I watched the large creature as it slowly made its way towards us. It was about a mile out when I could finally get a real look at it. It was monstrous, a solid fifty feet across and seventy feet long as well as completely aflame. It was a phoenix.

The phoenix came closer and closer. Right as it got close enough for us to attack it turned around and headed back the way it came. That was odd. I could swear I could make out a figure riding on top of it.

Knowing I couldn’t catch up to it I shrug my shoulders and turn to the citizens from the dungeon that are next to me.

“Everyone if I could have your attention please.” I shout.

They all stopped talking and turned to me. The mayor was there and he spoke up. “What do you need Zach?”

I cleared my throat. “I Was thinking that we need to set up a town. We are in uncharted territory now. This is Earth, my home planet, and we have no idea how much things have changed. After all it has been a year and a half since I was here.”

A couple people mumbled in agreement but the mayor surprised me by his questions. “Why? We just got out of the dungeon and while we are extremely grateful for that I just don’t see the reason to set up here. Why should we follow what you say?”

Fair point I guess. “You don’t need to follow me if you don’t want to. I just think that this area is a perfect spot. We’re in a large field surrounded by forests. This gives us plenty of room to start a farm to grow food and we will have plenty of room leftover to build a city. We can set up a lumber mill for processing wood and there’s even a mountain over there that might have ore in it. I just think that this is our best option. If you don’t want to stay here then you are free to leave but I am starting my settlement here. Makes no difference to me.”

After I finished half of the group leaves including the mayor. I couldn’t blame them really, being stuck in that dungeon for so long would truly be terrible. As they are walking away I shout to them. “You are welcome to come back at any time!” After that I turn back to those that stayed and see a solid two hundred people left. Huh thought there would be more than that.

Cas walks up to me. “So now what Zach?”

I ponder for a moment before answering. “Well I think we should start with some basic houses. Then go from there.” She nods as I turn to the rest of my loyal subjects, I mean friends. “Ok we are going to start building houses first. If you have any type of woodworking skill then let’s go and gather wood for our houses. I will also need a group go and search for water. I have enough food for all of us for the next five days so we can work out what we are going to do after that.”

They nod and soon a fourth of our group heads off to search for water while the rest of us go and gather wood. As we were headed to the forest near us a large notification popped up.

Notice! We, the Gods, have noticed that the way the universe was working has quickly become broken thanks to the Humans that rejoined the universe. We are changing the system to balance it out. The new tables below will provide more information.

The level of people and monsters has now changed to an alphabetical designation with Level still attached. The beginning designation is at G all the way up to SSS. The way this is calculated is having the total Stat points as well as the level added up and divided by seven. Designation G starts out at 0 and goes up to 25. Each level after that requires double of the previous level.

Strength now determines how much you can carry. Carrying amount is Str times ten. Dexterity now determines how fast you can run. Speed is determined by every 10 points in Dex increases speed by .5 miles per hour or MPH.

Attack and Defence have now been changed to alphabetical designation only for people as well as weapons and armor. Base attack will start out as G and go up to SSS in intervals of 100 in the strength stat. The designation will be the average of all the designations put together. It will start at G- and go all the way up to SSS. Strength and Vitality will be combined and averaged for the base defence going in intervals of fifty From G to SSS.

Active Skills have now been greatly reduced in power. Read Skill list to know more. Max level has been set at 100 with intervals in between. Skills will start at Beginner and at skill level 25 you will become a Novice, 50 a Apprentice, 75 Adept and 100 Master. These tiers will add additional bonuses. Passive skills have stayed the same.

Damage will now be done according to this formula. If Attack designation is higher than Defense designation then 1,000 points of Damage will be done for every level in between. If defense is equal to or Higher than Attack the damage done is 0.

Now go and become Gods!

This notice from the gods was crazy! That is a huge change to throw on people. A lot of people were going to be at a lower status than they should be.

Wait. That is brilliant! People will never know how truly strong you are anymore! It’s like those sleeper cars back when earth still had technology. You would never know the car could go from zero to a hundred in three seconds.

I closed the notice and see that everyone is now looking at their status screens. Oddly no one is freaking out. I figure I might as well look at all my stuff as well.

Ok that doesn’t look too bad. Not much has changed I guess. I have to say that I am glad I have my new gear otherwise I would totally be weak as hell. Now onto the skill descriptions.

Identify-Level 56 49/100 Apprentice- You can now see more information about anything you view. Identify has become an integral part of you life and is constantly used. Identify can no longer be detected.

One with the Blade-Level 45 79/100 Novice- By becoming one with your blade your attack now resists the winds and laws of the universe as you fight. Increases Movement of blade by 1% for each level. Current percentage 45%

Heavy Armor-Level 35 72/100 Novice- By having a large amount of strength you are able to wear and specialize in heavy armor. Defense is increased by one designation to a max top of SSS by every 25 levels of the skill.

Unarmed Combatant -Level 15 14/100 Beginner- By finding a teacher for your unarmed is increased by one designation to a max top of SSS by every 25 levels of the skill.

Dual Wield-Level 50 79/100 Apprentice- Allows for the use of a weapon in both hands. Attack is increased by one designation to a max top of SSS by every 25 levels of the skill.

Titan Grip-Level 60 90/100 Apprentice- The strength of your hands prevent you from dropping a weapon. Each level increases the weight of the item that you can hold. Current weight 3,000 pounds.

Ok so definitely more balanced now. Although some of the names did change it doesn’t matter I guess.

Cas walks up to me. “Everything good?” She asks.

I nod and decide to Identify her to see what it says.

Shit she’s way stronger than me. Wait what about everyone else? I turn and start Identifying everyone and see that they are all between B and S. Same with the attacks and defenses.

I sigh and ready myself for a long journey. The journey to the top that is. Call me what you will but I firmly believe that I should be the strong one in the relationship. She just need to be squishy and adorable and she is damn good at that.

“Alright everyone let’s get back to business. We need plenty of wood for our homes. I will be honest with you. I want to build an empire! I want us to grow and control everything! I want it to be fair in everything! I have high hopes and I know that this is sudden but I want to push forward. I refuse to sit down and let monsters or anything else control us. If this is too much then let me know.” Lame speech but it was the best I got.

I figure that being honest at all times is the best option and that seems to be right since all the people had heard me and even seemed excited. Cas’s dad is just looking at me like I’ve gone crazy, he did have a slight smile on his face though. We went and started cutting down trees. I used an axe that someone had brought.

After I cut down three trees we called it good. We had a little over three hundred trees to use in making our houses. I grab two of the trees I had cut and and haul them into the middle of the field running as fast as I could. The good thing about the adages to Str and Dex was that I could reach top speed as long as I didn’t go over the weight limit.

I run back and grab the last tree as everyone else brings their trees to the centre. We gather around the trees and wait for the others to get back with some water. We didn’t have to wait long. They came back with smiles on their faces.

An older woman came up to me, her name was Martha. Yea Identify is on constantly now so she popped up. Oh yea shes at S level as well. Ugh!

“We found a river that leads right to a lake about thirty minutes from here. Come we should build near the water. We saw many large water creatures that we can use as food as well.” She reported.

“Sweat! Alright let’s move base.” I shout.

I was able to grab the tops of two trees in one hand and the other in my other hand. Sadly it was over my weight limit so I had to walk. On the bright side it really was a thirty minute walk.

The field we were in had a random patch of trees off in the distance that was not close enough to quickly grab some wood so we had gone to the forest that was closer. These trees had hidden a great big lake the had a nice river running into it. It was in the perfect spot to start a city.

We laid the logs down about a hundred feet away from the lake and gathered up to decide how we were going to create an empire. Well I hope an empire.

Martha speaks up first. “Now what are we gonna do and who is going to lead us. Keep in mind that an empire has a royalty to it. So who do we want as our king?”

I chose this moment to not say a fuking thing. Smart right? Yea it is.

I waited as everyone started arguing about it, some had started shouting while others just mumbled their opinions. After five minutes of this I had had enough. “Stop!” I shouted.

“Listen this is really important and we need to all agree on it ok? So how about we start building first and then we decide later. We can sleep on it tonight and decide tomorrow. So let’s just start our houses already.” I hope they follow me on this. I hate arguing like they were.

Everyone quickly calms down and starts to go to the logs to split them up into boards. You could occasionally hear a grumble from someone but for the most part they just busied themselves with work.

Now the trees that we had cut down were huge but super light. The wood was very porous and still super strong. They split easily and made great boards. Cas and I tackled the three trees I had cut down making enough boards for two houses at least. I realized that we had nothing for a roof and I really wanted something good for the roof.

Lucky for us about ten of the people in our group were master crafters and set up a kiln and started making shingles for the roofs. We made an easy twenty by twenty foot house so that we had plenty of room for us and Fluffy. The master crafters had enough shingles made for everyone in about three hours and we all had a roof over our heads just as the sun went down.

Cas and I hang up a door on the front and the three of us head inside to go to bed. I had distributed food to everyone earlier but Cas and I have yet to eat. Cas sets up a small fire to heat some water and make a quick soup. While she’s doing that I pull out a bunch of pelts that I have cured to use as blankets.

After a simple dinner we lay down and go to bed, both of us too tired for and “fun time”. It took me awhile to go to sleep since all I could think of was the next day and who would become our new King or Queen.

The next day came quick as the sun woke me up by shining through the windows we had put in the walls. I could hear others start to wake up as well so I lightly shake Cas awake. She mumbles something I can’t quite comprehend so I shake her some more.

“If you keep shaking me I will kill you.” She says.

In my infinite wisdom I quickly get out of bed and start up breakfast. The smells of bacon fat sizzling was what woke Cas up and luckily she has a smile on her face. We quickly eat and Cas apologizes for being “hangry”.

I chuckle a little as we go outside. Seems like girls are the same everywhere, feed em and they will practically roll over for you. The rest of the people were already outside and waiting for us to appear. As soon as we join them Martha speaks up.

“We have decided to do this by random. We have three people that we have chosen collectively and that is Robash, Zach and myself. We will use the random number generator to get a random number from one to one hundred and whoever gets the highest number will be the King or Queen. Are you ready?”

Attention! You have entered into a gamble to decide the fate of your group. The gamble will be a simple random number game from 1 to 100. The only thing that can and will affect this random roll will be the Luck stat. Good luck and have fun!

I have a feeling that I will win this. We all say “Yes” at the same time and a window pops up for everyone to see.

The game is over! The numbers are in and the winner is…. Zach. the random numbers are as follows. Robash-89, Martha-98 and Zach-99 just barely getting enough to win!

Everyone was able to see the window but no one complained about it. Many people congratulated me but it was Robash that made it final. He walked up to me and simply asked “What now my king?”

Immediately a notice pops up.

You have been crowned King! Treat your people well.

New quest! By being crowned King you now have a responsibility to your people. Designate an area for your castle and build your kingdom.

Requirements: Lay down the corner stone of your kingdom and secure resources.

Time Limit: 1 Day.

Rewards: Exp and random item.

Great now I can start my world domination! muwahahahahaha!
