Chapter 16

Stepping into the outside world, I realized how woefully unprepared I was for the sunlight. Covering my eyes from the sun, I timidly open them once more. All around me are wooden structures. I turn around to inspect the guard house but instead I am awestruck by what I see: Looming over the entire town is a large cliff face. Similar to the one that tried to kill me, except this one was facing the opposite direction making it the southern cliff face. Seeing this I immediately conclude my guess that this is the city of the dragons.

All of the structures had one similar thing in common, they appeared to be made of some sort of wood.* Some of them were made using some type of paint or material I didn't know. Kina and i were walking along a wooden sidewalk that was curved proportionally to the cliff. Eventually the sidewalk became wider and wider until the buildings to my right disappeared, giving a sight of the ocean and any future sunrises. Closer to the cliff was several smaller buildings that appeared to be selling things. This gave the entire place a feeling of a pier. In wonder I walked to the railing that was put in place and look out to the ocean happy I got to once again see the majestic sight. Curious I looked down over the railing.

Interesting enough I had not seen the ground far away like I had expected, but instead saw another “floating town” like this one. The town was split into tight sections and walkway allies. Based on the traffic of the people I assume most of these are either houses or some type of job building, because these got very minimal traffic. There was the pier which made up about a 1/12 of the entire structure. There was a big section cut off from rest of the “town” from what I could see. The railing prevented me from seeing anything aside from the large gap. I decided I would ask kina about it later. Turning around I saw several benches and tables that had several people sitting at them along with simple set up shops (like a flea market) that sold random things. Further in the back I saw permanent stores that got a considerable amount of traffic. Going from left to right along the pier, there was a “food” store, a tailor, a jeweler, a armorer, a weapon shop, and finally a furniture shop. Between every 2 stores was a walkway that extended back to some large buildings. Based off of what I saw I concluded those to either be a “job building” or a residential area.

Seeing kina also behind me, staring intently at me. when she saw my face though she smiled. I had a wide smile. This was probably the happiest I have ever been here. I was outside with people not giving me a agitated or angry stare, I was able to see out over the ocean taking in a wonderful sight. This may have been the only time I felt truly stress free. Knowing how kina is very shy, and probably uncomfortable, I say to her

“Thank you kina for showing me this. Today I feel I finally came to peace with myself. I am glad I was saved by you.”

Kina simply reveals an expression of shock when I said that. My hopes were that she could become more comfortable outside, so that she could take in all of the sights and wonders others could, without being burdened by whatever she was always thinking about. She really does need more friends. I chuckled a little bit at the thought.

“I think this was what I really needed. I think I am finished sightseeing today. Would you like to go home now?”

I may not have seen much or even been to any interesting part of town but I truly felt that just stepping out onto the pier was what I needed. A large breath of fresh air. A bit of sunshine. A simple walk. And a blushing kina. Who knew life could feel this good.

It was a short walk to the guard house, the one i was recovering at was near the pier and was the final building on the east side of town. Walking back into the guard house we were greeted by splitting wind and a guard I had not met. Splitting wind has a smile on his face the moment he sees us.

“So kina, how was the date?” The man said while cracking a mischievous smile this time.

“Grr” was the only thing kina said before briskly walking off back into the town bright red, going god knows where.

The knew guard spoke then, “haha splitting wind you know your going to regret teasing her like this later, that woman is known to hold a grudge.”

“Oh yes she does hehe, still is way to fun though.”

“Hello sam, my name is Louis.” Louis said to me.

Since his full attention was on me now, I decided I would inspect him now. He was thinner in size then I was and he had pointed ears denoting he was an elf. His looks were relatively good by my standards but he look pretty gruff like a pirate almost. Probably due to his beard, or what I could only call “scraggle”. He had sharp green eyes and his skin had a heavy tan pigmentation due to him being in the sun a lot. And finally his black hair was tied back into a moderately sized ponytail, accenting his gruff look.

Not one to shy away from strangers, I stuck out my arm for a handshake.

“It seems you already know me, Louis. Name is sam it's nice to meet you.” I said.

Louis takes my hand and gives a firm handshake.

“Splitting wind said that you needed training in dexterity and agility, and that learning the bow would be helpful. I am a trained marksman, so I will teach you what I know.”

This made me understand why Louis already knew me. He would be my trainer. I looked at him expectantly.

-several miles east of sword bay-

A large shuttle heavily lands with a clear attempt at avoiding to damage the ground. On the shuttle is a large C7. After several moments of careful landing the shuttle successfully lands quickly, robots dismantle a part of the shuttle turning it into a living space. Soon an expansive area is turned into a living area for these aliens.

“Ma’am, the shuttle has successfully been turned into a adequate living space. Colony 7 has officially been engaged”

An older looking woman nods to her subordinate, then looks at him. Her left eye glows a slight red.

“May our efforts not be in vain.” The lady says with hope in her voice.

The subordinate salutes her then walks off toward one of the newly created building. The white dove on his shoulder becoming visible for a moment. Showing his allegiance to the dove faction.
