《Bloodthirsty(KNJ)》3. Worried

I'm posting regularly right now because my workload is pretty light, yay! It won't always be like that, though.

"Oh. My. God."

He looked through the pages and looked back at Nari.

"This is crazy."

He threw the file on the table and took a sip at his coffee.

"I'm not sure about this. Korea, China, Japan, and even the US. NOW France too? I mean, there are psychopaths everywhere, ya know."

"Prosecutor Kim."

Kim Seokjin grinned at her and put his coffee back on the table.

"Ok, detective Park, let's say you're right. Then how can he be so confident even in other countries?"

"Because he got better over the years. We need to find case 0."

"Case 0?"

Nari rubbed her temples while thinking about what she and Taehyung talked about on the phone earlier. She was even using his words now? Damn.

"His first kill."

Jin looked at her in silence and she felt herself blushing for the hundredth time since she got here. She was sure Seokjin knew by now that she had a crush on him. She was so obvious despite all her effort to hide it. Even in such circumstances, she found a way to admire his beautiful face, his voice, his hands, his lips, his- God, she was losing her mind!

Focus, you idiot!

"That's interesting." He said, still looking at her.

Did he never blink? And why was he looking at her like that? It was troubling.

I want to kiss him so bad!

"Do you think we can just-"

"Are you okay?"

No, I'm not! I want you to touch me! NOW!

"Yes, why?"

"You don't look okay, Nari. This case... I know how you must feel about the victims, but you need to live."

"Stop worrying about me, Jin. I'm fine. You needed an update so here it is. We're still looking, I'm sure there's more."

"Okay," He said as he stood up.

She did the same and was about to leave when he asked: "what are you doing after this?"

"I'm going back to the precinct, I need to-"

She trailed off as she remembered her promise to Namjoon. She swore and took a quick look at her watch. It was almost lunchtime?!

"Nari?"

"I have to go. I'll see you later, prosecutor Kim!"

Then she was gone.

Jin watched the door for a few seconds before going back to his desk. He looked through the file again and sighed. He took his phone and dialed a number. His friend picked up after a few rings.

"Hyung"

"Why didn't you do as I asked?"

"Hyung, are you kidding me right now? You want me to stand in her way?"

"You're her boss."

"Even if I take her off this case, there will be other cases, hyung. She is a police officer, she'll always be in danger."

Jin closed his eyes and tried to ignore this bad feeling that wouldn't leave him alone. Ever since he got assigned this case, he tried to change the detective on it to no avail. He started by asking her, but she told him off.

He then asked his best friend for help, but Yoongi was as stubborn as Nari, if that was even possible. Maybe he should talk to the higher-ups? But then he would have two persons mad at him forever. Two persons he didn't want to lose, ever.

Nari was too headstrong and sometimes did crazy, dangerous things in the name of justice. He admired her for that, but he worried as well. She was so beautiful and delicate, he couldn't help but want to protect her. Was he wrong to feel that way?

"Don't worry, nothing will happen to her."

"How can you be so sure?"

"She is good at what she does. Plus, she is crazy, not stupid."

"Don't talk about her that way, Yoongi."

The young man laughed before answering "what a protective boyfriend."

"I'm not her boyfriend. I'm just worried about her."

"Because you like her?"

"As a friend. I worry as a friend."

"Right. I have to go now but don't worry hyung. I'll take care of it."

"Thanks, see you later."

He hung up and pulled out Nari's contact information. He knew he should trust his friend, but he still wasn't at peace. he sent her a quick text and put his phone away. He needed to focus on work for now.

"Noona."

She turned and smiled at the young man who was looking at her with his doe eyes while sipping his apple juice.

"Hey baby Kookie"

He rolled his eyes.

"Don't call me that."

"Should I call you oppa, then?"

"Hell no!" He exclaimed, horrified.

She laughed and hugged him. He was so adorable, she couldn't help but tease him. For some reason, he despised the word oppa like a nasty disease.

He also got shy around older women when he met them at first. He used to blush like crazy every time Soha was around and she loved to tease him as well.

Ah, the good old days.

Nari kissed him on the tip of the nose and he smiled cutely at her, showing his bunny teeth.

"I'm sorry I didn't call you, I've been busy lately."

"Namjoon hyung told me."

"You talked to Joonie?"

He nodded and looked around for a trash can. He got rid of his empty juice box and turned his attention back to her.

"We were together yesterday. You didn't forget, right? That you're seeing him today?"

"No, I didn't. Geez, am I that bad?"

"Do you really need me to answer that?" he said, raising his eyebrows.

"Whatever, what are you doing here?"

"Work. Is your boss in? I need to fix something on his computer."

"Yes, he just got in."

"Okay, see you later, noona."

He smiled at her and walked away. He grew up so fast, that little bunny!

She still remembered him as a little boy, it felt like yesterday. Jungkook, Namjoon, and her grew up together. Although he was a few years younger than them, he was always hanging out with them. They were like brothers and sister.

Namjoon had a younger sister and Jungkook had an older brother, but Nari, she had no siblings. Her mom died when she was still young and her dad never remarried. However, their relationship wasn't the best, either. She felt like Namjoon and Jungkook were her only family.

Even if they didn't get together as often now, they still shared a strong bond. Jungkook worked at his father's IT company alongside his brother, but strangely enough, he was always hanging around Nari at the most unexpected times.

Every time she asked him why he wasn't at work, he answered that he could work from everywhere as long as he had a computer and a cellphone. So she stopped asking at some point. She had to admit that he was very useful when she needed to find someone, though. He was a computer wizard.

She took another look at her watch and almost screamed. Namjoon was supposed to pick her up at 3! It was already 2 p.m. and she still had to shower and wash her hair, damn it! She swore as she rushed out of the precinct. She wouldn't hear the end of it if she was late. Joonie would nag her to death.

Jungkook typed a few more keys and pushed the computer away.

"Done," he said with a satisfied smile.

"Are you sure it's working?"

"Are you doubting me, superintendent hyung?"

Yoongi looked at the young man through squinted eyes. This boy! He was so annoying and yet, he was unable to dismiss him as he did other people.

"Here," Jungkook pointed at the screen. "See this red dot? That's her. She is on her way to her house."

"So I can see her every move?"

"Even when her phone is turned off."

"What if she drops her phone-"

"Ah, superintendent hyung! Who do you take me for? Her earrings, her watches, necklaces, everything. She is my noona and she is constantly putting herself in danger. Do you really think I would just let her be?"

"Wooaaah kid, you did well." Yoongi said and he started clapping.

Jungkook smiled proudly and bowed. Yoongi smiled back at him. What's with this kid? He even made Yoongi crack a smile so easily.

"But this is our little secret okay? She can't find out."

"I've been doing this for years, and she doesn't have a clue. If she finds out now, I'll assume it's your fault, superintendent hyung."

"Right, thank you anyway."

"By the way, why are you tracking her?"

Yoongi thought about it for a second. He thought the answer would be obvious, but it really wasn't. Was he doing a favor to Jin hyung? Was he genuinely worried about her too? Or was he just covering his ass?

Actually, all of the above.

She really was trouble and he was tired of hearing his superiors telling him how bad he was at controlling his officers, especially the young females.

He knew exactly what they were implying, but he really couldn't be bothered by all their shit. He was also tired of being interrupted every time he wanted to take a nap, because of her, even if he somehow developed a brotherly affection towards her.

He liked the way she worked, but she was just too careless at times.

The young kid didn't need to know all that, though. So he just responded with a small smile:

"She is my craziest officer."

"Why am I not surprised," murmured Jungkook as he got up. "I'm heading back, call me if you need help with the devices."

"Sure."

"See you, superintendent hyung!"

When he got out of the superintendent's office, he took out his phone and opened the tracking app. He then texted Namjoon "I think you should take your time, she just got home."

He then walked back to work while still checking up on her. He knew she'd be mad and disappointed when she found out about the tracking devices, but he didn't have a choice.

She was reckless and got everyone worried about her all the time. At least now, he could know where she was at any time of the day. And he was also able to answer Chairman Park's questions when she avoided him.

The poor old man was trying hard to rekindle his relationship with his daughter, but his stubborn noona didn't even want to see him. He had to blackmail her or pressure her somehow every time he wanted to meet her.

Jungkook wished he could do something about it, but every time he brought it up, she would change the subject.

Namjoon hyung told him to be patient, she would come around eventually. But as the years passed, it got worse.

Should he just give up? He hated seeing her like that. She didn't have a mother anymore, but her father was still alive. Shouldn't she enjoy his love and presence while she could?

He was worried that there would be no one to take care of her if he or Namjoon hyung weren't around anymore. She was single, too. How can a woman live like that? She hadn't dated anyone in years! How was that normal? Should he find her a boyfriend? As the thought crossed his mind, he laughed.

How could he do that when he knew how Namjoon hyung felt about her? But then again, he wouldn't make a move and it was frustrating to watch.

He just hoped that this time, he wouldn't miss his chance. Also, why was Nari noona being so clueless? Some detective she was!
