《the human (r.h)》twenty seven; already gone

It had been a few days since Isabella Swan had returned from Italy, and along with her she'd brought the rest of the Cullen family.

So, Delilah George had done everything in her power to avoid the whole of the group.

It wasn't because she wasn't pleased for Bella, because she was. She was really happy that the Swan girl had gone to Italy and saved Edward. Delilah knew that Bella would probably be on cloud nine right now. But Delilah wasn't.

Once Bella had left with Alice, Jacob had dropped Delilah off at home after his little hissy fit. Which had concluded in Delilah feeling a lot more comfortable around the boy, so that was a positive. However, Delilah had decided that she'd read through her journal. The journal that contained all things super natural.

The end result of that was Delilah feeling rather overwhelmed. Which meant she wanted to be as far away from Isabella Swan and her little Cullen Cult for as long as possible.

Delilah wasn't sure how much longer she had left, in truth everyday she could feel herself getting more and more weak. So she wanted to make sure the reminder of her life would be as unproblematic as possible. As it sounded to be anything but when she was involved with the vampires.

So Delilah has taken it upon herself to go out on a little trip. It was only to Port Angeles and she did have a little tracker on her phone so that her parents would be able to find her if she got lost. But still, Delilah felt better than she had in a while, for once she could be a normal independent person.

It was now 6 o'clock and the air had just gotten that bit colder, and Delilah had just gotten that bit hungry. Which is why the girl now found herself sitting alone in a red booth in some diner that she'd found.

Delilah didn't mind being by herself, she was quite enjoying her own company. She felt like she could make up these crazy stories about what could of happened in her life, and no one around her could tell her that she was being silly.

Unfortunately for Delilah, as she was glancing down at the menu in front of her she could feel the presence of another person sit down at the other side of the booth. For a few seconds she went a bit stiff, mainly because she was quite scared that some strange man had sat down in front of her. But that was only until she felt the sweet smell of a girls perfume.

"Hello." The soft voice spoke, causing the brunette to look up from the table and straight into the golden eyes of the most gorgeous person she had ever seen. She had beautiful blonde curls that fell just beneath her shoulder, Delilah was briefly mesmerised by the girl in front of her, unable to form any words for a few seconds, "Are you okay?"

The brunette nodded her head, taking a big gulp before being able to reply, "Hi, I'm okay. Are you?" A quick thought passed Delilah's head that this girl might be in trouble and that's why she had sat down with her. Not that Delilah would be able to do much to help her.

The human noticed how the girls face looked sad, even though there was a smile on her lips, "Yeah I'm good, I'm glad you're good too."

Delilah nodded, with a polite smile on her lips as she leaned in closer to the girl, "Are you really okay? You aren't in any trouble or anything?"

The vampire shook her head, "I'm fine. I was just sat over there and I needed some company and I saw you, and I thought you'd be perfect." As a giggle fell from Delilah's lips, the vampire in front took some time to really look at her. She'd looked at her before, of course she had, she'd spent more than a year with her. But she hadn't looked at this Delilah: this one looked like she had no worries in the world, she looked truly happy and carefree.

She looked like a girl that Rosalie didn't know.

"Oh, well thank you for gracing me with your presence." The brunette lifted a hand across the table as she sat back up straight, "I'm Delilah, but everyone calls me Lilah."

"Can I call you Ly?"

At the sound of the nickname something flickered inside Delilah's chest, but it was for no more than a second and something she decided she didn't want to focus on. "Yeah sure. No one else calls me that, but I guess that can be out thing?" A few giggles fell from the lips of Delilah, the noise making Rosalie's smile widen. "What should I call you?"

The smile that had only just widened, faltered slightly, "Rosie. No one calls me that, so I guess that can be our thing."

To Rosalie this felt so familiar, she felt so at ease and happy in the presence of the girl she was still deeply in love with. It felt familiar to Delilah too, but she didn't know why.

"Look at us, we're like best friends already." As soon as the words left Delilah's lips, Rosalie felt a pang in her unbeating heart. She knew she had no right to be hurt, but she did anyway.

The vampire didn't reply, instead she watched Delilah as she gratefully accepted the bowl of pasta from the waitress. Having already ordered before Rosalie had sat down.

As Delilah picked up a piece of garlic bread, she looked up at Rosalie, "Are you not having anything? You could have some of my pasta or garlic bread if you want?"

The vampire shook her head, "No thank you, I've already eaten."

The old Delilah would have been embarrassed to be sat in front of a stranger and eating. She would have been too conscious of what she looked like. But the new Delilah didn't care, she wanted her food and she wanted it now.

"So, are you here by yourself?"

Rosalie nodded her head, something she seemed to be doing a lot of, "Yeah, all by myself. What about you?"

"The same."

"Oh, you're not here with your boyfriend or anything?"

Another giggle fell from Delilah's lips, something she too seemed to be doing a lot of, "No no, I'm single. I'm also extremely lesbian at the minute."

Now a rather large smile broke out on Rosalie's face as she watched Delilah take a mouthful of carbonara, "Oh really?"

"Yep....there's this girl. I don't think I've known her too long but, she's great. Honestly she's amazing." Delilah picked up her drink and took a sip, "If she asked me to run away to a tiny town in France where we could raise puppies and babies, I would say yes in a heart beat."

At the words, Rosalie's heart broke. It was the last thing she wanted to hear. But how could she have expected Delilah to still be in love with her? She had left the brunette crying at the waterfall, and on top of that the girl had lost her memory. It was no fault of Delilah's that she couldn't remember who Rosalie was, in fact, Rosalie blamed it all on herself. "Oh, that's..... that's really great."

Delilah never noticed the sad expression that was on Rosalie's face, she was too busy thinking of Leah to even pay attention. "Anyway, are you from around here or?"

For a few seconds Rosalie thought of lying, but what was the point in that? "No, I'm from Forks."

Delilah's mouth dropped open, "Really? Me too!"

"I know." At first Delilah's stomach dropped at the woman's words, how did she know? But that was only until a thought occurred to her.

"Did we...did we know each other?" After she had spoke she realised that she probably sounded crazy if the girl didn't know anything about her condition, "It's just, I've lost a lot of my memory. So I'm not sure who I do and don't know." A small nervous laugh fell from Delilah's lips, it wasn't something she really liked to tell strangers.

"Can I be honest with you?"

"Yes, please." Delilah wanted nothing more than for everyone to tell her the truth.

But Rosalie couldn't do that, she couldn't bring herself to tell Delilah everything, "We went to school together, but we didn't really know each other that well."

"Oh right?" A happy smile still rested on Delilah's lips, "Maybe we can get to know each other better? We could be great friends, you know."

As much as it pained Rosalie, she painted a smile on her face and nodded her head, "Yeah. We could be great friends."

Delilah George had truly forgotten Rosalie Hale, and there was nothing she could do about it.
