《Bloodthirsty(KNJ)》20. A Life Changing Surprise.

Soha and Nari exchanged a look, Jimin and Taehyung looked baffled, Jongin and Sehun had triumphant smiles. Yoongi was silent and expressionless. That wasn't anything new...

"Say that again?" Nari said.

"We have a witness," Ji Ho repeated.

"Yasss!" Nari exclaimed with a fist in the air.

They started getting all excited until Kyungsoo interrupted "but she is passed out at the hospital since yesterday."

There was silence and everyone was looking down all of a sudden.

"Hello everyone!!"

They all turned to see Hoseok walk in with a bright smile. Nari rolled her eyes and stood up.

"Where are you going?" Soha asked.

"At the hospital, I'll wait until she wakes up."

"What if she wakes up at-"

"I don't care, I'll wait."

"Okay, then I'll come with you."

"Me too!"

Nari ended up going to the hospital with Soha and Ji Ho. The young girl was still passed out and she looked very pale. Other than that, she looked fine.

Her mother kept crying and thanking the gods for returning her child safely. Nari tried to interview her, but she was too emotional to even form a sentence. So all they could do was wait.

"I really hope she'll remember the culprit's face at least."

"We all do. Honestly, I've had enough of this case. I'm ready to take another one." Ji Ho said with a sigh.

"You and me both. After we catch the a**hole, I'm going on vacation. No, actually on baecation." Soha added. Then she had a small laugh.

"Yeah, I wouldn't be so sure. Your bae will have a lot of work after the case. It's not a small case after all."

"Yeah, whatever. How about you? What are your plans?"

Nari thought about it for a moment before giving her an answer.

"Everyone says that this case changed me. I want to find my old self again."

"By everyone you mean... him?" Soha joked as she wiggled her eyebrows.

Nari laughed.

"Jungkook said the same thing too. And I haven't felt myself for a while now either."

"Aww you'll be fine don't worry."

"Everything will be fine, you're even getting married soon." Ji Ho added.

She smiled at them and took a look at her watch. They'd been there for over an hour now and she was already getting impatient. She needed something to do while they were waiting. She took out her phone and texted Namjoon even though she knew he was busy. When he didn't answer, she decided to text Jungkook who answered right away.

Nari: what are you doing?

Baby Kookie😘: working. Are you still waiting for your witness to wake up?

Nari: Yep, and it's getting boring.

Baby Kookie😘: just come back, then.

Nari: I want to be the first person to talk to her when she wakes up.

Baby Kookie😘: 🙄

Nari: 😅

Baby Kookie😘: noona I have a question.

Nari: go ahead, baby.

Baby Kookie😘: don't call me that 😡. Anyway... okay this is going to be a bit long. Let's say you're really in love with someone, and they are hiding something from you. You have the means to uncover the truth, but you're scared of what you might find out. What would you do?

Nari read the text over and over again, then thought about it for a moment. She knew exactly what she might have done, but the real question here was: JUNGKOOK IS IN LOVE?

When? How? Who?

But she decided she wouldn't ask questions now. They'd catch up later.

Nari: if Namjoon was hiding anything from me, I would want to know. If he wouldn't tell me himself, then I'd definitely use any means I have to uncover the truth. You never know, I might be able to help him.

He took a few minutes to answer this time.

Baby Kookie😘: It's still scary though. The truth can be too heavy to bear...

Nari was pondering on what Jungkook had just said when Soha suddenly grabbed her arm.

"Nari, we need to go."

"What? Why?"

"It's an emergency. Come on, let's go!"

Ji Ho was watching them and looked lost. Soha looked distressed, as if in a life or death situation. Nari was so confused, she didn't know what to say. She ran her fingers through her curly hair.

"Soha, you don't seem to understand. We are on important business right now."

"Yeah, but we don't know when she'll wake up. Plus, we can leave Ji Ho here. He'll talk to her as soon as she wakes."

"But I want to be the one to talk to her first!"

"Don't you trust him?"

There was a silence and Nari turned to Ji Ho. He smiled and nodded. She frowned and looked back at Soha.

"What's really going on, here?"

"You'll know if you follow me, Nari.

She didn't have time to answer that because Soha's phone rang. She walked away before picking up. She exchanged a few words with whoever was at the other end of the line and hung up before coming back to Nari.

"Who was that?"

"Yoongi, he was asking about the girl. So you're really not leaving?"

"I'm going to wait here until our witness wakes up. I won't repeat myself!"

"Okay, madam!" Soha said with an eye roll before taking a seat. She typed something on her phone and put it away.

A few minutes passed and Nari was lost in her thoughts, not paying attention to anything around her. She was starting to get scared for no damn reason. What was the worse that could happen, really? Them knowing the culprit? Her life being in danger? Well, in this line of work her life was constantly in danger and she was used to it. But what about the people she loved? What if he attacked them?

She thought about the letter he had left her on the last body they discovered and shuddered. No, he wouldn't. Everyone was safe, and she would catch the bastard before that changed. Of course, she would. Though something was still bothering her about that letter. What did he mean by "I'll focus on my target"? Who was that target? Her?

No, it didn't make sense. He'd had so many opportunities to kill her, but he didn't. So who was it, then? She thought about everything that had happened so far and all the clues. And the things they'd discovered lately... Who else could he target beside her? She was the only person he contacted directly, except maybe Namjoon.

Wait a minute.

Could he really be targeting Namjoon? What for?! There was no way that was the case.

Or was it?

"Nari!"

She looked up and her eyes grew so big at the sight of the young woman that they could have fallen off.

"Mimi?!!? What are you-"

"It's Joonie," Mimi said in a panicked voice. Nari paled and got on her feet so quickly that she almost knocked out the other girl. She had forgotten how to breathe and her heartbeat had considerably increased. She held Mimi by her arms a bit too roughly.

"What about Joonie?"

"You need to come with me now!"

"What happened?"

"We're wasting time!" Mimi cried out.

Nari turned to her colleagues but Soha nodded without saying a word. She understood, Nari thought, as she nodded back before turning around and running towards the exit, followed closely by Mimi.

Mimi and Soha winked at each other before she left and Soha smiled as she watched them go.

"What's going on?" Asked Ji Ho.

"You'll see in a few hours," Soha answered with a smirk.

Ji Ho shrugged and got back to his seat. He just hoped that nothing happened to the idol. He might be the key to cracking their case after all.

Nari looked around her in awe, then she turned to Mimi who was smiling at her. She did not smile back. She frowned and walked through the room while rubbing her temples. She couldn't believe her eyes. She was so mad right now.

"What the f-"

"I can explain," Mimi interrupted.

Nari took a deep breath and sat on the young girl's bed, next to the white dress. She touched it out of curiosity and the fabric was so soft. She sighed and returned her attention to Mimi.

"Are you getting married, Mimi? Is that it?"

"No, you are."

"Huh?"

"In less than five minutes, my mom and Kook's mom will enter this room with the makeup artist and the designer who made this dress. It was a bit short notice, so she thinks she might need to fix a few things. Also, everyone will be here by 4 p.m., including the groom. He is very nervous so please, if you want to scream at someone, do so now. I can take it. Or you could call Soha or Kooki or your dad to scream at them-"

"Wait, they all know?!?!?!"

Mimi grimaced and nodded.

"Even your boss. We were all in this together. I'm so sorry unnie. If you want to scream, now is your chance because when these two women get in here, you won't have time."

Nari was feeling so much at once! Anger, stress, surprise, betrayal... And now she was having a headache. How did this happen? How did they hide this from her? How did Soha hide this from her? And Kooki? And when did they have time to organize all this?

"I don't even know what to say." She finally murmured.

"Then get excited, you're marrying my adorable brother!"

She couldn't believe it. She was getting married in a few hours. She should be looking for a psycho serial killer, she should be protecting his only victim that got away, she should be trying to figure out his end game. But instead, she was getting married!

She had told him that she wanted to close the case first, but he still did this behind her back?

She should have known better when he said that. She should have known that he would do something like this. Oh, God what was he thinking? Probably trying to be romantic? It was cute, but it really wasn't the time!

"Unnie?"

"Where is he?" Nari asked through gritted teeth.

Mimi paled.

"You don't have enough time to see him, unnie. They'll be here soon."

Her voice was slightly trembling and Nari had noticed. She almost pitied her. She was probably just doing what was asked of her, after all. But she sure was enjoying it! Nari felt another wave of anger come upon her.

How dare they do this to me? This is not how I imagined my wedding! Damn you, Namjoon. Damn you, dad. Damn you, Jungkook. Damn you, Soha. Damn everyone! I'm getting out of here, there will be no f**king wedding!

She tried standing up but started feeling dizzy. She swore and decided to stay seated for now. Why the heck was she so lightheaded? And she felt tired, too. Maybe because she was furious?

Fine, even if she couldn't stand up, there would still be no wedding!

She took her phone out and dialed Namjoon's number. But just when it started ringing, the door opened letting in her aunts (Namjoon's mom and Kooki's mom) followed by four more people. Nari swore and threw her phone away.

This time, she was able to stand on her feet but was soon attacked by hugs and kisses. She really wasn't in the mood for this and she was quick to let them know.

"What the hell is going on here, Mrs. Kim? Mrs. Jeon?" She spat as soon as the two women let her go.

They exchanged a look and smiled at her.

"Honey, you don't-"

"Have time for this, I've heard that enough times already."

She cast Mimi an angry look at that moment and the poor girl had tears in her eyes. Nari rarely treated her like that and every time she did, Mimi cried, making the other girl soft. But not today! Nari was getting angrier by the second.

For a millisecond, though, she had wondered if she wasn't doing too much, but she was hardly controlling her emotions at that moment. Plus, considering the situation, no amount of anger was too much! She was tricked into getting married earlier than she had planned to! Even if the groom was the love of her life, it was still... well... not right!

Mrs. Jeon sighed and held her hands.

"You know, love is a beautiful thing and everyone deserves to love and be loved. There is a catch to it, though. Some people do not know how to love and hurt their partner without realizing it. We can be foolish in love sometimes or even clumsy... Is that what's happening here?"

"I know my baby is clumsy, god of destruction they call him? But was this a clumsy move? If none of this makes you happy, just say so and we'll stop everything. I promised Serena to take care of you and I meant it. I'll do anything to make you smile. So tell us what you want, honey."

Oh hell no! She wasn't going to cry, was she? She had forgotten for a second how well these two women knew her, especially Namjoon's mom. And they hit her where it hurt the most (not literally, of course): her mom.

Now she was crying and it wasn't from anger. She felt ungrateful to have even thought of calling Namjoon to scream at him, to have even thought of walking out of there. She felt selfish as well. She would have broken his heart for sure. She loved him so much, she didn't want that.

And why the f** were her emotions switching so quickly today?

The two women hugged her again and Mimi joined them this time. She couldn't' stop crying.

"Uh, I don't mean to be insensitive, but we have work to do, so can you leave the crying for later?"

They broke their hug and laughed.

"I'm sorry, everyone. Let's get this over with."

I have a killer to catch.

She turned around and smirked.

And a husband to take revenge on.

No matter how mad she was, she had to admit that it was beautiful. It was fortunate that the Kim's house was huge. A real mansion, actually. She loved how there were white and purple flowers all the way to the altar, and the prurple carpet on which she was walking. There were a few tables on either side of the carpet, covered in white tablecloths and small purple flower bouquets in the center. The wedding decorations were so simple and pretty, she almost got emotional. Almost.

"You'll pay for this, dad." She told chairman Park as he was walking her down the aisle.

"It doesn't matter, as long as I can see you getting married. You're beautiful, baby."

"It's you, isn't it? You did this."

Mr. Park laughed.

"He seemed rather eager to marry you, Nari."

She blushed and gave him a side eye.

"I know that, but we had decided on getting married after the case was-"

"We?"

She rolled her eyes but was unable to say anything because she had just seen her future husband. Oh God, he was hot! She wanted to rip his white suit off of his body right now, but she was pretty sure it would be inappropriate.

And Taehyung was here too? And Jimin? What the...? But that wasn't the most surprising. Min Yoongi was the f**cking marriage officiant?!!? When their eyes met, she said silently "You'll also pay for this". He then turned to Soha who was standing next to Jungkook, and Nari read on his lips "it's all your fault". Soha just shrugged and gave Nari her brightest smile.

She also threatened Jungkook with a look, but he just laughed. This kid had no respect, honestly.

When her father finally put her hand into Namjoon's, she had forgotten everything she was mad about and just looked at him with fascination. How was he so beautiful? And his smile! The way he looked at her... He looked so happy! Was she the reason for that? She couldn't believe it. He gave her a kiss on the forehead and she blushed again.

"You're beautiful, baby." He murmured.

She didn't answer and just looked down. She did everything she could to hold the tears. It was too early for that. And it was going to be a long night for him, so...

"Thank you, sweetie, you're gorgeous too. I can't wait to see you out of this fancy suit."

He blushed hard and started coughing. She laughed and Yoongi cleared his throat. There was a short silence before he began.

"What were you thinking, honestly?" Nari said while walking towards the car. The wedding was finally over and she was tired as heck. And horny. And angry. She knew she was being a bit dramatic, but she just couldn't help it. What was wrong with her today? Her mood swings were no joke!

"I just wanted to surprise you, I thought you'd be happy-"

"No, you were just doing whatever you wanted. You want to get married now, so we have to do it now! You're just like my father, you don't care about me or what I want!"

His eyes widened in shock. And he was hurt as well and yet, he didn't say anything for a while. He looked away, but she could have sworn that there were tears in his eyes.

"I'm sorry, I-"

His voice broke and he closed his eyes. She lifted her hand to touch his face but then decided against it. She didn't mean to hurt him, but he had to understand that he couldn't just decide things without telling her first, especially something as important as their wedding day. She would've loved to prepare for it, to be part of the organization, to stress about it, to talk about it, to get excited about it. He took all of that from her.

The funny thing was, she didn't even know that she wanted to do all that until today. She thought it wasn't her thing...

"Please, forgive me."

"Stop playing the victim, Namjoon." She spat and then got into the car. He did the same.

"I'm not-"

"Then what is all this? You know what? I don't want to be with you right now. Just bring me to my house and then go back to yours."

He got paler this time and frowned. "It's our wedding night, Nari." He whispered.

"So what? I don't want to be with you, will you force me?"

He didn't answer and started the car. The ride was silent, of course. Nari didn't want to discuss the situation any further and Namjoon was on the verge of bursting out in tears.
