《Ley World-The Game》Chapter 18

Crouching behind a pillar, Jayson thought of what to do.
*There's 10 of them and they are all stronger than the previous ones. I'll try to use gravity strikes and hit the ones along the outside before pulling them to a center-point with gravity magic.*
Pulling out his sword and his light pistol, he moved forwards. He put two quick bullets into the nearest Wormin before running past it, leaving a deep cut along it's body.
As it's ear-splitting scream went off, Jayson began using Gravity Strikes. He would move forward at a hard to see speed slashing away at the outsides of the Wormins. While it wasn't doing too much damage, they were mostly all bleeding.
As he continued to circle them and hit them, one reared back and swung it's tail at him. He jumped sideways and dodged it easily, but he landed on a pile of blood.
Unable to keep his balance at his speed, he quickly fell to the ground.
As he picked his head up, he saw that 5 of the Wormins had charged at him.
*I can't dodge this normally.*
He repelled himself with magic watching as the Wormins collided into each other. One of them was unlucky and was hit by the other 4, killing it.
Before they could react, Jayson used magic to quickly double their weight. Watching his mana slowly trickle down, he charged forwards once more, hoping to get this over with quickly.
Since the 4 Wormins were slowed, he managed to shoot a few bullets into their mouths, quickly disposing of them. He had 5 left to kill. Looking around, he realized he was surrounded. Grabbing both of his swords, he began to charge up a few shots.
5 seconds later, the first one charged forward. Pointing both of his guns at it, he let the bullets fly.

Instead of normal shots like before, because he had charged them up, they were much deadlier. The downside was the cost also went up exponentially. Those two shots did 5x the normal damage, but cost 12x the normal mana to shoot.
Too bad for the Wormin, that those two were enough.
As the Wormin died, he started turning around.
*I'm dumb.*
He could do nothing but wait until the flying corpse of the Wormin slammed into him. he was sent careening down the wall, before coming to a stop against the wall.
He coughed up a bit of blood, and tried to stand up. Immediately he felt a sharp pain in his lower back.
*Shit, I may have broken a rib.*
Wiping the blood off his face, he began to bombard the Wormins in shots. Anywhere they went he would aim and shoot them. Before long, the other 4 had died too.
You have killed 10 Wormins Level 70ish. You are now level 24. You have 9 stat points to distribute.
*Really devs, 70ish? That's the best you could do? Damn.*
Sitting down, he began to finger his back trying to find where he broke something. Soon he found that his left bottom rib had a fracture. it didn't snap in half, but it was still a fracture.
*I'm going to keep going. I barely wasted 5% of my mana, and the hit only took 10% of my health. I just have to stop being so dumb about everything. I told myself before I began playing that I would be one of the strongest. And I will accomplish that even if I have to kill an entire planet to do it. Well maybe not, I'm not that coldblooded. At least I think.*
Getting up with a grin, he began jogging towards the next room. In a few minutes, he got there, completely short of breath.

*Ok, tip. Increase endurance.*
Waiting to get his breath back, he looked at who he would be fighting this time. In front of him were 5 Wormins. 4 of them were level 95. The other one was special. it was called a Mel Wormin. It was level 120 and almost 1.5x the size of the normal Wormins.
*Ok. The 4 level 95's should be easy enough. But that Mel Wormin will most likely be trouble.*
As he was thinking, he didn't notice that someone had come up behind him.
An arm went around his throat as a wet mat was pushed against his face. As he struggled, he slowly began to get drowsier before he finally collapsed. The person picked up his limp body before quickly running away from where he was.

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
