《My Mate is a Crazy Cat Lady {Namjoonxreader}》Chapter 45: Let's Run

It doesn't take long for me to grow dizzy. Clenching my eyes shut tight, I hold on and wait for it to stop, which isn't much time at all.
When he halts and I blink my eyes open, I find that we've come to a clearing with an algae covered pond that would best be described as an eye sore. So. This is where he wanted to take me? To this nasty ass pond? I'm feeling the love, Namjoon.
When he prompts me to, I unwrap my limbs and slide down till my feet hit the ground, still slightly dizzy. He turns, grasping both of my hands and swings our arms to and fro between us like an excited child. That same smile is still gracing his face and punches me right in the heart with how beautiful he is.
"Let's run together." he grins and continues his ministrations, as if he's so hyper he can't sit still.
"We just did." I point out, finding myself unable to keep from reciprocating his happy look.
"No, I mean, I turn Fluffy and you turn Kitty."
"Here?" I question, wondering if this place really is devoid of human life.
Seeming to read my mind he quickly adds, "Our pack owns this land; it's private property. No one will see us."
I mull it over before giving an answer. "Ok."
"OK!" he shouts and I draw back to stare at him. "You go there," I don't know why he said this and then proceeded to shove me behind said tree, but that's exactly what he does. "I'll go there," he points off to the other end of the clearing, his smile not disappearing for a second. "We can meet in the middle."
With a giggle he dashes off, leaving me behind the thick trunk of an oak that must be at least a century old.
Unlike last time, I don't feel self conscious in the fact that he's going to see this side of me. But undressing outside feels unnatural, and like there's a hundred eyes watching. In reality, we're alone, yet I don't want to take the chance and decide to shift pre clothes removal.
As soon as I do, I smell him. How did I forget how intoxicating that scent was? Did I say it was ten times better when he had mine mixed in with it? That's wrong. It's a thousand times better. Everything about it makes me (strangely) want to roll around on top of him and rub my head on every inch of his body I can get to.
The first couple or so steps on four legs are always awkward, but the adjustment isn't a difficult one to process. Once that's through I usually go through the mental checklist of differences so that nothing is too uncomfortable. Ears in the wrong place, the blanket of fur that covers me, the tail. The tail is the strangest part. In non complex terms, it feels like an extra arm or leg, but on my ass. In reality, it's actually a very important part of how I'm able to walk in a straight line and jump, and how I can communicate with other cats, though I've only been able to successfully do that last thing once.
Hesitantly I peek around the trunk of the tree, instantly spotting my Fluffy, already out in full view in the clearing, his eyes trained on the area I'm in and his mouth open in what should be a terrifying sight of sharp, canine teeth.

Oh my god.
How. How did I forget how fucking CUTE he is?!?
Not thinking twice about it, I come out and sprint across the clearing in his direction. His ears perk up when he spots me and he springs forward to meet me halfway. Our noses collide when we meet in the middle and after that it's a flurry of sniffs and nose bumps and affectionate head rubs.
The instinct is so strong I can't control it, my body moves on it's own as I rub the entire length of it against his face and down his side. After our initial greeting he's laid down on his stomach to get on my level and now remains still and allows me to do what I want. His size compared to my own should be intimidating, but it never crosses my mind. Really, nothing much does, save for the ever burning need to scent and mark my territory.
After a good while of this, I finally feel satisfied enough to sit back and look at him. His head resting on his paws, the only part of his body he moves are his eyes, silently asking if I've finished. My tail twitches behind me to let him know that I am, but he clearly doesn't get it. Right. That's cat language. Not knowing how else to get the message across, I blink once and sit still.
Evidently it was good enough. He stands to his feet, bringing my attention again to our size difference. And like every other time I'm faced with Fluffy, in one form or another, there's no fear or intimidation present. This is Namjoon, and Namjoon would never hurt me.
His teeth grin at me once more before he dashes off towards the tree line, glancing once over his shoulder to see if I'm following. To be honest I'd rather roll on top of him and then sleep for a few hours, but I guess I could do this too.
I pick up my paws and briskly follow after. Another disparity in our animal forms is our speed. He needs to slow down in order for me to be able to keep up with him, but his mood only lifts the farther we run together. Down a steep incline, around a bend of thistles, along a thin creek and then back again.
The forest feels different now. Bigger, the earthy scent more prevalent, the ground softer beneath my feet. There's something about the way the foliage bends and twists that gives me the urge to hide and I do just that, the second Namjoon's attention is elsewhere.
The moment he notices me missing from his side he halts, turning on the spot and looking all over. No doubt he knows I'm nearby from my scent, but it seems as if he's having trouble pinpointing my exact location. Amazingly my paws create no sound as I sneak forward, my back wiggling slightly as I prepare myself to pounce.
If I'd been able to, I would have laughed at the way Namjoon jumped half a meter in the air when I decided to launch myself out at him. Wasn't he supposed to be the dominant predator here? Then again, he might be bigger and stronger than me, but I'm meaner.
Once he'd gotten over his initial shock, we went back and forth like that. Me, weaving in and out of the brush and using my smaller size to my advantage, he, utilizing his speed to outrun me before I could hide. This was when we completely lost track of time. Nipping, chasing, hiding, both of us in a playful back and forth. My biggest accomplishment was the moment I managed to hide...directly under his belly. Standing, he was tall enough (or I was short enough) that we didn't even brush hairs. I'd been proud of this achievement, until I was rewarded with a hot, canine tongue coiled around my head. Something he of course knew would annoy the hell out of me.

By the time we've made it back to the clearing, twilight is approaching. In these bodies the approaching darkness doesn't hinder us at all, and finding our clothes is easy. Of course I double check to make sure no one is around to watch and Namjoon is far away before I turn back.
Just like the initial switch, moving back to two legs is just as awkward. I've never spent that long, or even really took time to enjoy my animal side like that and so this time around the differences in sound, smell, and sight cause my head to ache. I shake it off. It's nothing compared to how happy and freeing today was.
I regret the choice of no jacket now. The approaching night brings a cool breeze with it. I shiver while waiting on Namjoon, who makes his presence known by knocking on the bark of the tree and checking to make sure I'm dressed before walking around.
When I reply in the positive he runs around and scoops me up, spinning us around once before he kisses me, so long and deep that it forces my back to bend as I focus to keep up with his fast and intense pace.
I ain't complaining.
He finishes up in his costumary fashion, dipping down to place a lingering kiss to his spot on my neck.
"You're perfect." he declares, leaning back and grinning, only to come right back and kiss my forehead.
"Shut up." What can I say, I'm a romantic. And embarrassed easily. The only thing perfect about me is my love for cats and my cats themselves. If anything, Namjoon is the perfect one here.
Now. Right now is the perfect time to tell him. The day was perfect, the mood is perfect, the location is perfect. And if he rejects me and turns British and I end up old and alone then fuck it—at least I'll have no regrets.
"Namjoon-ie," I pull him closer so that his attention is solely focused on me, not wanting to risk any type of distractions. Nothing is going to stop me this time. Except-
"Noona!" Jungkook comes bounding out of the trees, disheveled and eyes brimming with unshed tears.
Any initial anger at his appearance was wiped away when I caught sight of his expression. Both of us run to greet him and Namjoon goes into full dad mode, asking what was wrong and cleaning the dirt from his face.
"Bunny escaped from the house and ran off." His cheeks rosy and hair tousled from running, he sniffles and inner cat lady coos at the cute (yet sad) sight. "She wanted to follow me outside but I said no—and then she started twerking—and doing that scary meow—and then put her butt in Princess Jingle bell's face—"
Against my will a snort escapes, but I manage to turn it into a cough when Namjoon sends me a sharp look.
"And she ran out the door and I couldn't catch her." When his lower lip begins to tremble I feel as if I might combust at this rate. Why the hell is this kid so cute?!? "I tried tracking her but I lost her scent. I thought she came in here but now I think she might have doubled back."
"It's alright, Kookie," Namjoon hushes him with a soothing pat on the back. "We'll find her. Let's go get your other hyungs so we can search together."
"Not to alarm you or anything," I interrupt. "But Bunny is in heat. She's looking for a male and might have already found one. She'll come back once she's—well...satisfied."
Namjoon gasps and covers Jungkook's ears. Really? Does he really think a teenage boy in high school doesn't know about this stuff? For fucks sake, just the other day Hoseok was in the same situation, minus the twerking.
Wait. Maybe all the cat needs is some milk?
Stop it Y/n.
What she needs is the D.
D. Meaning dairy. Dairy meaning...
Milk. The cat needs milk.
...me? I need a psych evaluation.
"Hyung," Jungkook turns alarmed eyes onto Namjoon when he uncovers his ears. "What if she comes back pregnant?"
YES. LET THIS HAPPEN.
"I will take ALL THE BABIES." I squeal, now wishing with all hope that Bunny is somewhere off getting it on with any number of neighborhood cats. I can see it now. Me, with seven kittens that I can raise and love and dress and cuddle and name and care for and play with and put above all of my other priorities because cats are the most important thing in the universe and if I had a plethora of cats busting out of my house that would grant every wish I ever could have wished for and I would never want for anything anymore because how could I they're so lovable and perfect and perfect and purrfect and YES I WANT THE MOTHER FUCKING KITTENS.
"Noona, are you alright?"
I'm ripped out of my daydream to find both boys staring at me worriedly. Why are they looking at me like that?
"Yes!" my voice comes out, tone high and squeaky, the image of little kittens with the tiniest little paws still playing in my mind. "Yes," I say again, a little calmer this time. I clear my throat. "Yes. Let's look for Bunny—but not too hard."
Namjoon is unimpressed by my attitude. "Really, Y/n?"
I ignore him and his negative look on things and pat Jungkook's unoccupied shoulder. "Don't worry, Jungkook. Trust me. Bunny is fine. Actually, she's more than fine."
The kid decides to adopt his fake naive act, turning away from Namjoon to address me with roundest puss-in-boots eyes I've ever seen him use before.
"Really, Noona?" he questions and I just barely catch the corner of his mouth twitching. "What is Bunny doing right now?"
Namjoon has had enough. "STOP IT!"

Under a Boundless Sky
If you were to ask someone what they thought of Revian Snow, they would say that she's small. Cute too. Doesn't talk much. Average grades, and hard to find in a crowd, though you'd think that someone with her looks would be more noticeable. She also plays the popular VRMMO's for some reason, but doesn't like to interact with others too much, even online. In short, she doesn't stand out too much. She likes it that way—After all, it's much easier to keep a secret when nobody's looking for one. If you enjoy my work, please consider supporting me on Patreon.
