《I am a tree》Worship

That surprised me, it also seemed to be the same with the elves. Once the water gushed out and I grew, they stared at me for a while in silence. The leader looking guy called Stanford spoke up while standing in front of me. I learned Stanford's name while eavesdropping on their conversations, I heard other names too but I couldn't remember which one they belonged to.

"This divine tree has chosen us! It has blessed us and this land!"

Stanford... you have the makings of a cult leader. Well that's what I think it is, or these sorts of terms are normal here. The many elves who I counted to be 32 in number cheered. All of the 32 were at least adults, it would be strange if a child was brought here. The sun was setting so they started to finish up their work. Some elves cleaned up the edges of the lake, does that do something? Stanford gathered a few people, those people after having talked with him grabbed some metal buckets which were just cylinders hollowed out leaving the bottom. They went towards the new lake and filled their buckets up with water, afterwards they made their way to me. Arriving at my body, one by one they carefully circled around me pouring the water evenly, once their buckets were empty, they bowed down on their knees for a solid minute before getting up.

I am now a religious symbol, tremble before my holy powers... which I don't have. Honestly, I even thought I had super powers and attempted to do various things, they all failed. The only thing I could do was move my body which I will only do when they're asleep, they'll probably freak out if they saw a sapling unnaturally moving around. I'm getting pretty good with controlling it too, so much that it moves like it was a possessed tree from a horror film.

Day 12, the elves have been settling in here for seven days. On the first day, they had set up their tents and found a water source. The next day, they had planted seeds they took out from their logic-defying sacks. Using the knife attached to their waist, they made holes of the similar size in the outline of a large circle with me at the center. There was one section that they left alone, I'm assuming it's going to be the entrance in the future. Althought I don't know the directions, the entrance would be north of me, the lake on the west, and their settlement on the east.

Those days had passed peacefully... It did but... the seeds they planted have already reached their maturity. I know they watered it everyday with care and hardwork, the seeds numbered around thousands, still, isn't this a bit to fast? I had only grown four more feet and they grew to over twenty feet in five days? Could this possibly be a case of unequal treatment?! I never thought I would end up in a situation like this as a tree sapling... Well, after further thinkng, maybe I'm just a monster sapling that needs way to much nutrients.

The elves were confused by the sudden growth of trees too so this is obviously not normal. As always, the paranormal investigator Stanford came up with a...

"This is due to the blessing on the land!"

I'm starting to believe him too, but I can't let myself get tricked into a cult! Anyways, once I saw the grown trees, I noticed that half of them were normal trees and that the other half were fruit trees. I'm glad because now they won't starve and become cannibals, I won't lose the company I need. The elves cut down a few trees that didn't bear fruit then proccessed them into wooden planks. Apparently they have all sorts of tools... Using their knives once more, they mad several large square cuts into the ground about four inches deep then hollowed it out. They gathered all the soil from the holes to the south of me. After that, they placed several wooden planks into the square hole's until it was a snug fit, they made the holes wider of filled in the small gaps with soil when it didn't fit in snugly.

After three days of building houses, they finally finished with 10 all together. It was a basic sort of house with straight walls and a triangle rooftop, the door was some fabric they hanged above it, the window was the same. On the fabric were hooks that could be attached to a latch so it wouldn't always sway. The wooden planks were stuck together with a mysterious adhesive, it bonded the wood together in a few minutes without leaving a mess. This world is much more strange and advanced than I thought... the strange part is that the elves could build 10 houses that were around 60 feet in width and length with 10 feet in height all in three days. I wish I had that much stamina, but now I have infinite awareness! So glad I didn't go crazy from solitary, close call seriously.

Another thing I noticed during those three days were that I didn't have any growth, there was the daily offering of water everyday but nothing changed. The only thing that changed were that the trees stopped growing. The elves didn't plant anymore seeds into the ground, it's probably because they planted way to much since they didn't expect the rate of growth. If I assume that I stopped growing once the trees stopped growing... then my growth depends on the land development.

I can only guess that any development that's nature-like helps me grow. When they formed the lake, I grew two feet, then when they planted thousands of seeds, I grew around four feet. The house development didn't make me grow so that's why I decided only nature-like things could make me grow, I have a few vague ideas on it, but it's still confusing. The elves who saw that my growth stopped were also discussing about it.

"Why has the divine tree stopped growing?"

"Have we done something to anger it?"

"Were we abandoned by the heavens?"

Many questions like those were made in concern. The elves had a firm belief that I was the reason this land prospered so much. In truth, I'm probably preventing it from prospering more by absorbing all the nutrients! That could explain why beyond the hill was a barren land. I wish I could tell them my theory, but I couldn't speak, so I decided to use movements to convery yes or no answers while the elves randomly question me. As I was about to start moving, Stanford, the prodigy spoke up.

"Let us all think about why the divine tree has grown. The tree has grown when Ally had found the lake! After that, it had continued to grow but then suddenly stopped. When was it that it stopped?"

Stanford questioned his fellow elves. So the girl who used the dowsing rods was called Ally. I repeatedly say her name while looking at her black hair and emerald eyes, I don't do the same with her chest because it'd be rude if you remembered a girl by her breasts. While I was forcing the information into my head, one elf responded to Stanford.

"It had stopped the day the trees had matured?"

He ended his answer in a question because he was confused about it. However, Stanford...

"Exactly! If we connect the points, the divine tree grew when we developed the nature of it's land!"

Murmurs of agreement arose from the people, it made sense to them when he gave out the possibility. Is he a genius? No, eventually someone would have connected the points, even I had realized it just a few moments ago. Stanford may just be faster at thinking than others. With his deduction finished, Stanford tightened the rope.

"The divine tree has given us so much! What have we given the divine tree?! It gave us a new life, we only gave it some growth! It had not abandoned us even when we stopped helping it grow, now let us repent for our mistakes and help our savior the divine tree grow! Glory to the divine tree!"

""Glory to the divine tree!""

The other elves listen to their charismatic leader and cheer for my glory. Uh... I don't think I've done that much though, Stanford, are you taking advantage of their faith?! Is this how religion is started? I'm still a sapling you know, just a oddly large one. Well, I guess I don't need to stop this? My goal is growing into a comically huge tree after all. I'll just let it be...
