《Vampire's Betrayal》Chapter Two

Since there wasn't much I could do with the twins while they were sleeping, I decided to look for the place Emily was being held. It wasn't hard to find the place which surprised me. At least it did until I entered the room and saw David staring down a smirking Emily.

Emily had all of her limbs handcuffed to a metal chair. A small table sat in front of her and that was all that was in the room. David leaned against the wall next to the door. He didn't even look at me as I entered the room. Sadly, Emily noticed and her smirk turned into a scowl.

"Happy to see that I'm alive?" I poked at her as I turned towards David, "Why don't you take a break?"

His dark eyes shifted to me but he remained to stand like a statue against the wall. I was sure that he had no intention on moving. So when he suddenly stood up and walked out of the room took me by surprise. Even though he didn't say a word, I knew that he was standing just outside the door in case I needed him.

"Looking at you pisses me off," Emily suddenly spat.

I sighed and looked at her, "The feeling is mutual. Especially since you fricken shot me in the chest."

"And, I would do it again if given the chance," she said full of hatred.

Emily's anger and hatred towards me was something I couldn't understand. Other than the fact that she was just ridiculously jealous. Or, obsessive. But nothing about her makes sense to me. It was as if she was just an evil person.

The feeling that there was no point of me being in the same room as her filled me. Emily was just going to continue to throw hateful things at me and I wasn't going to get anywhere. By being in the same room as her, I was just putting off whatever needed to be done. So with out a word, I left the room. Which only angered Emily more.

"That's it?! You aren't going to curse me? Wish my death?!" she screamed as I opened the door and left the room, "Get back in here you bitch."

The door slammed closed behind me and David leaned against the wall across the hall. He looked at me with an expressionless look on his face. He didn't say anything as I let out a sigh, "Why did I even come here?" I asked myself.

For a few seconds, I expected David to say something. But instead he just continued to stand there silent. It was making me uncomfortable to see him like this. In all of the time I've known David, I've never seen him quiet or so guarded as he was now. Something was bugging him and it made me want to reach out to him. I suddenly missed the David I grew used to.

I opened my mouth to say something but David beat me to it, "Don't say anything, Leah. I don't want to hear it right now."

After that he walked away from me. Making me watch is retreating figure.

"Great, he's in that mood now" Ricky's voice took me by surprise as I quickly looked in the direction it came from. Ricky had his arms crossed over his chest as he stared at the direction David disappeared in. His eyes then fell on me, "Don't take it personally, Leah. He just needs to fight out his frustrations. I feel sorry for the guy that has to help him with that."

"Thank you for saving me, Ricky," I suddenly said to him. Making him smile.

Throwing his arm around my shoulders, he began to lead me away from the room that Emily was most likely screaming in, "You're my sister now. I have to be the good big brother and protect you."

Just hearing those words were comforting. The only brother figures I had growing up were Jake and Jack. Which reminded me that I should see them some time since I was now out of the medical ward.

It was as if Jack knew he crossed my mind as he suddenly turned the corner ahead of us. A shocked look rested on his face as he saw me and Ricky walking towards him. Jack also didn't waste time coming up to me to give me a big hug.

"Jack, I'm still recovering," I reminded him. Making him pulled back.

"I'm sorry, Leah. I'm just glad to see that you are okay," he said with a sigh of relief, "When they brought you in, they weren't sure if Ricky had made it in time."

That was something I didn't think to put into consideration. The scene after Emily shooting me must have been chaotic and a mess. All of those who cared about me were probably impatiently waiting to hear word about my condition. Jake was probably going crazy to now know anything about his best friend.

"How is Jake holding up?" I asked. Feeling like a bad friend.

"You should probably heal a little more before going to see him," Jack responded with a small smile. Earning a disapproving look from me.

As much as I know that he was only looking out for me, I didn't have to agree with him. Jake was probably making himself sick with worry. It would really put his mind at ease if he was able to see me. To know that I was still walking and breathing.

With a sigh, I told Jack, "Tell your future brother-in-law to prepare Jake."

"Why did I think you would actually listen to me?" Jack complained.

Patting him on the shoulder, I replied with a smile, "You should know better."

He rolled his eyes as he looked at Ricky for help. But Ricky just held up his hands as if to say that I wasn't his problem.

"And you wonder why people say you aren't ready to be a leader," Jack jabbed.

Ricky flipped him off, "I'm pretty sure Leah out ranks me."
