《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Chapter 24

Three figures dressed in modern military garb made their way to a four-wheeled vehicle waiting for them. The two girls walked behind a man who led the wedge formation; a man with a devilish smile plastered on his face.
The man climbed his way into the gunner's seat to the large 7.62 machine gun in front of him. He scrutinized the weapon and checked for anything that may cause trouble in a firefight. Upon finishing his inspection He hopped out of the vehicle and looked towards the two women who were patiently waiting.
"Weapons check," Said the man.
The two girls quickly moved to assure all of their weapons were primed and ready to go, along with running over their ammunition supplies. The two women finished their inspection and gave a nod to the man who had just finished inspecting his kit.
"Alright, mount up," The man said hopping into the driver's seat.
The fox eared girl stoically took her position in the turret, while the eager-eyed girl sat in the passenger seat with her rifle resting on the half windshield ready to fire if need be. The man brought the engine to life and gunned it feeling the power of the vehicle.
~~~
Hisoka sat in the driver's seat keeping full attention to the route in front of him. Misumi stood in the gunner's position watching their front with complete focus. Aki sat rearing to go in her seat as the three sped into town.
"Contact front!" Hisoka shouted to the two girls.
Misshapen humanoid clumps of muscle and flesh were walking their patrol when they sensed the loud engine coming towards them. They appeared to be remnants from the undead army that were grotesquely strewn back together using remaining materials from the slaughtered horde. Ragged holes that were torn into their bodies were haphazardly filled in with more flesh to supplement the weakened structure of the bodies, though some of them had extra appendages or extremely misshapen form. The girls didn't have to be told twice to kill the abominations.
Misumi with a sharp eye and steady grip placed shots ripping down the creatures that tried to block their path. They went down from a few rounds of 6.5 to the upper chest. Red liquid so dark it was nearly black splattered from the exit wounds on the things. Chunks of flesh were being torn off; the putrid festering tissue being strewn on the terrain behind them. Misumi oriented the heavier gun and let loose strings of fire that mercilessly tore through the creatures, at times literally tearing them in half as their bodies made up of scavenged soft tissue were hammered by the large projectiles.
The small patrol of 5 or so creatures was quickly reduced to fleshy lumps decorating the grassy terrain. The loud noises gave the town a wakeup call as the creatures began to swarm to the source. One of the enormous lumbering masses began to move towards their car that was nearing the city at a fast pace. More small flesh beasts of various shapes and sizes moved as fast as they could towards the vehicle with the goal of tearing the 3 limb from limb.
Misumi swiveled the gun spraying through the crowd that pushed towards them. Those that were not mowed down by large projectiles bloodied the tires and underside of the vehicle as it pushed right over them unceasingly. They quickly made it to the hill they had previously observed the town from. They dismounted with Hisoka drawing a 240L and one of the disposables. He gathered a couple boxes to pair it with and handed the 22-pound short-barreled weapon to Misumi.
"Just like the mounted gun, but you have to work a little harder to control the recoil as it isn't a mounted weapon. You can lay down and use the bipod to put out accurate suppressive fire while mitigating recoil," He said briefly unflipping the Bipod for her.
Whether she used it or her rifle was her choice, and Hisoka couldn't do too much about it as there was a huge lumbering creature headed their way. He grabbed the other object that he retrieved from his pouch; one of the three M141 launchers.
He grabbed the weapon and calmly let his skill take control. He soon felt the operating procedure plant itself into his brains as muscle memory flowed through his limbs. He felt as if he'd been carrying one of these for years as the weapon felt more and more comfortable in his hands. He removed the locking pin and depressed the tube release while extending it to its full size. He carefully locked the tube in place before placing the weapon on his shoulder and pivoting to face the target properly. He then deployed the front and rear sights, as well as the shoulder stop, he was almost ready.
"GET OUT FROM BEHIND ME!" He yelled as he checked his backblast.
Neither of the girls understood the operating procedure so no "backblast clear" came. He carefully verified it with his own eyes before sighting in on the large creature's center. He felt the world slow down 10x or so as he depressed the safety button. His eyes locked in place down the sights planted on the target. With a slight bit of pressure on the trigger, the rocket ignited and leaped from the tube.
Hisoka traced the trajectory perfectly aided by the time slow, watching the socket spiral perfectly towards what he had aimed for. The warhead meant for taking on 8 inches of cement detonated against the large flesh-based target.
With a roar so loud it penetrated Hisoka's hearing protection, the looming giant was torn into pieces by the rocket. What flesh wasn't incinerated from the blast was blown outwards from the explosion, falling to the ground. With its entire center destroyed, it's limbs and remaining bits of torso flopped to the ground like a toy running out of batteries.
Hisoka couldn't suppress the smile that grew on his face seeing his wonderful new toy in action. It seemed the other two were staunchly defending the building they had observed earlier. Whilst he dispatched the creature Misumi had laid down on the ground and was firing rounds from the MMG. Hisoka couldn't let himself be left out of the fun, and brought one of the other M240Ls out along with the rest of the ammo. He left the ammo between the two as he went prone deploying the bipod.
Wielding this hog of an open bolt, Hisoka sighted in on the moronic creatures trying to make their way up the hill. He loaded a fresh box into the weapon (as all of the boxes had been siphoned for the mounted gun) and ensured it was good to go.
Hisoka accessed as little of his skill as possible as to keep his emotions this time around. He felt as if he had run through a crash course of the weapon and spent a couple of hours practicing it, which was more than enough. He leveled the weapon at oncoming creatures.
He couldn't help but remember a video bringing a smile to his face once more, "ABRACADABRA!" He shouted as he depressed the trigger letting out bursts into the enemies. Under the pressure of the two MMGs, the creatures were being slaughtered in droves. While they may be tanky, as they were still human-sized 7.62 was more than enough to give them a nice little dirt nap. The creatures spontaneously and uniformly turned tail and went back towards the building that the larget beasts were protecting as if receiving an order. They proceeded to flood into the structure as if to set up an ambush.
Hisoka had half a mind to vaporize the place with a launcher, but he'd only prepared enough to kill the larger beasts. On top of the two remaining towering creatures, there were a few of similar size to those they met on the road. Hisoka directed Misumi to focus fire on them after comp[leteting a reload. Luckily, those beasts were far slower than the humanoid ones, even more so when the cluster of brain tissue that made up a sort of "head" was destroyed.
The creatures were easier to dispatch with their weakness revealed, along with the large magnitude of 7.62 flying their way. Unfortunately, there appeared to be only 2 full boxes left. Hisoka's MMG ran dry as he contemplated that.
"Fuck, I'll leave the rest to you Misumi," Hisoka said to her. She nodded in response without taking her eyes off the sight picture.
Hisoka couldn't help but take a brief moment to observe the gorgeous woman dressed in flecktarn fatigues firing a 240, shit if that's not a wet dream what is?
Hisoka got his head back in the game, he could save those thoughts for later. Right now, there were two remaining towering abominations. He drew the 2 remaining unused launchers and prepped the first. After running through the operations he shouted, "BACKBLAST CLEAR!" before giving a check. He was relatively safe as the two of them each had their own fighting position next to him rather than behind, but negligence leads to tragedy. After completing the precautions and aiming with his skill, he experienced the rush of firing the launcher once more. The rocket raced out of the tube quickly colliding with the target resulting in a firework type explosion made up of torn flesh and smoke.
The other creature seemed to be mulling about, it couldn't attack but there was nothing it could use for cover. The deliberation far exceeded it's thinking capability. The thing began to move quickly towards Hisoka Hisoka truly got a good look at it, it walked on 5 legs that seemed to consist of human libs and torsos sewn together with excess flesh and muscle. Surprisingly it had a wide range of mobility even though it shouldn't be able to move in the first place.
Hisoka yelled to clear his backblast before manually checking once more.
[Shit, I definitely need to go over backblast clearing with the girls this is annoying.]
After performing that crucial step he depressed the safety, and subsequently the trigger sending a rocket hurtling towards it's intended target. The rocket hit it's marked perfectly to Hisoka's relief; after all, there were no second chances this time around.
He stored the 3 tubes in his bag intending to properly dispose of them later.
"Misumi! Pack it up and grab your rifle we are going to head in!" Hisoka yelled.
Misumi heard the order and stuffed the MMG into her bag transitioning to the Spear. The number of creatures left outside was very small and continuing to lower as they retreated into the building. The three of them executed as many as they could, but had no doubts it would be a melee inside. After treading over the grassy hill slick with blood and torn tissue, they made their way into the town. The building that was their target was only about a block in, but there were buildings lining both sides of the road.
"Stay sharp! We don't know what the hell their leader has cooked up."
The two girls nodded. Hisoka took point down the street. It was quiet, nothing but the sound of the wind running over the blood-stained paths. The buildings had blood splatter on them from the original undead army that managed to crush their defenses before all the occupants were exacuated. Hisoka saw corpses lining the streets, propped against walls, or forced into bak alley last stands. The only way to tell the difference between the attacker and receiver was that some of the attackers were literally made up solely of bone.
The first block was uneventful, just a tense walk through what was virtually a graveyard. They crossed an intersection that leads them into the second block cautiously. They walked past the first houses and made it to the second when doors in front of them opened. Hisoka raised his rifle immediately and watched as 10 flesh monsters poured from each house.
"Hisoka behind us!" Aki yelled.
Indeed they were stuck between two waves of enemies.
"Push forwards! If we don't move fast we're fucked!" Hisoka replied.
The enemies were danger close, causing Hisoka to empty his magazine on fully automatic. He swapped mags quickly and began to spray more. He kept up the pressure until he heard a yelp from behind him.
"Misumi!" Hisoka yelled as he turned around to see her being pelted with blows from the beings. Some of them even had jagged bones sticking out in places that were being used as weapons.
"Shit!" Hisoka yelled as the ones in front had made use of the distraction.
He clubbed one to the ground and executed it with 4 shots to what he supposed was a torso. There were only 5 left in front, but they were on top of him. He sprayed down 2 of them killing one before the 20 round magazine met its limit. He had no time to curse his luck, as he dropped the rifle to rest in its sling as he drew his combat knife and MK23. He knew the MK23 would empty even faster, but that little extra edge might just help.
He powered 4 rounds into the one closest, before plunging the blade into the soft fleshy exterior of another. His hand and the blade sunk into its soft exterior, easily covering his hand in blood. Hisoka was surprised but quickly ended it with the MK23.
[Five rounds left. Fuck I need to get to Misumu NOW.]
He drew the blade from the disgusting fleshy hole it had created and went for slashing attacks on the other one. It was greatly stunned by the edged weapon, leaving him the chance to blast it to the torso. He dumped the last 2 rounds into the remaining one before stabbing it. He managed to swap mags on the pistol extremely quickly before turning to help Misumi.
Aki was pinned forced to fend them off with her Sig, leaving the helpless Misumi alone. When he saw Misumi, blood was running down her face, as well as a deep stab wound in her abdomen.
"No no NO!" Hisoka raged firing the pistol into the monsters assaulting her. They loosened their grasp giving Hisoka a chance to force them away from his wounded companion. He activated his skill as fast as he could after pushing them away, feeling time blissfully slow. He had a moment to breathe, a moment to take action. He loaded the pistol and powered rounds towards the enemies. Of course, time wasn't actually slowed, however with his perception increased to such a high level, it might as well have been. He executed 2 of the creatures and stabbed his knife repeatedly as hard as he could into the remaining one.
Aki seemed to be making headway as she managed to get an opening for herself. She made full use of it to pressure the other 2 creatures into submission. After regaining her freedom she dumped her magazine into the remaining couple stragglers, executing them with a marksman's precision.
"MISUMI!" Hisoka yelled as he lept to her side. Her skin was growing pale and her eyes seemed completely vacant.
Hisoka was sent into a tailspin as he quickly raced to get her pulse. It was faint, extremely faint.
"No, no... FUCK! FUCK!" Hisoka explained trying to stop the bleeding with a sleeve he cut off of his uniform.
He suddenly remembered the healing potions, the sweet saving graces. They were only mid-tier, but it was that or letting her bleed out. There was no other option. He fumbled with his bag before finally producing the potion with shaking hands. He unpopped the cork and forced her to drink it.
Color returned to her skin yet her white skin was still paler than normal. The black and blue bruises layering her body faded away as if she had never received such a beating. All the shallow cuts were seamlessly closed, the skin seemingly stitching itself back together. The nasty wound on her abdomen seemed to have stopped bleeding, and slightly recovered though she would still need further treatment. She was however still unconscious due to the large blood loss. She was extremely lucky that the mid-tier potion was able to fix or temporarily mend all of her wounds.
Hisoka looked worriedly at her, the worry for her turning to cold, seething, humanity erasing burning rage toward whoever did this to her. He repossessed all the spear mags on her vest sticking them in the empty slots of his own.
"Aki, hole up in one of these buildings. I don't care how you do it or what means you must use, but protect her," Hisoka said in a chillingly cold voice, a tone that would unsettle a seasoned killer perhaps. A tone that gave away the rage that cooled his heart.
Aki caught on damn fast and nodded. She carefully Moved Misumi into one of the less war-torn buildings, disappearing from Hisoka's sight. Hisoka felt similar to how he felt with the skill active, only instead of all emotions, it was as if all humanity had left him, leaving a burning hatred filled with murderous intent in its wake. He wiped his bloody hands on his pants, before swapping a fresh magazine in the Spear. The MK23 sat ready at his hip, and his blood-stained knife sat in its sheath. He gazed at the building that was being defended most, with a clear intention of murder resonating around him.
