《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Chapter 23

Hisoka and his two companions made their way to the Polaris to move back to Zulich. He briefly instructed Misumi on how to operate the 240 to which she caught on quickly. After observing her load the weapon properly he gave a nod of approval and set it into the driver's seat. He smiled as he felt the engine come to life, feeling the power at his fingertips. He hit the pedal and smiled with glee as the vehicle rocketed down the dirt road.
Anyone who happened to cross paths with this would be bewildered by the fast-moving mode of transport and the three occupants with their odd outfits. In fact, the few refugees and townsfolk they saw looked on with wide eyes as they sped out of town. Hisoka could see Aki smiling at the high-speed ride, while Misumi sat stoically at the 240 ready to blow apart any obstacle.
Hisoka vaguely remembered the way back, and after all, there were only a couple of turns to remember so it shouldn't be a problem. He kept his eyes on the road and enjoyed the ride, feeling the wheels roll over the uneven terrain unhindered, with the wind hitting his face over the half windshield.
They would have continued like that, had 2 large hideous beasts not appeared before them. The grotesque monsters were roughly two times the size of a bear and appeared to be made up of human muscle and tissue randomly fixed together. Its teeth were made up of shattered jagged finger bones, and its claws could only be formed from a long bone splintered into pieces. The abominations seemed to be chasing after a very poorly armed group of refugees.
Hisoka floored it towards the creatures and looked up at Misumi on the gun. She gave him a look of strong resolve in return, and Hisoka continued to drive onwards. Aki leveled the M110 resting it on the half windshield taking aim at the creatures. Truthfully, Hisoka wasn't sure just what to shoot on the bastards. They weren't gifted the time to mull over it, as a child stumbled whilst running. He saw what must have been the young boy's sister calls out to him and run towards him, and the demonic things that were rapidly closing.
"Fuck it," Hisoka muttered under his breath increasing the speed of the roughly 4-ton vehicle.
"Misumi fire!" he yelled over the roar of the engine as he continued to floor it towards the closest creature.
Misumi swiftly having already aimed the weapon, rapidly firing the large rounds at the lumbering flesh giants. The loud repetitive Ra-ta-ta-ta resounded as the hog of a weapon suppressed the large easy target. Hisoka never bothered to teach her about short bursts, so she merely kept the weapon trained on target and held the trigger.

Gruesome chunks of flesh and densely packed muscle flew with bloody spray after each round punched through its soft meaty body. The creatures were momentarily stunned by the onslaught and turned their attention clumsily to the oncoming threat. After assuring that the children had resumed running for safety Hisoka barreled the car into the weakened creature. It let out an inhuman shriek as the 4-ton vehicle slammed into it, liquifying it's flesh as the tires ground their way over it. Hisoka swiftly reversed the car as the other creature roared and charged towards them.
When the firing of the 240 ceased for a reload, Multiple cracks were heard as Aki trained her rifle with the skill of a marksman and fired into what they perceived to be its head. Cerebral matter and chunks of brain tissue blew from its head, yet instead of dying, it became far clumsier. Unfortunately, it seemed the brain matter stuffed into its blob-like head only functioned to increase it's processing power, per se.
With one of the creatures having it's lower body squished into the dirt road, and the other blindly stumbling about, Hisoka stopped the vehicle a safe 150 meters or so and dismounted. Misumi remained in the gunner's seat pouring rounds at the things, while Hisoka raised his auto rifle.
The cacophony of 7.62, 6.5, and 6.8x51mm fire filled the air as round after round was slung at the abominations. The damn things were tanky and ate up bullets until they were so pounded that they were sawed apart by fire. Hisoka returned his rifle to low-ready with Aki following his example. The two things had ceased movement after receiving the brunt of 3 7.62 boxes along with 6 spear mags and 5 6.5 mags.
"What the actual fuck," Hisoka muttered in an exasperated voice.
The three of them spent a few moments in silence observing the meaty pulp that layered the road.
"Either of you has a clue what the hell those were?"
The blank stares of his two companions were the only answers he received.
Misumi finally spoke up, "I have never heard of anything like those, the only thing that comes to mind is a manipulator of the dead. A being that can take corpses and rearrange them into monsters," she stopped to think for a moment, "this might even be the 'creature of higher intelligence' we were warned of."
"Shit, if this is what it's really capable we are going to need to prepare better. I was naive to think that a standard combat load would cut it," he then whispered to himself, "Perhaps I've underestimated this world slightly."

"Did you say something?" asked Aki.
"Ah nothing no."
The ammo expenditure was unacceptable for their current supply base. He needed to stock up on ammunition properly or they'd be caught with their pants down once more. One thing came to mind for Hisoka, that being the disposable launchers. If he could get a launcher that had the right properties and yield, he could likely destroy those things with a single tube. of course, there was the logistics. He had yet to try and summon one, meaning he didn't have a clue the mechanism the system would use to give it to him.
Depending on the logistics, the M141 BDM disposable bunker-buster launcher would easily tear apart those abominations, and likely larger targets of that nature. It is a weapon based on the USMC SMAW launcher that looks like a much larger AT4. A weapon meant for demolishing fortified buildings, it most certainly had the power to topple these nightmarish creatures.
The current problem was Hisoka's lack of ability use for the rest of the day. With only one weapon left to summon and drained MP, he was powerless to reconfigure their dwindling logistics. Unfortunate as it may be, the best course of action, for the time being, was to hunker down and resupply. He was now regretting leaving the town, but they were halfway to Zulich, and gas wasn't free.
Hisoka sighed at the prospect of waiting around for the remainder of the day and sleeping in the car, but after relocating the car to be hidden in a small outcropping of trees, he hunkered down for the wait.

After a shitty night's sleep and guard rotation, a new day finally dawned allowing Hisoka new opportunities. The previous night Hisoka had decided to blow his remaining weapon summon to perform a test; he decided to try and summon a launcher. Whenever he summoned a weapon it came stocked with 3 magazines, so by that logic, he hoped that the disposable would be just fine to summon. He hadn't seen anything about MP cost for the launchers, and disposables aren't meant to be reloaded in the first place. With that logic the prior night he had successfully summoned a single M141.
This morning he hoped to have enough MP to gather necessary materials to make their way back to Zulich. He had 152 MP to spend, and a lack of ammunition to mend. 150 MP later and all of the rifle magazines were restocked with 40 extra 6.8x51 cartridges and 40 extra 6.5s. To top it off he summoned 2 more M240L GPMGs for the ammo, and 2 extra M141s for if everything went bad. Having stowed the necessary equipment Hisoka had the girls mount up after redistributing ammo. Hisoka and Misumi carried 12 mags each with 1 extra, and Aki had her full 15 mags. The group once again hit the road.
This time without obstructions they arrived at a decent distance from Zulich. Driving the car straight in right away eliminated any chance of scouting so they parked the car and grabbed the 240 boxes. Without a word, the 3 checked their respective loadouts to ensure everything was ready at a moment's notice.
They proceeded to trek the distance cautiously to the outskirts of town to find a point of overwatch. Upon arriving at the far outskirts, they found a small hill they could duck behind to observe. After stealthily moving over they peeked ever so slightly above the hill. The town was full of grotesque monstrosities even more gruesome than the two they met earlier. Thankfully the majority seemed to be human-sized walking flesh piles, while a few were as large as the two on the road, with one being even larger. The creatures mulled about in what seemed like patrols around a building that had been patched up since the undead horde. Seeing as no one had been in this town since the evacuation, something was up.
The patrols in question were sloppy and random, without any solid structure or coordinated movements. The smaller creatures mulled about around the building in ragged formations walking circles around it. The monstrous towering flesh piles loomed above the roofs of remaining structures to watch the area, though it seemed they lacked eyes. It was quite the gruesome scene observing all the loosely assembled piles of misformed flesh of varying sizes mull about the village.
With the information gathered the course of action was simple; return for the vehicle and it's mounted gun before returning to the town to exterminate the things and hopefully kill the creator of the unholy entities. While most people would be nervous leading up to such endeavor, Hisoka was excited to get to test some new toys.

The Rocky Shore
This is a LitRPG series. Every story you read here takes place in the same virtual world, with the same rules and limitations. Characters will travel, explore vast and dangerous realms, overcome obstacles, meet one another, enter into conflicts with one another, forge alliances, make horrible mistakes, and occasionally just die. A technological singularity has been achieved, and humanity has been trapped in a virtual world by a super-intelligent, self-improving artificial intelligence. This program is not malicious at all. In fact, it desires nothing except the happiness and fulfillment of every human it has copied into itself. If its decisions seem strange to you, that's only because its reasoning is far beyond ours. It recognizes that humans cannot be happy without enemies to overcome and goals to achieve, as well as the possibility of failure and death. The world it has created may be heaven or hell, depending on the free choices of the people it contains. The non-player characters who live in this realm have no idea that they are part of a vast computer system. They seem real enough, but there is no way to tell if they are truly self-aware. Even the system that created them isn't certain. This is world in which all the things that humans are used to dealing with in the abstract: skills, talents, knowledge, reputation, social status, morality, even love, exist as readable statistics that players can see and interact with objectively. This has many curious and complex effects on how people perceive themselves and the world around them. A few quick notes on the system: -Death is permanent -The system interface can only be accessed at certain locations. -Magic of diverse kinds is available and useful, but is not a good substitute for skills, physicallity, or mental prowess. Non-magical characters are common and competitive. -There is no inventory system. Characters must physically carry everything they wish to have on their person. -Healing is slow and difficult. Magical Healing is all but unheard of. Protagonists: Raymond Garrison- A man in his late twenties who used to work as a forklift operator in Idaho. His path leads him to work as a mercenary, protecting a small community of humans and goblins from the Seelie Fae who wish to exterminate them. Patricia Chandler- A elderly British woman who arrives in this new world with her grandson Kyle and her granddaughter Elizabeth. Never having dealt with rpg game mechanics before, she is in for a rough time, but she is determined to keep her grandkids alive in a world full of danger and evil. Jamil Mesbah- An Egyptian woman who once worked as a technical writer. Her path leads into a vast and hostile forest, where she must master both her magical abilities and her survival skills in order to succeed. Enjoy your travels, friends.
