong but something caught his attention. He's not sure but he thinks he saw a shadow from a distance and it might belong to one of the guests. But his detective instinct is telling him to go check what it is.
He stood up and was about to follow the shadow when somebody shouted. "Aaaahhhhhhh! Corpse!"
Everyone got alerted especially Detective Lee, Officer Chad and Officer Chase when they heard the commotion. The three men ran to the direction of the voice as the guests begun to murmur and gossip about what is happening.

With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

Lacraea: The Slow Journey To riches [HIATUS]
Darren was a successful businessman, founder of the biggest publishing studio AoE studios. He lived a good life that is, until he dies. He's given a choice. either he goes to the traditional heaven, where theres no internet, TV , meat, and sex OR he goes to a fantasy world like the many his company has published. Defeat a big bad boss and become filthy rich. Theres a catch though. unlike fantasy games, the people here are not NPCs to be trifled with mundane quests, the lowest level monsters that are usually cannon fodder in games are strong and fight for their lives like any living being would, The harsh economy of medieval times, the various languages and cultures of different races, and the politics and intrigue playing in the background with a war looming on the horizon. Oh and no respawns. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ No OP characters, No chosen one,and no "oh I did something that MILLIONS of other people just didn't think to do". I am also going to try my best to stick with realism. what a guy transported to medieval times would likely do with zero knowledge of cultures or combat aside from a few TV shows. If you're looking for a powerful chosen one who defeats scores of enemies without even looking, or who finds an ancient artifact to defeat a dark lord this isn't it.

Digital Immigrant
This is the story of how James Allen Quick and Sarah Lynn Abernathy died. By 'died', I mean that their hearts stopped, their brains ceased sending electrical impulses, and all other physical functions terminated. Immediately after which, their bodies were placed into an industrial furnace, reduced to ash, and the ash was spread about in one of the last forest reserves in North America. As ash-spreading locations go, this ranked third. First and second places were, of course, a person’s favorite athletic team’s playing field and the sea. Or rather, I should say that this is how the story begins. You see, it’s what came after that is so interesting.

Hardcore OP-ness
Most people pray for good health, a loving family, and to win the lottery. I asked “Can you send me to a game-like fantasy-style world? It can't be too unrealistic, but also, it would be nice if I was immortal to some degree. Oh yea, no rape or slavery either, cause then I'll have to spend the whole time trying to create a perfect society, and I'd rather not have to deal with all that nonsense. No other players either, cause that always creates a ton of annoying drama, and I just want to have a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable time.â€Three years later, after I had completely forgotten about all that… well, better late than never I suppose. The moral of this story, is to be careful what you wish for; also, cuteness is justice, so don't complain if adorable bunnies beat you to death and devour your corpse.(Warning: This story includes profanity, numbers, humanity, nudity, uncomfortable realism in a fantasy-world, awkward but mild sexual-content, descriptive violence and gore, nekomimi, necrophilia, bizarre and disturbing sexual-content, offensive language, plus all of the other things that disclaimers usually have to tell you about. Do not read this if you dislike transportation, virtual reality, fantasy, or other similar genres… or me, because I'm the author.)I'm only posting a few chapters on this site, but there are over 100 on my wordpress. https://mike777ac.wordpress.com/hardcore-op-ness/
