《The Reject (On Hold)》Chapter 26

We both panicked when the smell of blood hits our nose. Mate or no mate, they might be in danger.

Sierra quickly rush towards where the scent come from and I couldn't believe my eye.

It wasn't Claude and Caesar. What stand in front of me are three male wolves. Blood covering some of their clothes but I from the smell, it isn't theirs.

Then I saw another guy, he's slouching on the tree bark. He looks bloody and battered. By the looks of it, he could die anytime.

"MATE!" The three of them screams at the same time.

"What?" I spoke to Sierra.

How is this even possible. What just happened? Why is this happening? I don't understand.

My hearts is pounding intensely and I freeze. I can't move. This is not happening. Not another one.

I can't get rejected again by my mate! I could die.

"EDITH!" Sierra scream inside my head.

Her screaming take me by surprised and my adrenaline kick in. I do the first thing that I can.

I ran.

I bolt immediately and run like I never run before. My mind is blank and I ran as if my life depends on it.

Well it is! If I get caught by my mates and rejected again I would die. So with that in mind, I keep running.

Within a distance, I could hear a soft patter of feet chasing after me. It must be them. No! I can't let them catch me.

"Edith what are you doing!"

"They're going to kill us Sierra. Please just run faster! Help me! Do something!"

"EDITH CALM DOWN!"

"HOW ARE YOU EXPECTING ME TO CALM DOWN. THEY'RE OUR MATES AND JUST LIKE THE LAST TIME THEY'LL REJECT US"

"DON'T YOU SEE THAT BLOODIED MAN LYING DOWN! AFTER THEY REJECT US WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL THEY DO TO US!"

"Edith, calm down! You'll hurt yourself before they are able to hurt you!"

"HOW ARE YOU SO SURE? THEY'RE CHASING AFTER US! WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL THEY DO TO US ONCE THEY CATCH US!"

(Sorry for all the caps's word)

I don't have time to argue with Sierra, so I just blocked her out. If she's not going to help me, it's fine. It's all up to me now to make sure both of us are safe.

Using my heightened sense, I could feel them coming closer to me. The closer they get, the more paranoid I become.

While running, I prayed to the moon goddess so they would just leave me alone. But it seems that she have turn a blind eye towards me because I could feel them coming even closer.

Why can't they just leave me alone! I want nothing to do with them. I was not looking where I'm going anymore. What I know is just that I need to keep going forward.

One step follow by another one. I can feel my paw pounding the ground, until there is no more to step on.

I lose my footing and I realise I'm running straight towards a cliff. My hearts literally stop and that's it. It's the end of my life.

I messed up badly this time and there's no going back. I'm about to die alone, without ever seeing my mom, dad, Lionel, Riley, and Carol.

Such a shame that I won't also be able to see Carol's baby. I would have become his or her aunt. But because of this, I will never get a chance to see them.

Closing my eyes, I accept my fate. This will be my end and the only regret that I have is I have never had the chance to say goodbye.

I'm ready to feel the jagged rock pierce my skin. However, it never came. What had happened?

A tingling sensation wrapped around my lower half body and it feels like a human hand.

I quickly open my eyes and turn behind my back. A light-brown haired male wolf with blue eyes, with a messy a comb-over hair cuts is holding me and preventing me from falling to my dead.

It's one of my mates. Realising that fact, I struggle to free myself from his grip. What's the point of saving me anyway.

My struggles seems to make his grip on me weaker and before I knew it, I'm free from his grip.

Yet at the same time, I was thrown back into the ground behind. I was not ready for the impact and it hurt like hell.

Especially since the ground near that cliff have so many small rocks.

The adrenaline left my body and I feel tired. But my sense alert me that there are two figures fast approaching to where I'm at.

It must be this son of a biscuit's damn brothers. I quickly get up and I'm on my four feet again. Preparing for whatever shit that would come towards me.

Facing back towards the guy who just saved me, he smell like brown sugar. I don't understand, wasn't my ex-mate smell like brown sugar?

This is confusing the hell out of me! My mind start to roam but then I could feel his two brothers arrive and I need to focus.

Feeling like a trapped animal, I have no choice but to put a show. I can't let them know that I'm panicking on the inside.

I maintain eye contact with the two who have just arrived, trying to show dominance. I make sure to keep my ears straight up while baring my teeth. Giving them a warning not to approach me.

The two wolves transform back into their human form. One of them Have a dark hair with dark black eyes and a slicked back hairstyle. He's the one with cinnamon scent.

The last one is the tallest among those triplets. He have blonde hair with blue eyes. His hair is what you called an ivy league cut. He seems mysterious and dangerous.

His scent is quite unique and it's not something like I ever smell before. He smells kind of wild but calming at the same time. It gives me the feeling like when I'm in the ocean.

After taking in all of their appearances, realisation hit me that all of them are stark naked. It's a normal thing for were wolves but it's totally different if they're your mate.

Even though I hate it, it still have its own effect on me since we are mates.

"Shift!" The one with blonde hair command me.

"Come on Edith, shift! Don't make things worse than it already is!" Sierra spoke.

"Traitor." I retort. I put down our wall and the first sentence that come out of her mouth is her defending other wolves.

"Their wolves are starting to get aggravated. Please just this once, hear me out. I promise they won't hurt you. They just want to talk" Sierra begs me.

"Fine. But tell their wolf that I'm not speaking to them while they're on their birthday suit." I end our conversation and shift my focus back on them.

His eyes lose their focus for a moment indicating that he's talking with his wolf.

"Come with me."

I follow him and his brother, while the last one follow me from behind. The air seem tense, and it's as if I'm a prisoner and they're walking me to my prison.

Luckily, we're walking at a slow pace. It gives me time to think and take in all of the things that just happened.

Let's rewind. First is I meet my mate. Again. For a second time. And this time, I don't have nor two but three mates.

What kind of fucked logic is this. Does my new mates add up every freaking time I got rejected? So if i get rejected again will I get four new mates?

I'm starting to freak out again. Shit. Ok calm down, just breathe. Think slowly and stay on the subject.

At this moment, I'm just rumbling nonsense and it's not helpful. Next up, the effect that they have on me was not as strong as when I meet Claude and Caesar for the first time.

Does the fact that I got rejected once have anything to do with it? I might need to research more on it.

Let's move on to the next subject. The almost dying guy on the three. Who is he? I might need to ask them later.

Or not.

I'm afraid they'll kill me if I ask too much. But I can outrun them, right? We're so close to Glaxart, I bet I can arrive there before they manage to catch me.

That settled it then. Ok next, does this mean I have a second chance mate? I have never heard of it but hopefully I'll get something if I ask around.

And if my luck sucks, and I can't find anything, Glaxart have records about werewolves dating back to a few thousand years ago. So either way I'll end up finding something.

Ok now back to my mates again. Are they brothers? Triplets perhaps? So why does they all look different? Aren't twins supposed to look alike? It's none of my business anyway.

But at the same time it is. Because they're my mates or soon to be ex-mates or whatever it is.

Next is... holy mother of god, I almost died from falling off a cliff.

"Told you to be careful."

"Shut up Sierra, you're not helping."

"If only you follow my advice in the first place, you wouldn't end up almost falling."

At this point, Sierra isn't helping at all and I decide to just ignore her. I can bet that she's head over heels for their wolves.

While me, I'm not. I don't fancy another mate after I just got rejected. Since it's Sierra, she can't help it. It's in her instinct to be near with her mates.

My pondering have made me lost track in time and we're back to where we met.

But this time, the beaten up guy is gone and I'm left alone with my mates.

"Shift!" The commanding voice send chills up to my spine.
