Chapter 11 - Something greater

Bang!

A loud slam echoed through the hallways and into our room. Everyone flinched into the corner of the beds even for those who were in mid-sleep.

“What makes Him think that everything is under His control?! Who does He think He is?! God or something?” A low angry voice screamed in rage.

“Be quiet, newbie. Do you want to announce that everything is a part of His plan or something? You’d be killed before you knew what hit you.” A gentle calm voice replied.

“But, senior. Does He think He can just give a call and then expect it to work out immediately? We need more time to arrange. It’s like He’s driving slaves!”

Their voices soon fades out as they walked past the door to our rooms.

“For what we do know He dies control everything. At least humanity.”

Urrgh.

A memory I didn’t want to remember. For the short while that I was there, I don’t want to remember anything. My mind has awaken but my eyes refuse to open.

‘Him? He?’

I feel like I’m forgetting something important. I grabbed my head in pain.

Urrgh. ‘No, I don’t want to think of it too much.’

For now I need to focus on one thing. Finding and meeting Mimi. Mimi knows.

My eyes finally opens as the daylight sun shines into the room. I head towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the family after freshening up. However, when I got there I saw an older lady already cooking something.

“Madam, why are you doing these? I can do them.” I said as I rushed up to take over cooking duty.

“How many times do I have to say not to call me madam! You are like a part of our family!” The lady said.

“But..”

“No ‘buts’!” She scolded, “You can go and call Nico out. She’s been doing much better ever since you came.”

I smiled as I head towards Nico’s, Jacob’s little sister, room. Usually I’d wake up early to prepare breakfast for the family but I think that the dream I had this morning made me sleep in. It really did not feel like a dream and I know it wasn’t really a dream. It was something that really happened.

“Nico!” I said as I knocked on her door.

“Come in!” A soft voice said. If I didn’t have good hearing I think I wouldn’t have heard her voice.

“Nico, can you get out of bed for breakfast today?” I questioned as I looked at a young girl who is almost all skin and bones.

I feel pity. She was suppose to be a beautiful young adult but due to mental torture she wasn’t able to eat or drink. I went up and helped her go onto a wheelchair after seeing her nod.

“Big sister Sarah, what are we having today?” She questioned.

“Hmm, Madam made the food today so I guess it’s a surprise?” I said with a gentle smile.

Nico reminded me of myself. I helped Nico recover using my hypnotism powers. It will relax her a bit if she slowly forgets the bad memories.

“...and now we have the popular, sexy, captivating MIMI!!!! After her debut, her popularity boomed! However, due to some circumstances Mimi disappeared from the entertainment business for a few years. Now give a wonderful applause that she is back and she is giving us a new album as well as movie!” The television’s static noise was heard in the middle of breakfast. I looked over to the screen.

A beautiful black haired, large eyed, woman stood in front of the crowd. This was a live show. Mimi isn’t hard to find, just hard to approach.

“Thank you for everyone’s support. I wouldn’t have made it here today if it weren’t for my fans. I’ll dedicate this song for the ones who have someone in their hearts.” Mimi said with that fake smile.

As if noticing my mood, Nico changed the channel to something she’d watched every morning.

A manager was sent today. I looked up towards the huge bald man that looked more like a bouncer with his tuxedo and sunglasses.

‘Really?’

“...” I was silent as I stared at him from the doorway.

“...” He wasn’t much of a talker either.

He held out a stack of papers that were stapled together somehow. I took a look at it and saw that it was filled with schedules that apparently the company organized together. It was all for singing and there were some music videos as well as musicals.

WMW Entertainment seems to know what my strengths are perfectly. Hmm? There’s a goal for each job as well.

“Try and captivate the elder people in the audience. Try and convince people to donate XX amount. Try and…..” I get depressed the more I read.

“What is this all about?” I questioned the bodyguard--- I mean my manager.

“WMW knows your power is related to hypnotism or something along the lines of decreasing people’s wary. We have high hopes for you to become a top star.”

“What does these things have to do with becoming a “top star”?”

“These people actually holds most of the powers in the government. Also, money makes the world go ‘round.” He replied robotically.

I gave out a long sigh. This manager think he’s the terminator or something? Fine. I’ll follow what they want for now. I need more information anyway.

***Hydee’s POV***

After explaining to Sarah about the things I returned to the orphanage where I grew up. As I walked inside all of the children were already asleep. I head straight to the head’s room.

Click.

A lady looking to be around mid twenties was writing something on her wooden desk. She dressed very plainly and had a pair of glasses on her face.

“Master,” I reported, “I have done what you instructed.”

“Did you tell her I was “Lucy”?” A soft gentle voice was heard. However, I know full well how scary the owner of this voice was.

“Yes.” I replied, “I don’t understand why you are using this name?”

“Hmm..” I can sense her smiling even with her back towards me.

“Sarah…..hmmm Sarah. Not an unusual name. Somehow, it is interesting.” Master said mysteriously.

I am confused with what master said. She turned around on her chair and looked towards me. I quickly lowered my head. I can sense her looking at me as if she’s peering into my soul.

“No worries, Hydee. Soon you will know the role in which you play in all of this.” Master said.

“I understand.”

“You may leave now.” Master said as she turned around again to continue writing something.

I left the room and head down towards the basement. I then tapped on the wall to reveal a hidden door. I entered after having it scanning myself. I continued to walk down until I reached the underground city. It’s a beast’s city; despite calling it “city” it’s actually pretty small.

Even though I said beasts don’t have cities. There is one right here. Well not everyone has the right to be in here. I was only able to gain that right recently and that is when I was lucky enough to know one of the owners of this place.

I head straight for a large wooden building in the center. It was a place similar to a tavern in the olden days of those humans.

“Hey Miss, what would you like?” The man operating asked me.

I pulled out a list and handed it over the counter, “I need information on these people.”
