《Don't Forget Me-Matthew Espinosa》Chapter 13

All I see are lines.

Up and down.

Up and down.

The screen telling me she's still alive.

Karlie's leukemia is getting worse.

She's at the point where she's lost almost all her hair.

Doctors say they haven't seen it progress as fast as hers, but now they have.

Her little chest moving from her lungs inhaling and exhaling oxygen.

She's in her room, sleeping, in her bed.

She fell asleep not too long ago.

All I'm doing is sitting right next to her watching.

Watching the way her chest moves when she sleeps.

Or how she randomly smiles, even though she's sleeping.

I love all the little things about her, and I pray that the Lord let's her live so that the world may also see her little things.

*Beep* *Beep*

Shit!

We have school today.

I just threw on sweats, grabbed my bag and left. Not caring what time I will arrive, early or late.

"Good morning." My mom said.

I look at her, and walked out the door.

I'm walking to school, with my hood up, and my hands in my pockets.

******

I walked through the doors of hell and could immediately smell the evil.

I walked straight to my locker, making sure to keep my head facing the floor, not making eye contact.

While walking, I bumped into a few people who gave me dirty looks that I just ignored.

I went straight to my locker, grabbed my books and headed to Mrs. Lopez ' class.

I walk through the door and, of course, McKenna is sitting, right there, in her usual spot. So, I dodge her by sitting on the opposite side of the classroom.

I saw out of the corner of my eye looking at me, but I just ignored her. I'm so sick of living like this. Sometimes I wish I wasn't here anymore, and all my worries could be taken away in an instant.

"Matthew,", Mrs. Lopez exclaimed, "pay attention!"

At that moment, the whole class turned back their heads and looked.

The old me would say something, but the old me isn't here anymore.

I just slumped down in my seat, and pulled my hood over my head even more.

After a minutes the bell went off, my cue to leave.

I grabbed my things and practically ran out the class before everyone else, but someone had to stop me.

"Matthew!"

Great!

I just ignore her.

"What's been up with you lately?"

I shrug.

" If you need someone to talk to I'm always here." She smiled.

I just nodded, and turned to walk out the door. Just as walked out she yelled, "And take off your hood in the building!"

I ignored her request and kept walking to my class.

******

I grabbed an apple in the lunch line and went to pay for it.

"50 cents please." The lunch lady politely asked.

I digged in my pocket and handed her whatever I had and walked away without my change.

I headed for the guys bathroom.

I got there and went into my usual stall.

This is my normal eating spot and has been for awhile now. No need for me to get picked on sitting at a table in the back of the lunch room.

I like it here anyways.

Peaceful.

Somewhat clean.

And best of all,

Alone.
