《Have Hope》3

Y/N POV

After lunch some members of the team went back out to go shopping, some went to hang out in their rooms with each other, and the captains went to a meeting.

I went up to my room and watched some TV, not really having anything else to do. I hated shopping, especially with a giant group of girls, and it wasn't like I had a best friend to hang with. It didn't bother me though, I kind of liked the peace of being alone.

About an hour into my Criminal Minds marathon, I heard a knock at the door. I got up from the bed and opened it to find Alex Morgan on the other side.

I raised my eyebrow and smirked at her. "Yes?"

She rolled her eyes at me. "Where's Kelley?"

"Wow, rude much. How about a, 'may you please tell me where Kelley is?'"

The blue eyed forward scoffed. "In your dreams rookie. Now where is Kelley?"

Alex mad is pretty funny. "Not home. Sorry princess."

Alex's eye twitched. "What did you just call me?" She hissed, her eyes narrowing.

I chuckled. "Princess." I watched her ears turn red.

"Don't call me that. Now are you going to tell me where Kelley is or not?" I crossed my arms and casually leaned against the doorway, enjoying every second of this.

"What's the secret password?"

She rolled her eyes again, huffing in annoyance. "You're so annoying!"

"Incorrect. Want to try again?"

She sent a death glare at me. "Grant I swear to god-"

"Relax Princess, she's out shopping." I cut her off, laughing at her expression.

"Don't call me that!" She fumed, making me raise my hands in innocence.

"Alright, calm down. Jesus."

I watched her angrily storm away, mumbling about how I'm so annoying and shit. I busted out laughing after closing the door.

I went back to my show, and in no time, it was dinner.

Alex POV

I fucking hate Y/n. She's so annoying and cocky and just UGH. Everything about her. It's like she was put on this earth just to make everyone around her mad.

And calling me Princess?? Who the hell does she think she is????

I'm going to kick her ass in scrimmage tomorrow. I swear to god, she'll be so butthurt she'll want to quit.

I felt bad for Kells having to put up with this kids disrespectful bullshit for so long. Once I got back to my room, I told Pinoe what happened, and her response was to bust out laughing and fall off her bed, which was so not helpful.

"That's pretty hilarious Alex, oh my god!" She said as she wiped tears from her eyes. "HA! Princess! Classic! I love her already."

I glared at my friend. "Seriously Pinoe!?"

She just continued to laugh. I groaned in annoyance and plopped face down on my bed, just wanting it to be dinner already.

Y/N POV

I once again sat at the coaches table, and every so often I would catch a certain forward staring at me. As soon as I looked at her, she whipped her head around and tried to act like she was deep in conversation. It was pretty hilarious.

After dinner we all decided to go for a walk around the block, and I stayed in back. Surprisingly, Christen fell back with me, and we struck up a casual conversation.

"So how was your first day?" She asked. Christen always had one of those motherly kind of vibes, and I always like watching her in interviews. Getting to actually play with her now, along with the rest of the team, was a true honor.

"Interesting, but good."

Christen nodded. "Yeah, it's always pretty overwhelming for the first few weeks, but you get used to it. It's pretty easy to fall into routine, and soon enough, these girls become family."

I smiled at her words. "Yeah, I hope so. I'm excited to finally get to play for this team."

"Carli said you've been called up before, how come you didn't play then?"

I hesitated, thinking carefully about my words. "My mom, she wanted me to finish college first before playing-in case soccer didn't work out. She was-is-super nervous about me playing for the team. I guess she's worried that it'll be too much pressure or something. I don't know."

Christen hummed in response. "Well, your mom sounds like a very caring woman."

I grinned, thinking about the memories I had with her. "Yeah, she's the best."

"How about your dad?"

That was kind of a sore spot for me, since I've never had one. For as long as I could remember, it's always just been me and my mother, my Aunt, who's basically the older sister I never had, and my nanny, Sandra, who helped raise me when my mom had to leave for work.

"Never met him." I said, and I could tell Christen felt guilty for bringing it up. "I'm sorry." She said quietly. I smiled at her.

"It's all good. Don't worry about it. So how long have you and Tobin been together?" The green eyed forward grinned at the mention of her girlfriend.

"Five years this year!"

"Wow, that's awesome Christen, I'm happy for you guys."

She thanked me with her wide smile, and I couldn't help but return it. This woman's happiness was infectious. "Has she proposed yet?"

Christen rolled her eyes. "Ugh no. I've been waiting forever so she better get on that." I laughed at her response, and we continued our conversation as we walked.

Once we went back to our rooms, the team split into small groups and hung out with each other. It was only 8, and curfew was 10:30, so we had plenty of time. Kelley was with Alex, Pinoe, Allie, Tobin, Christen, Ash, and Ali in Alex's room, which meant I had the room to myself.

I decided to call my mom, as I'm sure she was dying to hear about my first day.

"Hey Mom."

"Hey sweetie! How was your first day? Tell me everything!"

I snickered at my moms excitement and told her all about my day; how Kelley is my roommate, Alex hates me, and Jill is super nice.

"That sounds like a full day. Has Jill spoken to you about telling the team....you know?"

"Yeah, I'm not sure how to do it. I mean, it's not like I'm hiding it from them, you know? Like I'm not putting in effort to keep it a secret, but at the same time I haven't directly told anyone."

"Yeah, well, just remember that this is completely your choice, if and when you decided to tell them."

"Yeah, thanks Mom. I should go, I have to call Aunt T and curfew is in an hour."

"Okay sweetie, I'm glad you called, and I'm so proud and happy for you. Tell Jill and Aunt T I say hi!"

"I will, love you Mom."

"Love you too Honey."

After hanging up, I called my Aunt, who, along with Sandra, took care of me whenever my mom went away for her work. My Aunt and I are super close, and I tell her everything.

She was actually on my side when my Mom wouldn't let me play for the USWNT when I was called up.

"Hey T!" I said excitedly, not having talked to my Aunt in about a week. She lives in Seattle, so I haven't been able to see in her in at least a month.

"Hey Mini!" I rolled my eyes at her nickname for me. She had been calling me that since I was 5, and no matter how many times I told her I hated it, she kept using it.

"You know I hate that!" I said, playfully scolding her.

"Nah, you love it. So how was your first day?"

I basically just recounted all the stuff I told my Mom to my Aunt.

"That's so awesome! I'm so proud of you dude. What's with Alex and her attitude though?"

I chuckled at the thought of the pissy forward and our encounter a few hours ago.

"I don't know, but everything I do makes her peeved, which is so funny. It's so entertaining to make her mad."

"Maybe she like's you? Pullin the ol' 2nd grade 'I hate you, but I actually love you' kinda thing?"

"Mmm..I really doubt that. For one, she's straight, and two, she's dating that dick face. What's his name again? Servando?"

My Aunt exploded with laughter. "Someone sounds a little jealous."

"I'm not jealous! And even if I was, can you really blame me? Alex is really hot."

"True that."

"Alright, I gotta go, it's light's out in 10 and I need to get ready for bed."

"Okay, thanks for calling me kid. I miss you."

"I miss you too T, Oh, and Mom says hi."

She chuckled and mumbled something about her sister being a dumbass before replying. "Tell her I say hi back. Good night Y/n, I love you."

"Love you too T, night."

Just as I hung up the phone, the door opened, and in walked Kelley.

"Hey, what're you up too?" She asked with a smile.

I returned it and responded. "Just calling my family, how was the movie?"

Kelley made a sour face. "Dumb as shit. Alex made everyone watch inside out. Like what is that?! Stupid!"

I laughed and watched her walk into the bathroom. We both got changed and then brushed our teeth, set our alarm, and said goodnight.

Tomorrow was the first day of training, and I was going to need all the rest I could get.
