Diary entry 4

So I got paired with Tex and Hanji. No sign of other Earthlings and the two have been bickering about cultural differences of how death is viewed and burial rights for the last hour or so. What kick-started this conversation was that we passed by a mass grave. It looked to be on the edge of what I assume is a quarantine camp. City guards would raise their spears and yell in the native language when we approached, so we took the hint we weren't welcome. From what I could see, however, Everyone there looked broken. covered in filth and soars. The bodies were piled about four feet high and were being thrown in a kiln one by one. The smell was horrible.

We all reconvened in the town square. No one else found anyone else either. Yuki's group did however confirm my suspicions. Magic does exist. They watched what Declan described as a ninja running away from the town guard who then started running on air, stepping on one-foot purple platforms that appeared under his feet. Yuki didn't like him calling it a ninja, but from his description, it at least sounds like what I assume a ninja to be.

José and Valentina's group on the other hand had an interesting encounter. Valentina said some, and I quote, "Steampunk looking mother fucker" took an interest in José's watch. They used the speech bubble to communicate. They learned that there is apparently a school here that specializes in teaching the basics of the local language. Speech bubbles are very expensive so some upstart Aristocratic merchant started the school. It's free in exchange for labor so we are going to check it out.

Oh, also speech bubbles' official names are "Babble Bobbles." when translated to English. I think I'm gonna stick to "speech bubble."

José also sold his watch to the man and made a profit of 5 coins of what is called gold, but according to Tex is pyrite. When we asked how he knew that he shrugged and said he had a rock collection back home. I don't know if he's telling the truth on that or not but I guess it doesn't matter. None of us know what the conversion rate is on that but it's more than we had, and we assume it's a good bit since in games gold is usually the biggest currency. Good job José.
