《1000-Hit KO》N-Nani?

What would have normally been a massacre, ended up pretty anti climactic. Nem saw another isolated golem and slowly swaggered towards it, his hip swinging in huge arcs. Normally, Nem would approach any situation cautiously, due to the weak nature of his character. This time, however, Nem walked towards the golem with cockiness so bright that the sun would pale in comparison.
The golem, seeing Nem slowly approach it, raised its arm for a mighty swing. Nem didn’t dodge nor attempt to block the attack. Even when the golem’s arm had already started descending at breakneck speed, Nem continued to walk towards the golem in a slow manner. Any moment now, the golden light would come.
As Nem patiently awaited the golden light, that had yet to appear, the long arm continued to fall. Soon, it reached a distance of 8 meters from Nem’s head.

Right when the arm was 2 feet away from Nem’s head he caught a golden light out of the corner of his eye. Nem looked at the direction he saw the light. Nem’s face was ecstatic for a moment, and then instantly changed into an expression of shock as he came to the realization that the golden light he saw just now never existed. His eyes had played tricks on him. Right when Nem made this realization, the arm finished its journey and smashed into Nem’s head.
Having never felt the giant golem’s attack before, Nem didn’t know how strong its attack was. His cockiness, however, had lead him to overestimate himself; setting him up to take the golem’s attack on at full force. The golem’s arm was so strong that he had directly forced Nem to flip over and land on the group face first. That’s when the rest of the long arm completely rested on the floor, causing a huge tsunami of dust and rubble to erupt all around it.

After a long while, the arm finally lifted up, revealing the devastation it left on the ground below it. One could vaguely see an outline of a human on the edge of the ravine that the arm had left in its wake. A hand suddenly erupted from the outline of the human and a young man climbed out. When the dust settled, one could see that the young man was Nem. He had been hit so hard that his body had been thrown a whole foot underground! Nem quickly chugged 2 potions before escaping the golem’s next attack. The arm had done 120 dmg to Nem, leaving him with hardly 25 hp! Luckily he had the potions from earlier and could somewhat recover.
Although the golem’s attack was swift and fierce, they were heavily telecasted (some action showed that the attack was going to happen) and thus predictable. While Nem continously dodged the golem’s attack, he checked his skills to see why Observant hadn’t activated.
When he looked at the skill bar, he was greeted by a gray Observant icon with a number indicating its cooldown. If it was just a normal cooldown, Nem wouldn’t fret and would simply wait it out, however, the cooldown wasn’t just a “normal” one. It wasn’t 3 seconds long, 3 minutes long, or even 3 hours long, but 3 whole days long! 72 hours! This meant that he could only use this skill once every 3 days, and since it’s a passive skill, he can’t control when and where it activates, meaning that it will be next to impossible to use during dire situations without some serious luck.
Just when Nem had thought he had approached the end of the tunnel, he was blocked with a huge bolder yet again! This skill, Observant, was the key to making his somewhat undesirable situation better, yet the drawback was simply too great.

10 minutes had passed and Nem had finally slain the golem he was fighting earlier. If it wasn’t for the fact that Nem had remembered where and when the golden lights showed up during his earlier confrontation, he wouldn’t have been able to take this golem down. Even with the help of knowing how to counteract it, it took him twice as long this time! Nem bitterly collected the pink shard that fell as he thought about how obsolete the only skill he had, had become.
Looks like there’s no shortcut to becoming strong. Nem would have to bitterly farm to become a strong player.

Restaurant Core
A dungeon core that wants to feed others instead of itself. Can this dungeon overcome its challenging start in a goblin cave? Will it achieve its dream of being the ultimate restaurant or will it be forced to concede to its own nature as a dungeon core? Follow Regis the dungeon and his loyal hobgoblin servant Strum in this dungeon's quest to become the one and only Restaurant Core. I started this to give me a more humorous character-centric narrative to explore. I also wanted to poke fun at the typical dungeon core story by turning it on its head. Who knows, maybe you'll learn a recipe or two from it. Hope you enjoy!Updates at least once a week. Special thanks to Asviloka for so much help in the art direction of the cover. Much love to her. And some thanks to carebear90 for their invaluable input during the process. Asviloka's profile: https://www.royalroad.com/profile/108594

(5/26/16) Rereading my own work, finding something called dedication and determination again, I may pick this back up in June or later. Stay tuned for more info.
