《Have Hope》2

Alex POV
Once the doors shut behind us, we all started our walk up to our rooms. There was something about the new kid that reminded me of something. Or someone. I could already tell she was going to be one of those cocky goalies. By the way she winked at me. Ugh, pissed me off. She irked me for some reason.
"So what do you guys think about the newbie?" Megan asked as we walked.
"Hot." Christen said. "Babe!" Tobin looked at her girlfriend, outraged.
Christen just laughed. "I speak the truth. Besides, she's too young, plus I'm already taken."
Tobin smiled smugly and kissed her head.
"I agree with Chris, though she does give me fuckboy vibes." Abby stated, and a few people made noises of agreement.
"She looks like Hope." Carli said, and immediately, I knew that Y/n Grant reminded me of our old goalkeeper. I didn't have a super fond memory of Hope. In the weeks leading up to her quitting the team, she and basically all of our other teammates were arguing about something.
The two of us had our own beef, which we still haven't resolved. It's been a year since any of us have seen her, and as angry as I am at her, I do miss her, and I know everyone else does, even though they won't admit it.
"Yeah, she has the blue eyes and black hair." Sam commented.
"I wonder if she has Hope's abs?" Kelley asked, her voice longing. It was common knowledge that Kelley and Hope had dated for four years when Hope was still on the team. They broke up around the time when Hope quit, and the defender still wasn't over it.
"Kelley you really need to get over her." Allie told her. Kelley sighed. "I know. I just miss her. She just broke up with me without any real reason, left for LA, and never talked to any of us again. Who does that?"
We stayed quiet for the next few steps. "What do you think about her Alex? I saw her wink at you." Tobin wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, and I whacked her arm.
"Ugh, she's annoying." I grumbled, finally reaching my room, where I'm bunking with Pinoe.
"She is really hot though. I can't wait to see her train." Emily Sonnett said, making us laugh.
"Oh my god Sonnett, calm down." Ali laughed.
"Hey, am I wrong though?" She asked defensively. No one said anything, telling her the answer.

"Exactly." She said smugly.
"I wonder if she has any tattoos." Ashlyn pondered.
Kelley laughed. "Of course that's what Ash is thinking." Ash just grinned and shoved her.
"Alright so what do you guys want to do? We have a few hours until lunch." Becky asked. We all shrugged. "We should unpack, but how about we meet in the Lobby at 10:30? That gives everyone half an hour to unpack and get ready."
Everyone agreed and went to their respective rooms.
"Which bed do you want?" I asked Pinoe once we closed our door. "Doesn't matter to me-oh wait! I want the one farthest from the bathroom so that you die first if there's a monster."
I laughed and rolled my eyes at my friend, grabbing my bag and setting it on the bed she didn't choose.
"I'm glad you care so much about me Pinoe." The purple haired woman grinned at me and set to work unpacking her stuff.
I did the same, the whole time my mind occupied with thought's of our new goalie. There's just something about her. I can't put my finger on it.
Y/N POV
When I entered our room, Kelley was already in there, unpacking her things. "Hey, I didn't know which bed you wanted, so you can choose."
I smiled at her. "Nah, it's all good, your pick." She shrugged and chose the left bed, which gave me the right one.
"So, I'm not sure what you want to do, but the team's going to meet in the lobby at 10:30, and we're going to explore the city, if you want to come?"
I grinned. "Yeah, sure. Thanks."
Kelley nodded. "You know, you really remind me of our old Goalie. Hope solo. You look like her, and you have her attitude."
I laughed at her words. "Well, let's just see if I can match up to her skills on the field."
"Good luck with that dude, she's the best goalkeeper the world's ever seen."
I shrugged. "Eh, I think I got it."
Kelley raised a skeptical eyebrow. "You are very cocky new kid. Let's see how long that lasts."
I winked at her and smirked. "Forever."
The defender laughed. "Alright, you do you."
Kelley and I got ready in silence, and I decided to change my clothes from a Nike hoodie and joggers, to some black ripped skinny jeans and a simple white t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up, showing off the tattoos on my arms. I pulled on my black high top vans and grabbed my wallet and lanyard with my room key on it.

"You ready?" I asked Kelley, who was coming out of the bathroom. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
"What?" I asked, puzzled.
"Nothing. I just...nothing. Yeah I'm ready." I wanted to know what she was going to say, but I dropped it.
We left our room and met everyone else down in the lobby. "Damn rookie, you clean up nice." Ash whistled, making me chuckle.
"Thank you."
"You guys ready to explore?" Carli asked everyone. We all nodded, I followed the group outside. It wasn't too cold, considering it was winter, but we are also in Southern California, so that meant it was like 70 degrees.
Everyone decided to stop at a coffee shop first, and I could tell the barista's were surprised when a group of 23 women walked in.
Once everyone got their coffee, we went back out again to walk around. We were right by the beach, walking on the side walk that ran along the sand. I whistled when I saw three incredibly hot women walking along in the waves, wearing bikini's.
"Oh my god." Alex said, shaking her head. "What?" I asked, having done nothing wrong.
"Do you have any respect for women?" She asked, annoyed.
"What!?" I spluttered, a shocked laugh escaping my lips. "What are you talking about? Am I not allowed to admire beauty?" I asked her, feeling like her annoyance isn't really deserved.
The forward rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything else.
The rest of our morning continued like this, where I would say something, and Alex would get all mad at me for no reason. If I'm being honest, it's kind of fun to piss her off and get a reaction out of her.
She's super hot when she's mad, so who am I to complain?
I talked a lot with Kelley too, and I feel like we could have a nice friendship. It was pretty fun watching Ash, Allie, Pinoe, Tobin, and Kelley act like crackheads, and it was even more funny watching Carli, Becky, and Alyssa try to control them.
At around 12:50 we walked back to the hotel for lunch. I wasn't really sure where to sit, but I was pleasantly surprised when Jill waved me over to her table with the other coaches.
"Hey." I greeted them, setting my plate down and sitting down.
They all smiled at me. "How was exploring?" Mark asked me.
"Interesting. Most of the team act like crackheads, and it's pretty hilarious watching the vets go into mom mode."
Jill chuckled. "Yeah, you'd better get used to that, there's really no sense in fighting it."
Alex POV
I looked over at the coaches table to see the rookie sitting there, looking all chummy with Jill. My god she pissed me off so much, and it's only lunch time. She's so exhausting to be around. When she was gawking at those girls I wanted to slap her.
I don't even know why it made me so angry, but it did. Every little thing that she does makes me annoyed. Why was she even sitting at the coaches table? She's not that special.
Kelley had told me about her and Grant's conversation in their hotel room, basically sobbing about how much she reminded her of Hope. I just couldn't believe how arrogant the goalie is. Now I want to make it my mission to score on her as much as I can in practice.
"I heard from one of the coaches that this is Grant's 5th call up for the team." Carli said in a hushed tone.
I raised my eyebrows. "Why haven't we played with her before then?" Tobin asked, taking a bite of her sandwich.
"Well, word is that she rejected Jill's offer the first four times." My mouth fell open.
"Rejected?" Mal asked, obviously just as surprised at the rest of us. Carli nodded.
"Dude, that's crazy! No one reject's Jill and keeps getting called back. If you get invited you better accept it the first time otherwise you can't expect to ever see the national level." Ash said.
I glanced at Y/n out of the corner of my eye. She was laughing and talking with the coaches.
"There's something...off about Y/n. No one makes Jill laugh and smile like that, even on a good day. Do you think Y/n is like her secret relative or something? I mean, why else would she play favorites?" Rose said.
Carli shrugged. "I'm not sure. Jill or Y/n will tell us if they want to. But for now, everyone please be as nice and as welcoming to Y/n as possible, even if the rookie makes it hard with her arrogance."
A few of us groaned, but grudgingly agreed. I wasn't happy about it, but it was the right thing to do.
