Madison Ashwood

Ember is Aether/void(The material that fills the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere.) the 6th element.

She has always been out-shined by her sister, Madison. She usually hangs out in a tree or on the roof of the school. Always observes and analyzes everything around her.

Ember sees the world as black and white. There are good people and there are bad people, but these four boys will teach her that not everything is black or white. There can be gray as well.

She walks to school with an earphone in her left ear and listens to Madison ranting about whatever she wants. She just nods and says, 'you are right' or whatever she needs to in order to make her sister think she is listening.

Madison is the queen bitch of the school. Ember use to have a boyfriend, but it turns out, he was only using her to get close to Madison and then cheated on her and dumped her for Madison.

She taught herself how to play the drums, bass and electric guitar, with help from her butler. Keeps a notebook filled with lyrics.

Has a belly button piercing.

I'm finishing up my lyrics, when my butler comes in. "Ember, your permission slip has been signed, and it is time for school."

Ember: "Just writing the last word, Jared."

I take the permission slip and put it in the inside pocket of my jacket. Then Madison comes in and puts some stuff next to my bag.

Madison: "Put this stuff in your bag."

Ember: "Why should I?"

Madison: "Because there's no more room in mine, duh. Now hurry up. I'm not missing this chance to flirt with Kyle, because you are slow. Maybe I'll even catch Jake's eye."

Then she giddily leaves my room. Jared puts my laptop and the battery for it into my bag. Then he puts Madison's money and clothes into my bag as well.

Jared: "If it makes you feel better, I would suggest 'accidentally' dropping her clothes in the mud or creek to get back at her. Maybe the change of scenery will help you gain more ideas for your songs."

Ember: "Thanks Jared. I'll think about it. You are the only one who actually cares about me and my music, so thank you."

He hands me my bag and then I go downstairs, meeting Madison at the door. I am about to start walking, but Madison clears her throat.

Ember: "What Madison?"

Madison: "I'm not walking more than I have to, today. I will drive us to school."

Ember: "Fine, whatever."

I get into the passenger side and Madison drives, recklessly, to school. Once she parks, she looks at me.

Madison: "Do you have my clothes?"

Ember: "Yes."

Madison: "And my money?"

Ember: "Yes."

Madison: "Good. Now, don't talk to me on this trip, unless I talk to you first."

Ember: "Okay, Madison."

We get out of the car and Kyle scoops her up, and kisses her. I roll my eyes and walk over to the bus. I hand the teacher mine and Madison's permission slips and then slip on. Unfortunately, my sister and Kyle sit right behind me, but everyone just ignores my presence as usual. Once Mr Bates gives us the talk about what's going on, we are off to the park. I listen to my music that I composed last night and start writing new lyrics the entire ride.

Mr Bates puts us in groups of 5 and he ends up throwing me in Sam and Jake's group. I can't believe I'm stuck with these idiots. Felix doesn't look too bad and Andy, well he needs to dial it down on the nerd scale. We start going and Jake and Sam are speeding ahead, while I am trying to stay behind Andy.

Jake: "Come on."

Felix looks back at Andy and says, "Can't you go a little faster?"

Andy can't because of how much he brought.

Ember: "I can't walk this slow anymore. You shouldn't have brought so much stuff if you can't move fast with it."

Then Felix says, "Wait up."

Andy puts his stuff down while saying, "In my family, this is traveling light."

"How is that traveling light?" I sarcastically comment. I start writing in my journal while Sam and Jake start emptying Andy's bag. Sam and Jake start walking ahead again and I walk in the space between them and Felix.

Jake starts complaining about not winning and Felix points out a shortcut.

"And to think, if I wasn't being pushed to make you win this, I could be at the creek right now." I grumble as we continue.

All of a sudden, the map flies out of Felix's hands and we all slip into a valley. The boys fall onto the ground and I somehow fall on top of them. "Thanks for at least cushioning my fall, boys."

I get off of them quickly. As we start walking, Jake makes some weird random calls. We find Andy's bag and Sam asks if it has any food in it, because he's so hungry that he could eat his arm. Andy says our bodies can't digest their own flesh.

Ember: "You could've asked earlier."

I take out an apple and throw it to Sam. He catches it and starts eating it. "Thanks, Ember."

Jake asks, "Do you have anymore?"

Ember: "Yeah."

I take out a bag of pineapple slices, a bag of cantaloupe, a bag of grapes, and a bag of mangoes.

Ember: "Pick one."

Jake takes the grapes, Felix takes the cantaloupe, and Andy takes the mangoes. I start eating my pineapple slices and Felix says, "Why did you bring so much fruit?"

Ember: "I planned on swimming and tanning at a creek here and that makes me crave fruit. I didn't know which one I would want and school food sucks."

Felix: "Understandable."

We continue on our walk till it gets dark. Then we make camp. The guys start talking about being cold and Felix tells us a story as I pull out my towel and wrap myself in it. They look at me as if I did something.

Ember: "What? I told you I was planning on going swimming. Of course I brought 2 towels. Oh and I have some deli meat."

Sam exasperatedly says, "Then take it out and share with us."

Ember: "Okay. Felix, you can have the towel, because you have the least protection from the cold."

I hand my extra towel to him and he thanks me. Then I hand my towel to Andy, because he's so cold. I take out Madison's jacket and put it on. As I hand them some of my deli meat, I say, "Don't any of you tell my sister I wore her jacket or I'll kick your asses."

They nod as they take the food. As the rain gets harder, Felix takes out music to calm us down. When the song is over, I say, "Felix, you sound really good, but I think the guys might like my music more."

Jake and Sam nod and Felix says, "Alright." I take out my music and they all seem to enjoy it. Felix nods his head and says, "That's actually good. Is that you?"

Ember: "Yeah. I played each of the 3 instruments you just heard and then added my lyrics. Maybe I'll show you sometime. It could help you with your final draft of the song."

Felix: "That would be awesome. Thanks Ember."

Ember: "No problem."

Then the rain puts out the fire.

At some point we all fall asleep.

The next morning, I wake up with my head on Felix's side. Sam is eating something, Jake is sleeping on Felix's leg, and Andy is sleeping on the ground. Everyone wakes up and we hear something.

Felix: "That doesn't sound good."

Jake: "We should get moving."

We grab our stuff and get up. We look at the sky and the clouds start to spiral as Sam says, "Killer storm." I start making a run for it, with them running behind me while yelling, 'run.'

We end up in front of Roland. He thought we were attacking him and Andy says "We are being chased by nature."

Roland ends up driving us to town. When he pulls over to let us out I thank him for driving us. As we are about to separate, I say, "Well I have to go. Madison is most likely pissed that she doesn't have her clothes or allowance. Not to mention that I disappeared with the guy she was trying to flirt with."

Then the guys look at me.

Sam: "I'm flattered that your sister wants me, but I have a girlfriend."

Ember: "Not you, Jake. Madison was gonna flirt with Jake during the excursion."

Then I leave and head home. When I get home, I walk in and go over to Madison's room.

Ember: "Hey, Madison, don't freak out, I have your clothes right here."

Madison: "It's about time. You must be a new cop. I reported that a few days ago. And why didn't you knock first before entering my room?"

Madison takes her clothes from me and shuts the door in my face.

Ember: "Well that was weird."

Then my butler Jared comes over.

Jared: "Allow me to escort you to the door, madam, now that your business here is done."

Ember: "What? But Jared, I live here. Don't mess with me like that."

Jared: "I have never seen you before, madam."

Ember: "Uh right. I think I'll be leaving now."

Then a voice I have never heard speaks to Jared.

?: "Hey Jared, the door to the sound booth is stuck. Can you get it open for me?"

I look at the person to see a blonde teenage boy.

?: "Hello, and who are you?"

Ember: "I-I'm the new police intern. I came to give Madison Ashwood her missing clothes."

Sean: "Thanks, she's been complaining about that for awhile now. I'm Sean Ashwood. What's your name?"

Ember: "Ember Ash."

He then kisses my hand and says, "Maybe I'll see you in school?"

Ember: "Yeah, I just moved here, so I haven't been enrolled in the school yet."

Sean: "Well then, allow me to show you around once you get enrolled."

Ember: "Okay, I'll see you then."

Once I leave the house, I am completely in awe. I walk to the skate park, hoping to make sense of this.
