I am writing new lyrics in my notebook, when I hear some boys coming. I ignore it and keep writing my lyrics. Then someone yells out to me.

Felix: "Ember!"

I look up to see Sam, Felix, and Andy.

Ember: "Hey guys."

Andy: "Ember, did your parents remember you?"

Ember: "I don't know, but Madison and Jared did not. And that wasn't even the weirdest part."

Sam: "What was the weirdest part?"

Ember: "My brother was there and I think he was flirting with me."

Felix: "Wait, since when do you have a brother?"

Ember: "I had an older brother that I never got to meet. He lived for 1 week and then died as a baby. I always wanted to meet him, but I didn't want him to flirt with me."

Felix: "My brother can walk now, but none of my family recognizes me."

Sam: "My family doesn't recognize me either."

Andy: "Neither does mine. My sister thinks I'm a stalker."

Ember: "Madison thought I was a new police officer that found her missing clothes. I feel so lost. I've analyzed everything I have seen and there is no logical explanation for this. My brother should be dead. I'm happy he's alive, but he shouldn't be."

Andy: "We need to calm down and think about this together."

Ember: "I need to calm myself down, so I'll do that alone on the bench over there."

Sam: "I don't know how any of you can even think. I'm starving."

I go over to the bench and pull out my laptop to calm myself. Jake walks over to them and apologizes for his behavior earlier. As they are talking to each other, I make an order for 3 pizzas and 2 2 liter bottles (1 Pepsi & 1 Sprite) to be brought to the skating park and asked the delivery guy to have change for a $100 bill. They get up to leave and look at me.

Sam asks, "Are you coming, Ember?"

Ember: "Just come back and get me if you decide to stay there. I'm a little busy."

I put my headphones on as they walk away. About 10 minutes later, the pizza delivery guy comes.

PDG: "Hello, are you the one that ordered the pizza?"

Ember: "Yes, the others will be back in a bit. Here's the money."

PDG: "And here's your change."

Ember: "Thanks."

He leaves and I take the stuff. I put my laptop and money away. I know exactly where they are going so I pickup the pizza and soda and start my walk there. When I get there, I walk in and say, "Food has arrived!"

Sam: "Woah, thank you Ember!" they run over. I put the boxes and bottles down.

Ember: "Shit, I forgot cups."

Felix pats my back, "That's okay, at least you got food."

Ember: "I only got cheese, cause I didn't know what everyone would want."

We eat the pizza and I actually had my own water, so they shared the soda. "You guys would starve without me."

Andy: "You're right."

Jake: "You are awesome."

Ember: "Hey guys, can you turn around for a minute?"

Sam: "Why?"

Ember: "So I can get changed."

Jake: "Wait you have a change of clothes?"

Ember: "Yeah, I didn't want to get on the bus all muddy. If you don't turn around I won't be getting any food for you."

They turn around quickly and I take off my shirt, bathing suit top, and pants, then put on my hoodie and shorts.

Felix: "Can we turn around now?"

Ember: "Yeah, I just finished."

They turn around.

Ember: "Good night boys. You can use the towels."

Then we all go to sleep.

The next morning I am rudely woken up by someone shaking my shoulder.

?: "Ember wake up."

Ember: "Leave me alone Jared. I'll do my lesson later."

Felix: "I'm not Jared and what lesson?"

I open my eyes and see Felix.

Ember: "Oh, hey Felix."

Felix: "The guys are waiting to go dumpster diving for food. You wanna come?"

Ember: "No, I think I'll go to a cafe."

Felix: "How are you going to get food?"

Ember: "I have money on me."

Felix: "Can I go with you?"

Ember: "Sure. The others can too, if they don't prefer dumpster diving."

Felix: "You are the best."

Felix runs out and says, "Guys, we don't have to go dumpster diving."

Sam: "Then how are we getting food?"

I walk out with my sunglasses on.

Ember: "It's so bright. Why are we up so earlier?"

Jake: "To get food."

Ember: "Right, to the cafe."

I lazily lead the way and Andy runs up to me.

Andy: "How are we going to get food at the cafe?"

Ember: "Don't worry about it. I miss coffee."

Felix: "Hey, Ember, who is Jared?"

Ember: "Jared is 4 things. My best friend, my family's favorite friend, my personal butler, and the one who taught me everything I know about music. He was the only one who never pretended to be my friend. In a way, he is also like a father to me, but now he has no idea who I am."

I can feel my world closing in on me as I say each word. Then Andy says, "We're gonna help you get him back."

Ember: "Thanks. At least now that no one knows me, I can focus on my music, without anyone trying to befriend me because of Madison."

I can feel their eyes on me, but I ignore them and continue walking. Once we get to my favorite cafe, I go over to the corner booth and the boys follow me. After we are done eating, I go to the counter and flirt with the boy there, to cut the price down.

Ember: "I only have $20 dollars and those 4 are completely broke. They are my cousins. I promised I would pay for them. Can you please help me out a little?"

Boy: "Yeah, I can cut it down to $20 for you, if you let me take you on a date sometime."

Ember: "Thank you so much, but my cousins won't let me. How about a kiss on the cheek instead. As a thank you."

Boy: "That works too."

I smile and kiss his cheek, then hand him the $20. I turn around and walk back to the table.

Ember: "Okay, let's go."

Sam: "Wait, what was that?"

Ember: "I'll tell you once we aren't in here anymore." I growl at him.

Sam nods and we leave. Once we are in the woods again,

Sam: "Okay, so what was with that kiss?"

Ember: "The only useful thing Madison taught me. How to use my good looks to make the price drop dramatically. Our food was gonna cost $50 dollars, but by flirting with him and giving him a kiss on the cheek, I only had to pay $20. Saved myself $30 for later."

Felix: "That's pretty impressive."

Ember: "Thanks. Now how about we all go swimming, to brighten our moods."

Jake: "Yeah, I'm up for it."

Andy: "Let's do it."

Sam: "Sounds fun."

Felix: "Sure."

The 4 of them start running to the creek. I laugh as I walk to the shed and put my bathing suit top on. When I get to the creek, Sam, Jake, and Andy are in the water, while Felix is sitting with a journal. I take off my hoodie and shorts as I say, "Hey Felix."

He looks up at me and says, "Hey. Cool piercing."

I look down and see my belly button piercing. "Yeah, thanks. I like yours too."

I lay on the rock on top of my towel. Jake comes out and asks what he's writing. I can already guess and don't really care to listen for now. I put my headphones on and listen to my own music. I hear a 'woohoo' and see it was Andy in the water.

Andy: "You should join us in the water Ember."

Ember: "No thanks. I just want to tan."

Andy: "Did you know it is actually easier and faster to tan in water, because the water magnifies the sun's rays?"

Ember: "Will you stop bugging me if I get in the water?"

Andy: "Yes."

I sigh and get up. Then Andy hears Felix asking about proof that we exist.

They end up agreeing to go to school.

Ember: "I'll join you."

I put my hoodie and shorts on as they gather their stuff and then we leave.

Once we get to the school, Felix gets us inside and then we go our separate ways to find evidence of our existence. Felix goes to the library, Andy goes to check the school records, Jake goes to check the photos outside the gym, and I go up to the roof. When I get up to the roof, I check the spot where I once carved a heart with a key hole and then a key that I scratched out and put chains around the heart. It's not here though.

Ember: "This can't be. I'm alive. But where is my carving? Maybe the others are having better luck."

Then I hear Felix's voice. I look over the edge of the roof and see Felix with Ellen and Mia. I watch the encounter between them and once Ellen and Mia walk away, I can see the hurt on Felix's face.

Ember: "Felix!"

Felix looks around and then sees me on the roof.

Felix: "Why are you on the roof?"

Ember: "Just meet me with Jake and Andy!"

He starts to head inside and I make my way to the office. I walk in as Andy says, "We really don't exist."

I run back to the roof and sit against the wall, thinking about everything that's going on.

Ember: "I have analyzed everything I have seen. How is this possible? The only explanation I can come up with is magic. But how can magic exist? I need to calm down and think rationally."

I take out my notebook and start a new song.

I close my notebook after I finish the rest of the lyrics and lay my head in my hands.

Ember: "At least I have made the lyrics for my new song. Now all that's left is to compose it."

Then I hear footsteps and someone sits next to me.

Felix: "Hey, you wanna help us get supplies, so we don't die?"

Ember: "Yeah, it'll give me something to do."

Felix offers me a smile and helps me up.

Felix: "You are on shopping duty. Sam and Jake are getting Sam's camping gear. Andy and I are getting food."

Ember: "Okay. I'll be sure to get deodorant for all of you, when you are done running. We all stink."

I laugh with him and then we leave the school with the others and separate to get the stuff we are assigned.

Ember: "Okay, so $48.00 for the pizza and soda, $20.00 for the breakfast. $5,000.00 minus $68.00 equals $4,932.00. I wonder if that's enough."

I walk into a store and get 5 comforters, a blow up queen size mattress with a built in pump, 5 pillows, a soft body pillow, 5 sticks of deodorant, 5 phone battery chargers, a cordless rotating heater, a wagon to carry all of the stuff, a black guitar that comes with a case, pick, tuner, and strap, and a twin pack of 2 liter bottles of mouthwash. Then I get a few snacks and go to the register. (I actually did the math for all of this at Walmart and the price was exactly what I am about to say it is.)

Cashier: "Your total is $617.69. Will that be all for you today?"

Ember: "Yes, thank you very much. Keep the change."

I give him $618 and then leave with my items in my new wagon. Once I get back to the shack, Jake, Andy, and Felix are already here.

Ember: "Oh good, you're here. Can you help me bring in the stuff?"

Felix: "Yeah."

Jake: "Sure."

The 3 of them come out and are completely stunned when they see what I got.

Andy: "Woah."

Jake: "How did you get all of this stuff?"

Ember: "I only got the necessities. Plus I have my ways, so don't worry about it."

They look at me like I'm crazy.

Felix: "You are absolutely insane, but thanks for getting all of this. Did you happen to get any food, because the stuff Andy got is disgusting."

Andy: "Hey, my food isn't that bad."

Ember: "I got some snacks, cookies, pepperoni, chips, pickles, popcorn, cupcakes, and poptarts. Oh and soda."

Jake: "You are a goddess."

Ember: "The comforters came in 4 colors, and they are reversible. I call the black and gray one."

Once we are done bringing all of the stuff in, we setup our sleeping areas and I inflate the mattress. Then Sam joins us.

Sam: "Woah, where did all of this stuff come from?"

Jake: "Ember."

Sam: "Awesome. Thanks Ember."

Ember: "No problem. Now here are your deodorants, please put it on immediately and here is mouthwash so your breath can stop smelling bad."

They each take one of the deodorants and put some on then use the mouthwash and I do the same. I get under my comforter with my clean underwear, hoodie and shorts and get changed.

Felix: "Hey, Ember, what are you doing in there?"

Ember: "Getting changed."

Felix: "Alright."

All of a sudden there is a huge wind storm. We huddle behind a barrier and I bring the comforter around us, to block debris, which we all cling onto.
