Chapter 1
-1944-
When it all started, I was just a simple person. Just an average college student, learning average things. My name is Sam baker. I wanted to be an archeologist, I wanted to be like an arthur evans. When I was growing up I ran around my parents yard digging up rocks and claiming it was an ancient culture’s artifact and that it was valuable. Towards the end of my story, I suppose I was more like Beowulf. I got to go and explore dungeons, find the treasure and hunt rare monsters. Even with my explorer guts and my insatiable desire to find unheard of treasures, that world may have been more than I could handle all too many times did I find myself biting off more than I could chew. All stories have beginnings mine is no exception. My story just like so many all started when I entered a new world: a world of swords.
Getting up from my desk, I appeared as I was a rather tall, brown haired, 21 year old, tough stuff boy from the countryside of the United States. The school bell rang and soon after I got up other students follow. A blond haired student goes over to me, to try and start up a conversation.
“Hey Sam you going to go to the bar tonight?
“I'll see what's going on, gotta make sure that I don't have any classes or the such after. Last time we went I had a hangover for nearly the entire day”
“Hahahaha you only had 4 drinks”
“I know! I told you I was a lightweight! You just didn't listen”
“Ok ok well I'll save you a seat”
The blond haired “kid” walked off with his bag still chuckling at Me being a “lightweight”. After being depressed for a moment and sighing, Sam left the classroom.

-Later in the day-
After studying for a bit I decided to go to the bar. Even if I'm a lightweight I could still have some fun. Getting in my 1940 studebaker commander, which i absolutely adore, I started to drive off. I decided for a moment (due to lack of cars on the road, which was odd) to look up at the sky. The full moon was very pretty that day although it seemed very red. After arriving at the lot and parking I hiked up the small hill that the bar was resting on. Noticing the small court, I decided to play some ball with jack (the blond haired man-child in class) and some others, that is, if they had a ball. I walk up to the door and push on in lightly.
“Hey Sam been awhile since I last saw you!”
“Been awhile since I last had a hangover too…”
I look at the cute brunet waitress in front of me.
“Aww don't be like that Sam, not my fault you're bad with alcohol”
“I know but I'm not excited to get another one daisy”
After asking where jack was I head off to the court. Looks like they did have a ball. It was obvious that jack and some others had been playing as a few of them came over sweating.
“Hey jack you me go shoot some? Maybe they can go order your drink.”
“So you came! Just for you Sam, I will play a little more, but you need to let me rest a bit”
Jack passes me the ball. After catching the ball i walk towards the basketball court. I turn towards jack and I continue to walk backwards
“Hey jack wha-”
Jack’s eyes grow wide and he starts to try to say something however, before he could speak the world started to shake and rumble, screaming could be heard. I lost balance and fall backwards into an abyss. After falling for what felt like an eternity my hips and head start to throb. Then as if the entire world wanted to tear me apart, it felt as if my entire upper body was being shredded. Every nerve being moved. My entire body burned.
Was I falling to hell?
Why would anyone have to go through this?
Just as suddenly as it started it ended. The abyss started to flow with color.
*WHAM*
I hit a floor.

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."

Murderously Disturbed
This collection chronicles the horrific contents of my brain in poetic form. This is not for the faint of heart. It contains terrifying moments of murder, suicide, mayhem, rituals, hauntings, and nightmares in various poetic forms from ballads to sonnets and many more. Most of these pieces are oneshot tales, but the "Haunted Blades" ballad sequence is marked with an asterisk (*) throughout the collection to denote an interconnected series of poems.
