《When I was old》Chapter 3

Ch 3
'Whoa! As excepted. This scenery is really breathtaking, but guess that's to be expected of this one true god guy'
What Oni-chan said, in fact could at best be called a huge understatement. Putting in a bad way, it would be just complete bullshitting. As even without describing how finely structured and decorated is every inch of this 200 mile radius department. Just imagining 100 floors of books put together will make anyone gasp a cold breath
'Well, I'm not here for sightseeing, let's see..'
"Yuki-chan, Is there any soul strengthening secret technique here. If so, please tell me also whatever technique that may go together as a support with this kind of martial art."
"Hmm, yeah, in fact there is a countless number of them. But judging from the way you talked, I can guess that you want the best one even though it comes with its risks. And you want me to help you by pointing out books that will help you dramatically reduce the side effects, right?"
"Well, yeah. That's right. But wow, you really understand things rapidly. At least with this I can just shorten conversations that should take a whole five minutes to a sentence."
"No please don't do that. It will be very tiring. Now let's return to the subject.
Well there is one technique or maybe two that come to mind. In fact you can just think of them as a set, since they work together pretty well. They are called "Extreme Soul Purify" and "Extreme Soul Enhance". But to be able to master them, you need to also learn some soul adaptation methods like "Zen" or "Chinese meditation". I for one would recommend the trilogy of the Soul Lord, as it basically sum up the multiple kind of adaptation methods existing across the multiuniverse."
"Hmm, it would be kind of interesting to know why would someone bother writing this kind of experience in a book."
"Yeah, he did it for his lost clan. As this one was well versed in soul meditation methods, making them produce world shaking geniuses constantly. But like you should have guessed by now, their kingdom betrayed them. Because of paranoid and greed, multiple clans and families crumbled. It's the same story with this clan. Sigh, when those two cursed emotions combine, it always spell a tragedy."
"Yeah, I kinda know that better than most, but whatever, cough..cough, so where were the books again"
"The 56th floor, 720 meters to your right."
"Thanks."

As I started reading the trilogy, I noticed that some words are "brighter" than others. I mean, when you open the book, the first thing you see are those words. So the curious me asked if these words are some kind of base or check point. As every text between two "bright" words explain the former of the two. These words don't need to be some conceptual ones like "Equality" or "Democracy", but can be adverbs or adjectives or even pronouns. The text afterward will give insights on when, where, how, what and why are those verbs used. When I told Yuki about that she laughed, and just said that it's just some basic understanding.

Damn, this is the first time that I'm made fun of,. Remember this day a.i. number 01, there will come a day where I'll repay today's favor a hundred fold.
"Well, if I were you I would prefer to start practicing rather than spouting nonsense. Those other idiots won't just wait for you finishing your drama"
'Damn! Did i just do something I hated in every novel's MC, this me! Impossible! Can't believe it!!... Sigh, before I have mental breakdown, I think it would be better to start forging my soul first.
...
In the blink of an eye, one year already passed. At first, when I got those two techniques. Yuki told me that it might be better to start purifying my soul before starting enhancing it. A kinda pointless statement as I would have done that either way, wait... is there even someone idiot enough to do it backward, I mean seriously? Just thinking about it for a second will let you tell that it will be incomparably more difficult.
If you start purifying while your soul is already the size of a planet. Just how much time, pain and effort will you need to spend to do that? Either way, it seems that as expected, my talent in this field is monstrous. But how would it be otherwise.
There is another way to say "Soul talent". It's basically just how clever you are, and how much experience do you have? Can someone beat an out casted gamer, who constantly think about the meaning of life, and sharpen his mind with strategy games. Making even supposedly pay to win game free to play. That's an achievement few in history would have dared to be cold about.
That's why in this twelve months, Oniyama already half finished the trilogy and already purified his soul to an impossible to reach level. But the quantity is still quite low, so it can't really be compared to those immortals of the legends, I mean, hey? He doesn't have the support of their qi cultivation level. Neither their never ending pills. He could create those pills in the time he have left. But it will be kind of pointless, as those immortals already have ridiculous grandmasters alchemist by their side, and in these 30 years, even if we consider the possibility of him having the talent of one true god himself. He will barely be able to do that.
That's why Oni put that as a secondary objective, and concentrated on making his soul familiar with every element in existence, how? Well he just bunched up all basic elemental skills and created some dummies who will turn the infinite yuan qi in the air to pseudo harmless elemental energy. The reason why it's just pseudo and not truly harmless energy. It's that even with all the preparation he made, wishing to die from pain is a natural result for anyone who try something this reckless.

And for why didn't he just focus on one element at a time. It would have been way more effective and less painful. The answer to that should be: Does he look like someone who have the time for that? It's pretty normal that he would familiarize himself that way as it will be an automatic process. But if he start giving every single element the focus that he need, how will he get any advantages over others?
First and foremost, he should get his basics down, and have a rough understanding on how to proceed when he will start cultivation on the true world. Only then will he have a head start compared to others, for how will he do that? It's pretty simple.
He only need to acquire knowledge from books talking about the experiences of those immortal experts. and couple that with his own personal experience, both theorical and the practical one. And that's exactly what he is trying to do as he finally succeeded in making a mortal body that will host his soul for the next 30 years. I mean, he can't just start cultivating in his random gas form, right?
In this one year, Oni chan accumulated far more knowledge on the human body than any kind of best doctor in earth.... Well he kind of already had his basic down from back in his past life, coupled with the unlimited knowledge he have access to. It would have indeed been pretty weird if he didn't.
"Finally, I'm done with this, it really took up quite a bit of time, Now I can finally start cultivating, Yahoo!!!!"
No one can really blame Oni for his outburst. As the feeling he has right now, is the same as when you level up after 3 month of grind. A feeling of immense satisfaction.
"Oh well, no need to be too excited, my first objective is strengthening my soul, now we will know what kind of benefit will it have on my talent"
The reason why Oni was so obsessed about his soul is pretty simple. When he will reincarnate, what will be the thing that will pass over? Unless you have a profound case of retardness, you would have answered "his soul". And damn, you are right. The only thing that will always let him be what he is, is his soul. And not even the supposed one true god will change that. As it is written within the basic rules of the world(world is in this case used, in his general meaning, like the multiuniverse, but a tad bit bigger, as it kinda cover up all existence), so if he was gonna waste his time doing something, it would be better if he train his soul.
Of course, he wouldn't just forget everything else. But it doesn't matter as the process of purifying his soul with his inner flame, and enhancing it with soul force, is a repetitive and automatic process. So while not as effective as focused one, automatic training still bring much benefit. The proof to that would be that if his soul wasn't as strong as it is now. He will be like the other idiots still thinking of a way to start cultivating with no head or tail on how to start.
"Form before your master, vessel of the apocalypse, death harbinger, MY PERSONNA!!"
As Oni-chan finished chanting, a cluster of bone and dust started spiraling before him. As time passed, a handsome black haired, blue eyed, sharp nosed figure started appearing from head to foot. The body in front of him was that of 197cm tall, slim, with well defined muscles man. The ears were a little bit pointy making one think of the legendary elf race. While the black wings in his back will make one confused, as such a contrast shouldn't happen. Because of the eternal war between elves and demons.
"I guess I kind of overdid it, but the inside is the same as that of a human, so it doesn't matter. Plus it's cool, so it's a thumbs up on that. Also, is it just me, or did I use the word ‘kinda’ way too many times… oh well, whatever"
As Oniyama finally finished his nonsense, his golden soul started entering the vessel at an extremely slow pace. It's not until 2 hours later did last speck of his soul enter "his head".

It is then fused with a Lost Dungeon World to increase its inhabitants chances of survival in a new, system-enhanced universe. Cade Vale barely avoids death in the first second. Will he be able to overcome the rigors of this new world and survive? Will he be able to carve a new life out of the aether for himself and those whom he loves most? ...Will he be able to avoid becoming everything he hates in order to do so? Artwork by Kayla Basciano - Instagram: vulpix1323 Inspired primarily by the systems in The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound, The Genesis System, and The New World as well as by Savage Divinity, Azarinth Healer, and Shovels in Spades in general. I haven't been able to get these worlds out of my head and I've been waiting for something to fill the void left by the hiatus of Genesis, but so far nothing has scratched that itch as much as ProfoundMagician was able to with the world he created. I figure if I'm going to be thinking about this stuff as much as I do I might as well get better at writing while playing with a number of those ideas that I love. I have a number of specifics and events I want to show in the story, but a lot of the fun is coming up with ways to branch those together cohesively. This is an attempt to alleviate my depression by channeling my creativity into a hobby. Hopefully it's as enjoyable to read as it is to write.
