《I Came, I Ran》The Hunt

Awaking, the boy saw trees. Trees with no leaves, branches as thin and as dead as the chick he had killed some time ago. He felt himself laying on the dirt, but not itching from any grass. He moved his hands and felt the dirt have cracks in it, producing a dusty feeling on his hands as well. He knew he was in a badlands zone, but this didn’t make sense.

When climbing down the mountain, the boy distinctly remembered how the tree’s and the Earth were rich and vibrant, giving off the feeling of live. This place where he was laying now wasn’t the place he landed in. The boy wanted to get up, but he couldn’t lift his chest; he looked to see why.

There, laying on his chest, was a body. The body had thick, dark fur with almost no visible signs of fighting, and it was heavy; almost crushingly heavy. ‘Oh...yep, now I feel it.’ The boy felt the weight of the body on himself, and started pushing against the body. Eventually, with much struggle and little success, the boy freed himself.

The boy went around the body, and his mood almost instantly improved. He saw that the body belonged to his dreaded terrorizer, the wolf. ‘Looks like the battle was real... but how?’ As the boy was questioning the how the fight that took place in his mind was real, he also looked to his surroundings.

The dead trees went almost as far as the eye could see, with the exception of the living ones reappearing right at the limit the boy’s vision. He also noticed an annihilated rock surface not too far away from his location. This rock surface was part of a mountain, which the boy supposedly came from. This concluded the theory on how the boy got here.

‘How the hell did all this greenery turn to death in the time span I was out...’

The boy’s thoughts were interrupted by a great rumbling in his stomach. He felt like he could eat a person, and only then be sated. The boy started heading towards the lively part of the forest, hoping to find some food.

------------------------------------------

It has been an hour, and the boy still found no food. He was now in the forest for forty minutes, hiding between trees and going further and further into the forest, feeling both his hunger and the feeling of extreme thirst. He was getting weaker and weaker, wanting to eat and drink more and more.

Finally, on the 11th tree the boy stayed on, he found himself some wandering food. It was a small doe, eating some twigs off a bush. The boy prowled on his branch above the doe, as quietly as possible trying to move into the perfect position to strike. The boy made some noises as he was prowling towards the doe, stopping as to not alert the doe several times.

The doe almost noticed him once but the boy’s speed allowed him to stop, the doe unknowing about its coming demise. Once in position, the boy jumped down onto the doe, his hands aiming for its neck. The deer almost instantly noticed the flying teenager, and started to run. The boy fell on the ground, but got up and started to run after the doe, his want for food outmatching the pain of the starvation.

The boy’s speed and acceleration were far faster than the doe, allowing him to catch up to it with only mild obstacles, provided by the forest. Once on top of the doe, the boy wrapped his weak hands around its neck, squeezing as hard as he could. The doe kept running, slowly running out of both strength and breath.

The doe fell to the ground, no breath left to breath. The boy put his head to its chest, and still heard a heartbeat. ‘Unconscious then...not for long.’ The boy brought back his arm, preparing to stab into the doe with his hand. His hand straight, the boy shot his arm into the doe. It pierced through easily enough, but the bones the boy hit pierced into his hand.

Bleeding and stabbed, the boy went further in, his hand searching for the doe's heart. Eventually he died find it, crushing it and killing the doe if it wasn’t already dead. Taking his hand out of the body, the boy saw a large bone chunk stabbed into the space between his middle finger and pointing finger. Carefully, and very painfully, the boy took out the bone shard.

His hand bleeding, the boy looked around for something to stop it. No clothes or items on him except the amulet, the boy turned to ripping off and placing on resin covered leaves around the wound, as a sort of bandage. The wound kept bleeding, but significantly less. The boy left it to naturally heal, going on with the next step of his plan to eat. ‘How the hell will I carve you up?’

The boy started to drag the doe’s corpse, only to be shoot at. The boy felt the projectile coming before it hit him, so he shot out of the way, the projectile grazing his chest. The boy shot his head towards the direction the projectile came from, only taking a quick glance at the projectile, an arrow; he was dealing with a hunter.

The boy jumped around the closest tree near him, hiding behind it, trying to hear where his assailant was. All the trees around the boy made it impossible to spot whatever was hiding, so the boy relied on sound. A few moments passed, and the forest was silent, signifying that a predator was nearby. ‘Must be my new friend...’

The boy remained hidden behind the tree, snapping off some bark, and slowly sticking it out to see if the hunter was still there. An arrow shot into, and through the bark, hitting another tree. The boy took back the bark, and started to think on how he could get out of his situation. ‘Maybe...no...the amulet maybe?’

The boy started to slowly reach down to his leg, making sure to not appear from his cover. Taking it off, and putting it on, the boy’s eyes instantly started to hurt. The worlds colors jumped into the boy's eyes, new colors appearing around him, showing the world in a godly sight. The boy resisted the urge to groan, and ran out from the tree.

A fast arrow came a moment later, slicing through the top of the boy’s shoulder. The boy managed to feel it coming several moments earlier, moving out of the way to not get the full hit. The boy saw where the arrow came from getting there in two seconds, one arrow stuck in his thigh. The hunter had a very quick draw.

The boy pounced his assailant, managing to punch them in the face without even looking at who he was exacting murder on. The assailant brought a dagger from nowhere, and tried to slash across the boy’s neck, failing with a wide miss, opening themselves up for another punch in the ribs.

The hunter being thoroughly punched in the ribs, tried to stab the boy. The boy caught the arm of the hunter, and brought himself around them. Putting the person in a chokehold, the person started to claw at the boy’s face, getting one finger in the eye and forcing the boy to let go. Promptly so, the boy took off the amulet, dropping it to the ground.
