Indigo sat in the car next to her twin brother Violet. Kenji drove the car as Ameena sat in the front seat, her head leaning on the window with a solemn expression on her face. "Umm so who's in the hospital", Violet questioned as he smacked on his bag of Doritos.
About an hour ago there aunt received a phone call from someone. Since then she has not said a word to anyone. She looked sorrowfully and there were a few traces of regret in her eyes. Letting out a small sigh she quietly responded, "Mary is sick".
Scrunching his nose together Violet asks, "Who the fuck is that". Everyone stifles a laugh towards his bluntness. "My mama and y'all grandmother", his aunt explained to them .
Tilting her lips to the side Indigo interjected saying, "I though we don't fuck with her". Running her hand through her bone straight Amenna just shrugged looking out the window. The twins made eye contact each other having a silent conversion with each other as an awkward silence came over the car.
After some encouragement from her now fiance Ameena started speaking. "I have five other siblings as yall know, I was the baby. But what you don't know is that I have a different dad from the rest of them. Mary cheated on her husband with my dad. So I was always the odd one out. And of course she treated me different from the rest of my siblings so we never really got along with them. The only sibling I messed with was yall dad. When he was around no one in that household bothered me".
Pausing the story to drink some water she continued speaking, "The minute he died they started fucking with me. It was to the point where I will stay at friends houses overnight. I legit hated it there. When I turned eighteen I dipped out that bitch".
Everyone was quiet as they digested the story. Indigo laid her head on her twin's shoulder as she silently tried to break the story apart. The whole time her aunt was fighting for her she was also fighting for herself.

In that moment Indigo made a promise to herself to grind as hard as she can. Not for herself, but for her aunt. So one day she can buy her a house or car, just something to give back and appreciate her.
As if he knew exactly what she was thinking, Violet brought her closer to him, placing a small kiss on her forehead mumbling to her, "And you will". Indigo smiled softly back to him in response.
Turning the her aunt Indigo questioned, "If she did allat why you still give a fuck bout her". As they stopped at a red light Ameena turned around her seat looking at the two teenegers straight in thier eyes.
"The Art of Forgiveness".
The twin's aunt watched a shadow of confusion come over their faces. "Ion believe in forgiveness", Violet responded as he shrugged his shoulders with an I don't care attitude.
Taking a hold of his hand she spoke to him gently, "The two of you have the purest hearts and souls. By holding grudges you're darkening it and mentally harming yourself. Let go". With that she turned back around as the twin sat in silence clearly pondering her statement.

Mary, the twins grandmother laid in the hospital bed clearly looking sick. Her skin looked ash grey and she honestly looks like she was about to drop dead any moment.
Coughing she looks around at the room surrounded by family, "I feel my time coming to an end. God is calling me back home".
Laughing Violet goes, "Bitch God don't want you. Your black ass finna go to hell". Indigo stifled her laugh as she elbowed her twin.
Ignoring him, Mary continued speaking saying, "I'm just waiting for my lawyer to come so we can put the will together". At that both twin's heads popped up, "Will like money?', Violet questioned as his eyebrow raised up.
One of their aunt's scolded him before turning to Ameena looking her up and down, "You need to get them kids out of here. Acting like they have no home training". Immediately stepping up Violet's hand went to the hidden gun at his waist. Noticing him his twin slapped his hand away.

Ameena stepped up getting into her older sister's face before whispering something to her. Everyone watched nervously as the older girl's face slowly paled. Smirking Ameena stepped away from her with a sly smirk on her face.
"Bitches just be pussy", Violet said, shaking his head. Looking up to see everyone looking at him he bucked at them.
Holding back her laugh Ameena told the pair of twins, "How about yall go take a walk". Nodding Indigo dragged her brother out behind her.
A second later Violet jogged back in, "Umm so I just wanted to know if I can pull the plug when it's time for you to go bye bye". Before anyone can say anything Indigo marched back in to drag Violet out by his ear.
Indigo laid in Sev's car as she ate the fries and wings he bought for her. Her twin went to his apartment so she called Sev to chill with him.
Sev picked up his phone texting someone back before putting his phone face front on the dashboard. "Who that", Indigo questioned.
"Nobody", he responded to her. Indigo eyed him for a minute before dropping the topic. As a result of her past, she didn't trust easily but she knew for this relationship to work they have to trust each other.
"Tell me about your day", he asked her as he rubbed her feet. Sighing Indigo started to rant, "I got a car and some other shit. But now my grandma is dying and ion know how to feel. My aunt was like to forgive her but ion know how I can forgive some of the things that lady did to me".
"Ya aunt is right. Don't hold hate in your heart. She finna be dead by the end of the day anyway so you not gonna see her again", he said shrugging as he leaned his car seat back.
"Enough about me. How was your day?". Tilting his lips to the side Sev itched his head before saying, "Well I got into another argument with my mom and dipped ode early".
Sitting up Indigo looked at him asking, "What were yall arguing about". Waving her off he says, "Nothing really".
Seeing the look on her face he explained saying, "My pops in jail for the same thing I'm doing right now. She doesn't like that at all so we argue all the time".
Thinking for a second Indigo advised him as she says, "She is lowkey right. Most people who do that type of shit end up dead or in jail. Start taking tattooing more seriously, cause you good asf in that shit. Don't fight with your mom, she knows what's right for you".
Looking out the window a flash of sadness came over her as she muttered to herself, "I'll kill for the chance to see my mama one more time". As much as her aunt and Kenji helped her, the gap of not having a mom never filled up.
Her mom will not get the chance to send her off to prom, see her graduate or watch her get married. That's something that fucks with Indigo consistently.
Seeing the sad look on her face and hearing her side comment, Sev wrapped her into a hug kissing her forehead. Indigo squirmed around in his arms as he cuddled closer into her. Laughing she says, "Lemme gooo".
Shaking his head, Sev places several kisses all over her face, "I wanna live in your skin", he says as he hugs her closer.
Affection wise the couple were complete opposites. Sev was a touchy person, that's simply how he shows his love. Indigo on the other hand doesn't like being touched alot so it took a while for her to get used to it.
A comfortable silence fell over the car as the couple rested in each other's arms. As her phone vibrated Indigo looked at it before reading the text from her twin.
