《The Reject (On Hold)》Chapter 25

I could hear noises from outside the huge wooden door. Several of them to be exact.

It consist of my mom and dad, his trusted loyal advisor and Riley.

I'm saddened by the fact that I have to leave my mom and dad again.

I have left them long enough during my pack visit and now I must leave them again for three years time.

Making sure I'm presentable, I proceed to open the door.

All noises ceased and their gazes are placed upon me. I can see the glimmer in my mom's, dad's and Riley's eyes.

I have finally returned and judging from my expression, they know that I have a plan in mind to face Nereus.

But I bet they won't like it once I told them what Eona and I are planning.

Everyone for the exception of my parent and Riley leave the room. I can feel the atmosphere growing even tenser while they're waiting for me to speak.

"Edith! I'm glad to see you back."

My mom ran to me and engulf me into the biggest hug that she could muster. Without wasting any second longer, I hug her back.

"Man, I have never been so glad seeing you back here." Riley approach me and hug me.

Ending our greetings, my dad begin our discussion about the threat that we're currently facing.

"Did you manage to find Eona?"

"I did."

"I believe that you have some kind of plan set up by the both of you, am I right?"

"I did but before that, could we move somewhere more... private?"

My dad agreed to my request and we move ourselves to the meeting room. Two guards are guarding the entrance and the walls are soundproofed.

We sat down and continue the meeting.

"Before I start, please let me explain until the end and all of you could ask question once I'm finished."

They give me their serious looks and I start to explain everything from the beginning.

There are some things that I purposely left out for example, severing my mate bond and the fact I can cast spells.

I'm enrolling myself to the Glaxart Academy for the purpose of utilising their library and try to find something about Nereus.

He's a great warlock so he might end up in a book or two.

Once I ended the explanation, they did not seem pleased at all.

"Oh shoot, this looks bad Sierra."

"Tell me about it, I can feel their wolves are getting restless."

I'm shocked that they agree to my proposal immediately despite their reluctant facade.

They know that we have no idea on how to obtain information about Nereus since we have never heard a thing about him.

"Edith, I'm not sure if you're aware of this information but Glaxart Academy only open its doors for new applicants once every three years." My dad informed me.

"I'm aware of it and lucky for us, this year is their opening year." Giving them my infamous billion dollar smile while hoping to lighten the mood.

However, it backfired and I can see their frown getting deeper and the room's atmosphere getting even gloomier.

I took a long deep sight, wiping the smile on my face to match the mood.

"Right then, since this will take a while. I'm going to sleep, good luck and bye!"

"SIERRA!"

I can feel the wall she put between us blocking our communication and her breath slows down. I can't believe it! She just left me to deal this on my own!

All of them are looking at me as if I'm crazy. I don't blame them, my expression changes several times in just a short amount of time.

Before I could open my mouth, my dad had spoken.

"How would you enrol? As far as I know, the application process have closed and the selection process just started."

As if trying to prevent me from going, Riley also chimed in.

"Exactly! Do you think they would let you waltz in just like that? You know that they won't accept you just because of your status right?"

This is starting to get on my nerves even though I know that they're just worried about me.

"Who said anything about any of that?" With a smirk on face, I show everyone the scroll that Eona gave me.

"This, ladies and gentleman is a recommendation paper that would let me waltz in just like that into the academy."

"How are you able to get that dear?" My mom ask.

"Eona's reputation precedes her and all of Glaxart's teacher are literally begging to make her as their apprentice. She refuse and they gave up."

"Instead, they gave her this. They know that she wouldn't just give this to anyone and they're hoping to find someone who at least could match her ability."

The meeting goes on for another hour, with me debating back and forth with my mom, dad and Riley.

Riley insist that he come with me, but I refuse. Telling him that Carol still need him and if he leave with me, it will be the same as telling our enemies of our strategy.

Everyone tries to hold me back from going, but I've made up my mind. This is the only best option for us.

Our discussion ended. They will let me leave under the condition that I need to return before my coronation.

Exiting the meeting room, I immediately retreat back to my room, feeling drained.

To be honest, I have never wanted to leave. If I could, I just want to lay in bed and do all of my boring chores, lessons and meetings.

You know the terms sometimes boring is better. With my current condition, I would like that more than anything else. A boring life.

~The next day~

Since Glaxart have started their selection process, I need to leave immediately so I could catch up on my first day of class.

All of my family members, including Riley and Carol are here to see me off. After saying my goodbyes, I get into my sedan and turn the engine on.

I have been through lots of goodbyes but this might be the hardest one. They say that it will get easier but I found it to be a lie.

I won't be seeing any of them for a long period of time and this is my first time that I will be going alone.

Giving them one last smile, I hit the gas pedal and feeling the car starting to move.

Before I knew it, they sky have turn dark, signifying that I have been driving for hours non-stop. I only stop for gas and to grab quick bite.

"I'm tired Edith, let's find some place to rest."

"You're quite funny, considering that I AM the one who is driving."

"Come on Edith! You know what I mean, after we found a hotel, let's go for a walk."

"No can do missy. First of all, we're in an unfamiliar territory. Second of all, don't you think that I have forgotten about your betrayal during our meeting with mom and dad!"

I'm exhausted and I really can't handle Sierra's yapping right now.

"Why would you drive in the first place anyway? We could just take a plane and voila! We arrive at Glaxart." Sierra added.

"And risking our enemies to find out about our plan? Come on Sierra!"

"So you're 100% sure that Nereus haven't find out about our location right now?"

"It's not that! But our chances of him finding out is lower if we drive."

"So what, in the end he'll know, might as well make things simpler by going there with a plane."

"Sierra! I'm exhausted and I'm not dealing with your whining now. So please, STOP!"

Since both her and I share the same body, she knows how exhausted I am and decide to cease her complaints.

According to Hollywood's tradition, I need to stay in a shady and scary motel since I'm in the middle of nowhere.

I park my car and take out my luggage. Heading into the reception desk, I proceed to pay for my room. I can't wait to lay my head on any pillow.

The next day come sooner than I expected, and I continue my drive. Eventually, I've reached my destination.

I arrive at an inn that's surrounded by the forest. This inn is managed but several supernatural beings. Such as vampires, werewolves, etc.

Since we could not reach Glaxart with car, we will leave it here and proceed by foot.

My luggage and other stuffs will be send into my room by the inn's staff into my dorm in Glaxart.

Since it's a two hours hike, I decide to just let Sierra take over so we could reach there faster.

Transforming behind a bush, I could feel that my bones start to break and form itself again in exchange for my paws to came out.

I stretch for a few minute before letting Sierra take control. She dashed immediately into the forest with her mouth grinning like a mad dog.

We've been following the same path for an hour and I know we're close to Glaxart. The smell of supernatural beings cramming together in a place filled my nose.

Sierra's pace getting faster and even faster before we're meet with a familiar smell. Brown sugar and cinnamon.

Sierra immediately stop and growls.

"What are our lovely mates up to this time?" Sierra asked with a sarcastic tone while maintaining her angry look.

"Beats me but I'm sure they're up to no good. Be careful Sierra."

We approach the scent carefully and suddenly, another scent hits our nose.

"It smells like a wet grass after a rain and I can smell... BLOOD!"

Both me and Sierra started to panic.
