《the human (r.h)》twenty two; make up

Things were starting to get a little weird for Delilah George and Isabella Swan.
The two girls hadn't had any contact with each other in a good five weeks, Isabella had been acting reckless, riding around on motorbikes and what not. And Delilah had been living it up with Reece and his friends.
But one Saturday while Bella was getting ready to go and see Jacob, there was a knock on the door. At first she waited, hoping that the person on the other side would soon leave. However they never did, instead they just kept on knocking. Leaving Bella with no choice but to open the door.
Once she opened the door however, she wished she had just left it as Delilah George stood on the other side.
At first Bella wasn't sure what to do, she considered closing the door in Delilah's face, however she opted to take a deep breath inside, preparing herself for the battering she was going to have from Delilah.
"Well?" A puzzled look fell upon the blue eyes girls face, "Are you gonna invite me in?"
It was now Bella's turn to wear a puzzled look, "What?"
A smile fell upon Delilah's face as she held up a plastic bag, "I brought us face masks." Then before waiting for a reply, Delilah pushed her way into the house, "I was just thinking, 'Me and Bella haven't hung out, just us two in a while, so why not do some face masks together?'"
Isabella followed Delilah into her living room, and watched as her old friend placed herself on the sofa, "Why would we hang out?"
Delilah raised both of her eyebrows, "Because we're best friends? Duh."
There were many moments when Isabella had been confused, and each time she thought she'd never been as confused. But this time really took the biscuit, "No we aren't."
"What do you mean no we aren't? Did something happen last night? I was literally just over here watching films with you and your dad." Delilah sat up, she too was now more confused than ever.
"No you weren't."
A nervous laugh fell from Delilah's lips, "Yes I was. We watched all the Jurassic Parks and ate pizza."
Bella moved from where she was stood and sat down on the sofa next to Delilah, a look of concern replacing the confused one. "No we didn't, Lilah, we did that last year, when I first moved here."
At first Delilah just stared at the girl, before a snort sounded from her nose, "Harhar, very funny Bella. You never told me you were such a good actress."
"Delilah, what? I'm not acting. That seriously was last year."
For a few seconds Delilah just stared at Bella, she couldn't figure out if the brunette was playing some cruel joke on her. Nothing was making much sense in Delilah's head at the minute. "Wha-"

"-Delilah, we haven't hung out in a few weeks because you started screaming at me in front of everyone. You basically said everything was my fault."
"What's your fault?" Delilah blinked, she was getting even more confused.
And Bella blinked back, "That you're dying."
"I'm dying?" Delilah whispered to herself, but once she noticed the crazy look that Bella was pulling her, she faked a look of realisation, "Ah yes! I remember now, it was all over that.....thing."
In reality Delilah had no idea what Bella was on about.
"Because of the venom." Bella was rather confused and worried, it wasn't everyday that Delilah George shows up on your doorstep and acted like you had just arrived in Forks. It also wasn't everyday that Delilah couldn't remember why she had been mad, "Remember? You said it in that text."
The text that Delilah had sent Bella a mere twenty minutes after their argument read: "Fuck you and you're stupid fucking boyfriend. If anyone deserved to die it would be you two. And I'm not just saying that because I'm angry, I mean it. If it wasn't for Edward, I wouldn't have stupid venom poisoning and be dying. Stay de-pressed." At the time Delilah wrote the text she had sat and laughed to herself for at least half an hour, however now she was reading it back, she didn't find it as funny.
"Oh yes." A nervous laugh again fell from Delilah's lips, "What can I say? Angry me is a little mean......sorry about that."
Now it wasn't Bella's original plan to forgive Delilah, she wanted to stay mad at her for a very long time. But as the girl sat in front of her, she could tell that Delilah wasn't okay. Her hair had lost the shine that used to reflect in the light, her skin wasn't glowing anymore and she was now deathly pale. She didn't look like the Delilah that Bella used to know, and she didn't act like her either.
So Isabella placed a gentle hand on Delilah's leg, "Lilah, are you okay?"
At first Delilah considered lying, it was far easier to pretend than to tell the truth, Delilah should know, she'd been doing it her whole life. But as she looked at the face of Bella Swan, she found it impossible to lie to her anymore. "I-I don't know."
"You don't know?"
Delilah shook her head as her eyes started to fill with tears, "I don't remember falling out with you....I don't remember you being here for a year....I don't remember anything we did together....I don't remember finding out I'm dying, or who Edward is."
For a few seconds Bella wasn't sure what to say as she started at the face of the towns IT girl, "What do you remember?"

"I remember movie night with you, I remember crying to Angela in the toilets but I can't remember why. I-I remember this blonde girl, there's a few memories with her....but I don't remember her."
The words came as a shock to Bella, there was no way that Delilah couldn't remember arguably the biggest part of her life, "What did you do last night, Lilah?"
"I thought I was here."
Bella nodded her head and asked if she could borrow Delilah's phone, surprisingly the girl handed it over without any argument, "I'll just be two seconds, okay?"
"Okay."
And so Isabella made her way into the kitchen, out of earshot of Delilah George and started to dial Maya George's number.
"Hey Lily, you okay?" Within two rings Maya picked up.
"Hey Maya, it's Bella."
"Bella?" The surprise was clear in the girls voice, especially because the last she knew was that Delilah hated Bella's guts, "Why do you have my sisters phone?"
"She showed up on my doorstep. She had face masks and treats and stuff. She's forgotten all about the argument she had with me, she can't even remember what she did last night."
The line was silent for a few seconds, "Can I come over?"
For a second Bella nodded, until she remembered that Maya couldn't see her, "Of course."
"I was on my way to Taylor's which is just round the corner, I'll be like two minutes."
And sure enough Maya was only two minutes. Clearly the girl stuck to her word.
"Hey, Lily." Maya walked into the living room and went straight to kneel in front of Delilah, while Isabella stood at the door. "Remember last night? We went to the house and Taylor was there, and you were with Reece."
A small flip switched on inside Delilah's head at her sisters words, "Yes.....I just forgot. I-I thought I was here instead."
A small sad smile was on Maya's face, "No baby. Do you remember Rosalie?"
"The blonde girl?"
As Bella stood in the doorway watching Delilah and Maya interact, she started to see Delilah as a small child. She no longer looked like the intimidating scary girl that Bella used to envy in secret. Instead she saw that image crumble in front of her eyes.
"Yes the blonde girl. Can you remember anything about her?"
Delilah nodded her head as tears started to fill up in her eyes again, "I can remember bits," The brunette paused and took a big breath in, "I think I'm starting to forgot things, Maya."
The sad smile grew on Maya's face as Bella clenched her eyes together, "I think so too, Lily."
It was clear the girl was starting to panic as her breathing started speeding up, "What am I gonna do, Maya?"
And for once in her life, Bella had a great idea, "I know!" The brunette didn't say another word as she ran up the stairs and started shuffling through her draws until she found the two things she need, before running back downstairs, "It's not the best, b-but I was just thinking, maybe, you can write down all the stuff you can remember. Then the stuff you can't I can fill in, or Maya can fill in. Only if you want to though."
As Bella had started to talk she had started to lose confidence until a small smile broke out on Delilah's face, "I think that's great idea, Belly." The girl then stood up and pulled Bella into a hug as she placed a kiss on her cheek, "I'm sorry for how I treated you the other day. I know I can't remember, but it sounds like I was a bitch......you know I love you."
Bella hugged Delilah back just as tight, she'd missed her best friend and wanted to savour every moment. Because a part of Bella told her she wouldn't have very long to do so; either Delilah was going to remember just how much she hated Isabella, or she was going to forgot who the girl even was.
"So, Lily," Maya interrupted the hug, "We'll go do what Bella says, and then we'll write about your day in it every night. Then if you can't remember in the morning, you can read it. Yeah?"
Delilah nodded and reached down to pick her bag up from the floor, however Bella's eyes widened at the action, "Where are you going?"
"Home. You don't want us to stay here after how horrible I was."
"No, of course I want you to stay here. All is forgiven."
A large smile broke out on Delilah's face as she reached into her bag and pulled something out, "It's a good job I brought an extra face mask then!"
It seemed that something changed everyday for Delilah George. And while some good things happened, it wouldn't be too long until the bad things resurfaced.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
